Brooke and Ridge bask in their renewed happiness and declare their commitment to the future that they've always dreamed of. Brooke remembers Sally's threats and tells Ridge about Sally's blackmail attempt, insisting that it had nothing to do with Brooke's decision to tell Ridge the truth. Ridge is angered at Sally's nerve, telling Brooke that Sally obviously underestimated her.

At that moment, Sally, who has grown tired of waiting for Brooke to call, shows up at Ridge and Brooke's door intending to push Brooke into giving back her company by threatening to tell Ridge the truth right then and there. Ridge overhears Sally's attempts to intimidate Brooke and comes down stairs to toy with her a bit before revealing that he already knows the truth. A disgruntled Sally leaves, but not before warning Ridge that he will regret forgiving Brooke for her betrayal.

Brooke suddenly realizes that Sally could tell Stephanie before Brooke gets a chance to and if Stephanie is to know, Brooke would rather that she find out from them. She runs upstairs to get changed so that they can get to Stephanie first.

Eric stops Bridget from storming out of his office by apologizing, but Bridget tells him to apologize to Deacon, which he refuses to do. Bridget tells Eric that watching him trick Deacon out of his son's inheritance turns her stomach and Eric counters that Bridget is stupid if she lets Deacon back into her life. Bridget is crushed that Eric would call her stupid and their argument escalated to yelling until Bridget says that she may never trust Eric again and leaves.

Deacon sits alone in the dark and Bridget walks in as Deacon is taking off his wedding ring. Bridget apologizes for the role she unknowingly played in helping Eric deceive Deacon. Deacon tells her that she has nothing to apologize for and that he may have lost control of his son's stock, but he gained something far more valuable-Bridget's confidence and trust. He admits that Eric has every reason to distrust him and that he will never come between Bridget and her father again because he's not that kind of person anymore. Bridget tells Deacon that she sees something in him. She tries to back track, saying that she would have defended anyone in that situation, but Deacon calls her bluff, saying that he knows she still has feelings for him. They kiss sweetly and Deacon asks her if she ever wonders how it could be between them if they were in love now. He tells her that, if given the chance, he could make up for all he'd done and with her at his side there would be no stopping him. They fall on the bed in a passionate kiss just as Eric walks in and tells Deacon to get his hands off of his daughter.

At the hospital, Bridget tries to explain to the nurse what happened, worried that he might not survive. Meanwhile, doctors try to save a seriously injured Deacon. Eric apologizes to Bridget, saying it was an accident. Police officers arrive at the hospital to question Eric and Bridget. The police detective tells Eric to hope Deacon survives, or Eric could end up on murder charges. Just then Dr. Mark comes out of the OR, looking glum. He explains to them that Deacon survived the surgery and they were able to remove the bullet, but the bullet caused damage to Deacon's spine and he may be paralyzed. Eric tries to comfort Bridget, but Bridget doesn't want to talk. She can only think about Deacon. Deacon is wheeled out of recovery and Bridget rushes to his side. He tells her that the doctors must have given him some heavy painkillers because he can't feel anything.

In the OB exam room, Darla and Sally talk. Darla is excited about moving in with Thorne. Sally is anxious to hear Stephanie's reaction to Brooke's situation. Darla speculates that Stephanie may forgive Brooke. Sally tells Darla that she hopes to find out something else about Brooke, since Brooke and Darla have the same obstetrician. Darla wants to know what Sally is up to, but is interrupted when the doctor comes in for Darla's exam. Sally excuses herself and goes into the doctor's private office next door. She finds a sheet of paper listing Brooke's paternity testing.

At Stephanie's, Stephanie can't believe that Brooke betrayed Ridge with Nick. Ridge asks Stephanie to try to understand. He tells his mother that he has forgiven Brooke. He asks Stephanie to forgive her, too. Stephanie tells Brooke that she thought Brooke had changed. Brooke says that she and Ridge can still have the family they've always wanted, but it won't be the same without Stephanie. Brooke asks for Stephanie's forgiveness, but Stephanie says no and leaves the room. Ridge comforts Brooke.
