At the Spencer mansion, Bill reiterated that no one could know Luna was there. She noted that secrets were something the Nozawas had always been good at. Luna said that sometimes it felt like her life was being consumed by Poppy’s because she was always taking care of her needs. She said her mom was on drugs and with plenty of men.

Luna recalled how her mom would wake up hungover, and the guy of her dreams had up and left yet again, and she’d comfort her while she cried. Poppy would say it was just the two of them and that she loved her to the moon and back, which is why she named her Luna.

Luna noted that Poppy would always tell her it was just the two of them, and that was all they needed. “In those moments, I felt like she really did love me,” Luna cried, adding that she didn’t believe it or else Poppy would have told her who her father was.

Bill admitted he wouldn’t be the man he was today if he hadn’t known his dad. Luna recalled how Poppy wouldn’t ever tell her who her dad was and would blow it off when she asked, saying it was just the two of them and “Nozawa power.” Luna added there were just so many lies.

Bill told Luna that her taking responsibility for her actions was huge and noted that Poppy had never done that. Luna agreed and said that she deserved the truth. “Isn’t it crazy? After all these years, I’m still searching to find out who my father really is,” Luna shared.

Jack waited at Il Giardino for Li. They both stared at one another when she walked in. Deacon greeted her and assured her that Sheila wasn’t there. She noted to Jack as she sat down that she had almost called to say she didn’t want to meet there, but he also told her that he had made sure Sheila wouldn’t be there. He thanked Li for coming, and she agreed they had a lot to talk about.

Jack wanted to talk, but Li got emotional. She said it was still painful to talk about what happened with Sheila. Jack apologized again. He said he did love her, and he still did. “Funny way of showing it,” Li told him. Jack said he would keep apologizing until she believed him. Li didn’t know if that day would come, but in the meantime, she needed to apologize to him for her accusations about being Luna’s father.

Deacon interrupted to let them know that Finn would be happy to see the two of them together. Deacon left them alone, and Jack agreed with what he had said. They agreed that Finn’s happiness was something they would never let anyone take away from him.

Jack took Li’s hand. “I can’t imagine the pain you must have felt thinking that I’d had an affair with Poppy and that Luna was my daughter,” Jack told her. Li nodded.

In his office, Finn recalled his conversation with Li about Luna’s paternity. He called Poppy, who seemed dismayed when she saw the call display. Poppy answered, and he noted that he’d been trying to reach her since the day before. Finn asked Poppy to come to his office right away, stating he wasn’t sure if he was okay and wasn’t sure about anything. Poppy agreed to meet with him. When Finn hung up, he looked at pictures of Steffy on his phone and looked upset.

Poppy arrived at Finn’s office and asked if something was wrong. He told her he knew about the paternity test and that Tom Starr wasn’t Luna’s father. Poppy told him that the scene with Li about the DNA test was awful and intense. Finn admitted he had always hated how Li treated Poppy. He hoped that his mom would fix the relationship as she’d claimed she wanted to.

Poppy told Finn he didn’t need to worry about her and said he had his career, wife, and family, and things were going well. Finn agreed that having kids and being part of their lives growing up was important, and missing out on that would be devastating. “Aren’t you curious who Luna’s father is?” Finn asked. He asked why she sent back Tom’s letters if he could have been Luna’s father.

Poppy said life was fine with just her and Luna and didn’t need anyone else involved. Finn got upset and said that Luna's not having a father drove her to kill two innocent men and almost Steffy. Poppy got upset and agreed that Luna hurt a lot of people. “I can’t even imagine how you feel about her,” she cried. Finn told her to be honest with him. He wanted to know if Poppy kept Tom away and sent back his letters because she knew he wasn’t the father. “Why are you asking these questions?” Poppy asked darkly. “You know why, Poppy,” Finn told her.

Finn wanted answers. He reminded Poppy about how he had come home one night and went out his window to the roof, his favorite place to think. “But you weren’t alone,” Poppy recalled. She recounted how she was on the roof and they stayed up talking all night and watched the sun come up like it was magic. “And I have never been able to talk like that with anyone because it was so easy and safe,” Poppy remembered.

Finn said he knew who she was, but he wasn’t around much when he was growing up. Poppy said that as soon as she got her driver’s license and GED, she left home so she could be a free spirit. “But nothing in life is free, and I was just going from town to town, looking for a connection. A place to belong. But that’s not freedom, and most of the time, I was just lonely,” Poppy added. She said that she came to stay with them at that point, and Finn had just started college.

They agreed they spent a lot of hours on the roof. “And that place…that was ours. To laugh, to confide in one another, to love,” Poppy said. They recalled how one night, “they couldn’t help themselves” and went into Finn’s room. Finn noted she was his first, and there was an incredible connection. “There was nothing wrong with it. I was adopted and of age,” Finn pointed out.

Finn said in retrospect, as the years went by, he realized how wrong it was. “You changed my life,” Finn told her. “Finn, you changed mine,” Poppy said tenderly. “That’s my concern. How did I change it, Poppy? What exactly did I do to impact your life?” Finn asked.

Poppy reminded Finn that it was a long time ago, and they had agreed not to speak of it again. “It was something beautiful that we shared,” Poppy added. “Yeah, well, I have a terrible feeling. Because when you told me that you were pregnant, you swore it wasn’t mine, and then you were gone,” Finn recalled. Poppy said it was time. “I barely saw Luna after she was born. Why? You need to tell me the truth if there is any chance at all that Luna could be my daughter. You need to give it to me straight, Poppy! The truth: Am I Luna’s father?” Finn asked.
