Rena Sofer opens up about her B&B exit

The Bold and the Beautiful's Rena Sofer (Quinn Fuller) reveals why she made the decision to leave, how her departure affects Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter Walton), and if she's eyeing a return to General Hospital.

Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful are still getting over the shocking news that Rena Sofer has decided to leave her nine-year run as designer Quinn Fuller. The actress revealed that she's been wanting to go for a while, and the end of the storyline between Quinn and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) seemed like a natural place for her to end her B&B chapter.

Of course, the big question that a lot of fans have is whether or not her exit means Saint-Victor will be written off the show. Losing Sofer is devastating enough, especially because it means a permanent end to Quarter (the pair's fan-given nickname). Losing Saint-Victor on top of it all would be doubly heartbreaking. But fortunately, Sofer assures fans that her beloved co-star isn't going anywhere.

"One of my greatest accomplishments on this show is being part of showing the world what a great actor Lawrence Saint-Victor is. He is a leading man who can pull front-burner story and I was so honored to work with him," she says in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest. "For those of you invested in Quarter, just know that Rena Sofer is happy and moving on, but Lawrence, who plays Carter, has so much more to give you."

As for herself, Sofer reveals that she's planning to focus on her thriving pottery business, as well as auditioning for primetime and film roles. The road is open for her in every direction -- except for short trips back to B&B, which she says she is not interested in.

"It's hard enough to be on a soap opera when you don't have a story, but to come back in a recurring role to a show that you were fully invested in as a daily player would not be a comfortable place for me. That is not a step in the direction I want to go," she declares. "I want to move forward with my life into the scary unknown."

That does not, however, mean that Sofer won't consider doing another soap opera. In fact, she is already aware that some General Hospital viewers hope that she'll reprise her early 90s role of Lois Cerullo, and she would welcome the opportunity if all the cards fell into place.

"Lois to this day is still one of my favorite characters I have ever helped create and play," she enthuses. "I've spoken to General Hospital in the past about stepping back into Lois's nails but the situation has never worked out. All the stars would have to be aligned for me to step back into that role -- but if they did, it would be a very exciting road in my journey moving forward."

How do you feel about Rena Sofer's decision to leave B&B? Are you relieved to hear that her exit won't affect Lawrence Saint-Victor's status with the show?
