At Forrester, Brooke watched Ridge work with a model on a design, and after the model had left, Brooke hugged him and complimented him on another fabulous design. Ridge said he was grateful to have her arms around him. She asked if he was grateful for her lips. She wished they were still in romantic Rome. Brooke recalled that Thomas and Hope had found romance there, and Ridge said he still needed to talk to his son about that.

Brooke asked if Ridge was happy that he'd seen his destiny through the keyhole. Ridge smiled, flashing back to finding Brooke in Rome. He replied that it had been a waste of time because his destiny had been right in front of him. Brooke stated that sometimes, one had to see it right in front of him. Ridge wished he could see Sheila behind bars.

Carter arrived and informed Brooke and Ridge that Katie was handling the press about Sheila. Brooke couldn't believe Bill's plan had backfired. Ridge stated that Sheila was a danger to them all, but especially Steffy's family. Ridge asked if Finn and Steffy could reinstate their statements.

Carter explained that Finn and Steffy had already recanted and refused to testify. Brooke said they'd done that due to Bill's blackmail. Carter added that there had been little evidence outside of Finn and Steffy's statements, so there was nothing to be done without new evidence. Carter said Sheila was free to live her life as she chose, and Ridge stated that Sheila was free to threaten Steffy and her kids.

Later, Carter informed Ridge that the restraining orders were being processed. Ridge asked if they should sit around and do nothing in the meantime. Ridge was certain Sheila would weasel her way into Finn's life, and Ridge wouldn't stand there and let it happen. Ridge was determined to find a way to protect his daughter. Brooke said they wouldn't let Sheila lay a finger on them.

Later, Ridge and Brooke were alone, holding each other. He said he'd missed "this so much." Brooke wished they'd never been apart in the first place. Ridge was so angry about Sheila that his hands were shaking, but he believed he could do anything with Brooke by his side. Ridge uttered that he loved Brooke more than he ever had. He asked if that was weird.

Brooke didn't think so. She said she loved Ridge, too. An idea struck Ridge. He said they'd been through it already, but "let's get married again." Brooke was surprised to hear the proposal, but she quietly said she'd love it. He replied that they would be the easiest vows he'd have to say.

Brooke told Ridge that he was right. They were stronger than ever together, and Finn would be there, keeping the children out of harm's way.

At the beach, Finn and Kelly were making a moat, and he reminded her to respect the ocean. He received a call from the hospital, but due to bad reception, he wandered away and turned his back to take the call. Kelly trotted off into the water to play.

Sheila, who'd been watching from a nearby tent, noticed that Kelly was in distress in the waves. Sheila rushed toward the water, where Kelly was losing her fight against the waves. Kelly screamed for help. Sheila grabbed the girl and swam toward shore. Finn heard Kelly scream for help. He dropped his phone and arrived in time to meet Sheila and Kelly on the wet sand.

Finn took Kelly to their blankets, and she coughed and coughed, Finn and Sheila exchanged looks. Finn told Kelly that he was sorry he hadn't heard her, and wondering how much water she'd swallowed, he said he'd check her lungs when they got back to the house.

Kelly replied that it was okay because "she" had saved Kelly. Gazing at Sheila, Finn stated that Kelly was right, and he thanked Sheila. "Mom, thank you," he said.

Kelly asked if Sheila was Finn's mom. Finn affirmed it and asked what Sheila had been doing there. Sheila said she'd just wanted to see him, but she hadn't expected any of what had happened. "If it weren't for you...you saved her life. You saved Kelly's life," Finn concluded.

At the cliff house, Steffy assured Liam that Kelly was fine at the beach with Finn. Liam said he wouldn't have given it a second thought before he'd seen Finn with Sheila at the courthouse. Since then, Liam didn't know if any of them were safe on Finn's watch. Liam insisted that one did not hug their attempted murderer, birth mother or not. Liam stated that he wasn't out to ruin Steffy's marriage. Steffy said she knew that but figured there had to be an explanation. Liam said that, until they found it, he'd be extra vigilant concerning her and Kelly.

Liam wondered how long Finn and Kelly would be. Steffy figured it wouldn't be long because Finn knew that Kelly had a date with her dad. Steffy said even though Liam saw Kelly all the time, Kelly missed Liam when he wasn't there. Steffy remarked that they'd known it wouldn't be an ideal situation; however, Liam had another daughter, and they'd had to make sacrifices.

Liam admitted that it killed him to be away from either girl. He spoke of the visceral drive to protect daughters. He thought of the day Kelly had been born. Liam said it had been amazing how much Kelly looked like Liam's mother. He stated that it physically hurt when he wasn't with Kelly. Steffy told him that he was an incredible father, and Kelly knew it. Liam said it was why he was concerned about Finn and Sheila, who had a pull on her son. Liam thought it made the whole situation dangerous.

Steffy tried to call Finn, but it went straight to voicemail. Liam guessed Kelly and Finn were having a good time. Liam wanted to make sure Steffy understood he'd never be worried about Kelly and Finn if it hadn't been for the courthouse hug. Steffy asserted that she owed Finn the benefit of the doubt. Liam disagreed that she did when it was about Sheila. Liam said they couldn't wait until something terrible happened "We act now," Liam said.

Steffy finally told Liam that she couldn't think about it, and she couldn't stand the thought of Finn embracing Sheila. Steffy asked if that was what Liam wanted to hear. Steffy asserted that she had to believe her husband would never put her or her children in jeopardy. Steffy said Finn knew exactly who Sheila was, and there was nothing Sheila could do to convince him to let Sheila back into their lives.

On the beach, Finn thanked "Mom" for saving Kelly's life. Not requiring thanks, Sheila said she was glad she'd been there. Finn expressed that he was more grateful than Sheila could ever know, "but you need to keep your distance. I can't see you." Sheila cautioned Kelly to be safe near the water. Kelly thanked Sheila, and Sheila silently left.

At Deacon's place, Deacon recalled Sheila saying that she was determined to see Finn and convince him that she could be a positive force in his family's life. Deacon figured it would take a miracle to make that happen. He heard a knock at the door and Sheila saying that it was her. He told himself not to be stupid, but then he opened the door, anyway.

"Oh, now you lock the door," Sheila murmured. She said Deacon wouldn't believe what had happened. "I saved Kelly's life," she said, smiling.

Later, Sheila explained that when she'd gone to see Finn at the hospital, he and Kelly had been leaving, and Sheila had decided to follow them. Sheila said Finn and Kelly had surfed and played in the sand, but Finn had gotten preoccupied with a call. Sheila had been watching Kelly, who had gone to the water and gotten swept under, and Sheila had gone after Kelly.

Deacon said Sheila had saved the life of Steffy's daughter. He thanked God that Sheila hadn't listened to him about stalking Finn, because if she had, things could have been different. Sheila said it only mattered that Kelly was safe. Deacon replied that he'd thought Sheila had been misguided in her approach to Finn, but Deacon thought she might have pulled off the impossible that day. She smiled.

At the cliff house, Steffy noted that Finn's phone was still going to voicemail. She assumed they were having fun on the beach, but she knew Liam had been looking forward to the time with Kelly. Liam talked about taking Kelly to Venice Beach. Steffy apologized, saying Finn knew that Liam and Kelly had plans. Liam said that before the hug, he'd never had a problem with Finn taking Kelly. However, Liam was no longer sure he could trust Finn to protect Kelly from Sheila.

The topic turned to Sheila's release, and Steffy was surprised that the court hadn't even told them that it could be an option. Liam and Steffy agreed that it had been crazy that Sheila had been released, and they were back to security and cameras everywhere. Steffy didn't want to think about it and said it was taking over her life. Liam didn't want their existence to become about that. He just wished he knew. Steffy said Kelly was safe.

Liam said Sheila wasn't logical or rational, and they had to treat her like an animal. Steffy promised that nothing would happen to Kelly, and Steffy planned to do whatever it took to keep the children safe. Liam said it wasn't Steffy; it was Finn. Steffy asserted that Finn loved Kelly as if she were his own. Liam replied that he'd believed that until he'd seen Finn embrace Sheila. Liam said it was his job to protect Kelly and Steffy. He stated that he loved Kelly, and he loved Steffy. "That's not going to change, Steffy," Liam added.

Liam received a message from work. He didn't want to deal with it, but Steffy asserted that Kelly was fine. Liam continued to worry about Kelly and said Steffy knew what Sheila was capable of. Steffy said Sheila had shot her and Finn and had cost Steffy years with her mother, but Steffy insisted that she had to believe in Finn and that there was an explanation. She said Finn had been nothing but loyal and loving to her, and the hug didn't mean Finn wouldn't protect them.

Liam remarked upon the time when Kelly had been born. He'd been thinking about it a lot. He said there had been "so much leading up to it. So much preparation and classes and planning and thinking and dreaming..." He stated that nothing had prepared them for her, and his life had never been the same as he'd stared in awe at Kelly. He felt he'd had to do all he could to keep her happy and safe, and he claimed Steffy was part of it. He said he had to protect Steffy, too, and that didn't change. He insisted that his gut was telling him that Finn was vulnerable to Sheila, and Liam couldn't let Steffy and Kelly be the price for it.

Liam received another message from work. Steffy insisted that it was okay for him to go. She promised she'd contact him when Finn and Kelly were back. Before Liam left, Steffy assured him that Finn would not put the children or her at risk. She said Finn knew what Sheila was capable of, but she appreciated Liam's concern. "Always," he replied.

Later, Kelly and Finn finally arrived home, entering through the kitchen door. Kelly announced that something scary had happened, and she'd almost drowned. Kelly explained that the ocean had taken her bucket, and she'd gotten sucked in while trying to get it. Finn stated that he'd checked Kelly out, and she was fine. Steffy hugged her daughter, thanking God that Finn had been there. Kelly stated that Finn's mother had saved her.

Steffy asked if Li had been there, but Kelly replied that it had been Sheila. "Sheila?" Steffy replied, looking at Finn. He said he could explain. Kelly promised she was okay and asked if she could take a shower. Steffy hugged her, but as soon as Kelly was out of the room, Steffy roared, "What the hell happened?"

Explaining what had happened, Finn said he'd put in his earbuds to take a call and turned his back to shield the call from the wind. Steffy yelled that one never turned their back on a child at the beach. Finn replied that it had happened fast, and he'd heard Kelly cry for help. He'd rushed into the water, and that had been when he'd seen Sheila. He said he'd been stunned, but it hadn't mattered because Kelly had been safe. He'd taken Kelly from Sheila and had made sure that Kelly was okay. "Okay?" Steffy yelled, saying her daughter could have drowned.

Steffy asked what Finn had been thinking to turn his back and what Sheila had been doing there. Finn said he didn't know, but he thanked God that she had been. Steffy looked at him as if he was crazy. He said if Sheila hadn't been there, "I mean, she saved her life. My mother saved Kelly's life!"

At Spencer, Liam was preoccupied with thoughts of Finn hugging Sheila. Wyatt arrived, wondering why Liam wasn't with Kelly. Liam explained that Kelly was at the beach with Finn, and Wyatt asked if Liam was jealous. Liam reminded Wyatt that Liam had valid concerns. Agreeing, Wyatt asked how it had gone when Liam had told Steffy about the hug.

Liam shared that Steffy hadn't been thrilled, but she hadn't reacted the way Liam had. Wyatt asked why not. Liam said Steffy wanted to believe in her husband, who wouldn't let any harm come to the kids. Liam stated that he didn't share that bias and didn't trust Finn.

In the executive office at Spencer Publications, Wyatt was shocked by Liam's decision to show Steffy a video of "Finn hugging his psychopathic birth mother." He was even more shocked by Steffy's nonplussed reaction. Liam explained that it was normal for a wife to want to defend her husband. Liam noted that he would not be as understanding as Steffy. "Steffy can't turn a blind eye forever," Liam added.

Liam became defensive as Wyatt wondered if Liam was using the Sheila/Finn hug as a way to get back into Steffy's life. Liam insisted that he was not. Wyatt asked if Liam thought that Finn would deliberately try to harm Kelly. Liam was certain that Finn would not. Wyatt remained unconvinced about Liam's motives. Wyatt pointed out that Liam had kissed Steffy twice and that he was holding on to evidence that could jeopardize Finn and Steffy's relationship. Wyatt ordered Liam to be honest with himself and figure out how much of his reaction was about wanting to keep Kelly safe and how much was from a desire to get back together with Steffy.

At Deacon's apartment, Deacon praised Sheila for saving Kelly. "I didn't even think. I just knew I had to act," Sheila replied softly. Sheila recalled that Finn had only turned his back on Kelly for a moment. Sheila became intense as she declared that Finn had to have realized how much she loved him and how she would do anything for him and his family.

Deacon wondered if Sheila's "pretty selfless" gesture might finally be the thing that proved Sheila should be in Finn's life. Sheila once again became soft-spoken as she explained that she'd had no ulterior motives for saving Kelly. "All I was thinking about was Kelly and her safety," she said. Sheila claimed that she treasured Kelly -- and even Steffy -- because they were part of her family. "I know I can be a good force in Finn's life," Sheila promised.

Sheila beamed as she told Deacon that Finn had called her "Mom." Sheila said that she would never forget that moment. "I wasn't a monster, and I wasn't feared. I was just a mother," Sheila said as tears welled in her eyes. Deacon pleaded with Sheila not to get her hopes up because he wasn't sure that Steffy would suddenly welcome Sheila into the Forrester family fold. "I saved her daughter's life... She's got to be thankful to me," Sheila countered.

Deacon wasn't sure that Steffy would react in the way that Sheila believed she would. He noted that Sheila wasn't even supposed to be anywhere near Finn or Kelly. Still, Deacon did not want to detract from Sheila's heroics. He recommended that Sheila continue to do selfless gestures -- like staying away from Steffy's family. Sheila recoiled and snarled that Deacon was out of his mind.

"My baby could have drowned," Steffy cried. Steffy yelled that one should never, ever turn their back on a child that was near the water. Finn admitted his "stupid and careless" act but insisted Kelly was safe and sound in her room. Finn then told Steffy that she should be grateful for his mothers' actions and cut Sheila some slack. Finn's request didn't sit well with Steffy.

"Sheila, your hero, was willing to let us die after shooting us. Have you forgotten?" Steffy snapped. Finn replied that he had not forgotten. "Today, Sheila saved a life," Finn fired back. Steffy questioned why Sheila had been at the beach in the first place. She proffered that Sheila had probably been stalking Finn and Kelly. Finn argued that Steffy needed to worry less about why Sheila had been at the beach and be more thankful that she had been.

"She has terrorized my family for years," Steffy said sternly. Steffy again reminded Finn that Sheila had shot both of them and left them for dead. Finn repeated that Sheila had saved Kelly's life. Finn became emotional as he said he did not know how he would have been able to go on if something bad had happened to Kelly. "Did you thank her?" Steffy asked. "How could I not?" Finn replied. Steffy then asked if Finn had embraced Sheila. Finn said that he didn't think that he had.

Steffy then asked Finn if he had embraced Sheila anywhere else. A perplexed look swept over Finn's face. Steffy told Finn that she had wondered where Finn had disappeared to after the judge had set Sheila free. "You saw her after she was released. She embraced you... and you embraced her back," Steffy said icily. Finn admitted that he'd hugged Sheila. "How could you do this? How am I supposed to ever trust you again?" Steffy raged.

At Deacon's place, Sheila was in a robe, thinking of hugging Finn and saving Kelly. Deacon said he needed to get back to the restaurant, but he wasn't sure Sheila should stay there. He suggested that she leave town that day. Sheila disagreed, certain that she was meant to be there. She said what had happened that day was a miracle, and it would give her a second chance with her son. Sheila believed it was fate that she would have a relationship with Finn.

Deacon replied that it hadn't been fate; it had been that Bill's plan had epically failed. Sheila said she'd thought she'd be behind bars, unable to touch her son, and his kids wouldn't know of her existence. Sheila stated that he believed in second chances, and everyone deserved one -- even Sheila. She had felt the intensity in Finn's embrace, and she'd seen it in Finn's face when she'd saved Kelly. She said he'd called her "Mom," and that was how she knew Finn would want her in his life.

Deacon told Sheila that she should be proud of herself but not press her luck. Sheila replied that she wasn't going anywhere. He stated that he should have his head examined for caring about Sheila, but she couldn't stay there. He said he had good relationships with Brooke and Hope, but he could lose everything if he associated with Sheila. Deacon wanted Sheila to enjoy her freedom, but she just couldn't do it there.

Sheila said she got it, and it was complicated. She asked if Deacon was completely sure. Deacon looked up when he heard Sheila's robe drop. She stood before him in a black teddy. She noted that he hadn't gotten rid of all her things. He asked if she thought that would work. She replied that it would definitely work, "Daddy." Kissing him, Sheila said, "Mama wants her big Daddy." She shoved him down on the couch, and he grinned.

At Spencer, Wyatt offered to do a feature story about Sheila in Eye on Fashion, but Liam said it was probably all over social media, anyway. Wyatt stated his concern for Steffy and the kids, too, but he wondered how much of it was about wanting to get Steffy back. Liam insisted that the concern for his family was real, but Wyatt pressed Liam to admit that more was going on. "Just tell me you want another shot at Steffy," Wyatt persisted.

Liam stammered, saying it was dumb because he'd been married to Hope that whole time, and Steffy was happily married to Dr. "Do No Wrong." Wyatt insisted that Liam couldn't deny that more was going on, and Liam had felt it the moment his lips had touched Steffy's.

A flashback of Hope kissing Thomas played along with a flashback of Liam encountering Steffy. In a voice-over, Liam said it had been a confusing and devastating time, and he'd run into Steffy while he'd still been reeling. Before things had even made sense, there Steffy had been, as beautiful as ever. She was the mother of his child, and he'd loved her more than he'd thought possible. In that moment, he'd started to think that losing Steffy had been the worst mistake of his life. It had just happened, and he'd kissed her. The problem was that he hadn't been able to stop thinking about the kiss ever since.

Liam stated that Wyatt had gotten Liam, who kept replaying the Rome kiss in his head. He asked how he couldn't; however, he insisted that it wasn't where his head was, and the most important thing was Steffy and Kelly's well-being. Liam insisted Finn couldn't keep them safe.

At the cliff house, Steffy said she didn't know how she could trust Finn, who hadn't told her that he'd embraced Sheila. Steffy said that Sheila had profoundly hurt them, but Finn had put his arms around her after promising to keep her away from them. Steffy asked Finn why.

Unsure of an answer, Finn said that at that moment, Sheila hadn't been Sheila Carter, the woman who'd caused so much damage. Finn didn't want to make excuses because it had just happened. He hadn't thought it through, nor had he thought he'd ever have to explain it. He asked how Steffy had even known about it. Steffy said it didn't matter, but Finn replied that it did to him.

"Liam told me," Steffy revealed. She said Liam had followed Finn and seen him with Sheila. Steffy said Liam had picked up a weird vibe from Finn. Finn replied that Liam had been out to get Finn ever since Liam had left Hope. Steffy yelled that Liam had seen Finn hugging Sheila, and Liam hadn't just made it up. Finn replied that Liam had run to Steffy as quickly as he could.

Steffy asked if Liam should have kept it from her, and she said Liam was worried. Finn rasped that he could protect his own family. Finn was sure Liam had loved telling Steffy everything. Steffy stated that Liam had shown her because he'd recorded it. Finn wasn't surprised. He replied that Liam was obvious, and he wanted Steffy back.

Not knowing what Finn was talking about, Steffy said Liam was thinking about Kelly and trying to protect them. "From me. You think that you need to be protected from me," Finn said. Steffy said that she hated that Bill's plan had failed and that Sheila was roaming free. Steffy hated what had happened to Kelly that day, and Steffy hated most of all that Sheila was his mother. Steffy said Sheila felt she had a claim to him and to Steffy's family through him.

Finn responded that Sheila was a part of him. Furious, Steffy said it wasn't true. Finn disagreed, saying Sheila loved him and had given birth to him. Steffy replied that Sheila was incapable of love, but Steffy no longer had faith that Finn understood that. Finn assured Steffy that she could have faith in him, and he insisted that Liam was manipulating her. Steffy said there was no explaining away hugging Sheila.

Finn admitted to hugging Sheila and being grateful that she'd saved Kelly's life, but he said Liam should never have gotten involved. Finn decided that he didn't want Liam in their house again. "Well, I don't think you have to worry about that now," Steffy replied. Shaking her head, she said she couldn't have the children there when Finn was so vulnerable to Sheila. Steffy decided that she would take the kids and go to her grandfather's house.

Finn asked Steffy not to do it. He was sorry for what had happened with Kelly and for hugging Sheila. He didn't know what had come over him. Steffy replied that it worried her that he had a connection to Sheila that he couldn't explain. Finn said Steffy could trust him and his love for the children. He said he'd been drawn to Sheila in the moment, but it wouldn't happen again. Steffy replied that she couldn't take the chance. Finn stated that she was overreacting.

Fed up, Steffy decided that she had to get out of there. Finn insisted that it was about Liam, who'd put doubts in her mind. Finn yelled that because Liam's marriage was falling apart, Liam wanted Steffy. Steffy yelled that it had nothing to do with Liam. Finn insisted that Steffy was his world, and he'd protect her.

Steffy said she'd fallen in love with Finn and then discovered that he had the birth mother "from hell." Finn promised to keep Sheila away, but Steffy insisted that Finn had a connection to Sheila. Finn replied that nothing was more important than Steffy and the kids. Finn begged her not to take the kids and walk out the door.

At Spencer Publications, Liam attempted to do some work, but he was distracted by memories of his life with Steffy.

At the beach house, Finn pleaded, "Please don't walk out that door." While Steffy appreciated Finn's apology about what had happened at the beach, she said that she could not live a life where Finn would not keep Sheila away from their family. Finn countered that he'd lay his life down for Steffy and the kids.

Finn told Steffy that Liam was trying to destroy their marriage. "He wants you back. Don't let him erode your faith and your trust in me," Finn snapped. Steffy replied that Finn was the one that had caused her to question him -- not Liam. Steffy repeated that she and the kids would be moving to the Forrester mansion, where they would be safe.

Deacon and Sheila reveled in the aftermath of lovemaking on the sofa. As Deacon tried to catch his breath, Sheila seductively -- and rhetorically -- asked, "Not bad for a jailbird, huh?" Deacon told Sheila that she was no longer stuck in "that hellhole." Sheila vowed to make the most of "every moment of [her] newly found freedom."

Later, Deacon mused that he was going to use an "ancient and little-known erotic pressure point technique" he had learned in Kathmandu. Sheila chuckled and asked if Deacon had ever been to Kathmandu. When whatever he was attempting to accomplish didn't work, Deacon explained that he "hadn't compensated for the hemispheres." Wanting to be serious for a moment, Sheila thanked Deacon for being the only person that she could always count on.

Back at the beach house, Finn was looking out at the ocean when Li dropped by for a visit. Finn began sobbing when he saw Li. She raced over to him to give him a hug. Finn told his mother that Steffy had walked out on him. Li was shocked and asked for details of what had happened. Finn told Li about the scary moments at the beach and how Sheila had saved Kelly's life.

"Sheila saved Kelly's life?" Li asked incredulously. Finn said that his suggestion that Steffy cut Sheila some slack had created friction between him and Steffy. Li couldn't believe that Finn had uttered those words. She asked her son if his feelings for Sheila had changed. "Is she no longer that crazy lunatic that tried to kill you and Steffy and me?" Li raged.

Finn shared that there were other reasons that Steffy was mad at him. Finn told Li that he had hugged Sheila after she'd been freed from jail. A clearly upset Li said that she understood why Steffy had walked out on Finn.

At the Forrester mansion, Steffy told Kelly and Hayes that they would have a great time living at their great-grandfather's house. The kids headed off to draw with some "fancy colored pencils." Liam arrived at the mansion after being summoned by Steffy via text message.

A tearful Steffy told Liam about Kelly's near-death experience at the beach. Moments later, Kelly raced into her daddy's arms. Liam was stunned when Kelly revealed that she hadn't been rescued by Finn, but rather by Finn's "mommy." Kelly headed back to do more art projects. Liam demanded to know why Sheila had been at the beach with Kelly and Finn. Steffy explained that it seemed like Sheila's presence had been just a coincidence.

Liam became even more angry when Steffy related how Finn had turned his back on Kelly to take a work call. Steffy, sobbing, repeated that Kelly was safe and that they needed to be thankful for that. Liam declared that he no longer wanted Finn to be alone with Kelly. Steffy agreed. She informed Liam that she and the kids were going to be living with Eric for the time being.

Kelly returned to the parlor with something she had drawn. She asked why Steffy was crying. Steffy replied that she and Liam were just happy that Kelly was safe. Liam took his daughter's hand and told her that he would always do everything he could to keep her safe. "I love you so much... and Mommy," Liam said softly. Steffy, Kelly, and Liam all shared an embrace.
