On The Bold and the Beautiful, viewers gasped today when Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) affectionately rubbed Ridge’s (Thorsten Kaye) shoulder, fondly touched his cheek, and drew her hand back to swiftly slap his face!
Why Brooke slapped Ridge on The Bold and the Beautiful
The tension had been mounting between Ridge and Brooke. Partly because of what had been done and said in their arguments recently, but also because of the unspoken moments that Ridge deemed as betrayals.

To Ridge, everything goes back to Brooke’s daughter, Hope (Annika Noelle). Hope is a manipulative liar who works behind the scenes to get in people’s ears and make them do what she wants them to do, no matter if it’s factual or reasonable. It doesn’t matter that she’s overblown her victimization or that she, in actuality, has little to no business acumen. For some reason, when Hope whimpers about how she’s been done wrong, she can convince anyone to do her bidding. For Ridge, as he sees Hope, she has hurt his son, Thomas (Matthew Atkinson), his daughter, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), and his father, Eric (John McCook). Additionally, Hope has cost Ridge his best friend, his girlfriend, and his company, and not necessarily in that order.
Brooke, on the other hand, sees the situation differently. She thinks that Hope’s ongoing feud with Steffy about boys over the years warrants everyone to overlook anything else, whether it’s Hope’s behavior with men or her success — or lack thereof — in business. To Brooke, it doesn’t matter that Hope disrespected Steffy’s marriage if she respected it by not chasing Steffy’s husband anymore. If Hope was upset about being fired, she could understand why Hope would convince Carter to take over the company. Although Brooke said that she disagreed with the takeover, she didn’t express it to anyone out loud.
At least, not until after Brooke took the CEO position — and publicly made a statement of support for the company. To Ridge, that was the last straw. Although he can understand that Brooke was motivated to take the position to try to get the company back, he can’t understand why Brooke wouldn’t have told him that and talked to him about her plan prior to making an international statement about it. She announced that he, Steffy, and Eric were taking a leave of absence without their permission and didn’t denounce what Carter and Hope had done instead. To Ridge, that was unforgivable.
Meanwhile, Brooke was led to believe that Taylor (Rebecca Budig) and Ridge have reunited. Although it is somewhat true, the extent of how far they went was not. Regardless, Ridge did turn to Taylor immediately after feeling betrayed by Brooke, and the “ping-pong match,” as she described it, was definitely back on. Infuriated by Ridge’s betrayal with Taylor, his disparaging remarks about Hope, and Ridge’s unwillingness to understand that Brooke was trying to help a very messed up situation, Brooke told him she regretted their decades of a life together. She wished him good luck with his “second choice,” Taylor, and stomped out, throwing Taylor out of her path as she walked out the door.
What happens next on The Bold and the Beautiful
With Brooke and Ridge officially over, Ridge will move on with Taylor. After explaining to Taylor what she walked in on, Taylor wonders if Ridge has changed his mind about Brooke. She was trying to help the takeover situation, although she could have easily prevented a lot of confusion and hurt if only she had communicated prior to making the public announcement of her own promotion on social media.
However, at a time when Ridge has no idea what the future holds, he knows one thing: He trusts Taylor, and she makes him feel loved. Brooke may regret telling Ridge that it is over, as this week on The Bold and the Beautiful, Ridge and Taylor fans will witness a reunion full of passion, surprises, and love. Ridge even presents her with a Taylor-made gown, and starting with a fiery kiss, their relationship is reignited into way more than just friends. While they still find time to strategize on how to get Forrester Creations back with Steffy and Eric, there is definitely love in the air for Taylor and Ridge as they bond.
