The Bold and the Beautiful's Kim Matula set to make a big splash in new comedy film

Former The Bold and the Beautiful star Kim Matula brings a famous comedian to life in a brand-new movie with some very familiar characters.

Kim Matula, who brought Hope Logan to life on The Bold and the Beautiful from 2010 to 2016, will make a splash on the big screen by bringing a legendary comedy actress to life in the new film Saturday Night.

Based on the early days of Saturday Night Live, Saturday Night recently released its official trailer featuring Matula, who plays Jane Curtin in the film. Curtin, who went on to star in the 1980s sitcom Kate and Allie was one of SNL's original cast members.

Saturday Night tells the story of what really happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to the first SNL broadcast on October 11, 1975. Aside from Matula, it stars Lamorne Morris as Garrett Morris, Dylan O'Brien as Dan Aykroyd, Ella Hunt as Gilda Radner, Cory Michael Smith as Chevy Chase, Matt Wood as John Belushi, and Matthew Rhys as George Carlin.

In the trailer, you can see Matula's Curtin posing with the other SNL cast members before the show begins, as well as backstage with Lamorne Morris' Garrett Morris. She can also be spotted in a variety of other SNL behind-the-scenes moments.

Matula left the role of B&B's Hope in 2016. Since then, she has kept herself busy in Hollywood on such series as True Lies, The Resident, and The Sex Lives of College Girls. She even played Fox News host Laura Ingraham in American Horror Story.

Matula shared the trailer on Instagram, with an apt description of what we'll see in the film.

"They have 90 minutes to get their shit together," she said. "Jason Reitman's #saturdaynightmovie is coming exclusively to theatres October 11th!!"

When Matula's former B&B co-star Linsey Godfrey (ex-Caroline Spencer, now Sarah Horton, Days of our Lives), saw the trailer, she couldn't wait to share her excitement and congratulate her friend.

"It's here!! The trailer for @kimbpics new movie Saturday Night!!" she wrote on Instagram. "I'm so excited for her and I'm so excited for this movie! When I heard she was auditioning I knew it was hers. Congratulations to my bestest of friends Kimberly! I love you so much!"

Saturday Night hits theaters exactly 49 years to the day after SNL first premiered on NBC. The milestone 50th-anniversary season of SNL begins on September 28.
