The Bold and the Beautiful's Wayne Brady guest stars in Showtime's American Gigolo

The pilot episode of Showtime's American Gigolo will feature a guest appearance by Let's Make a Deal host Wayne Brady (ex-Reese Buckingham, The Bold and the Beautiful), which will turn into a recurring role if the drama is given a series order.

The legendary 1980 neo-noir crime film American Gigolo is being made into a Showtime series, and popular daytime star Wayne Brady -- who hosts the game show Let's Make a Deal and played The Bold and the Beautiful's Reese Buckingham -- will be making an appearance in the pilot.

Deadline reports that Brady will star as Lorenzo in the reboot, which will pick up 18 years after the film's original character, a male escort named Julian (played by Richard Gere in the movie, to be played by Jon Bernthal in the series), was arrested for murder.

Lorenzo is the best friend, roommate, and mentor of Julian, who is trying to find his way in the L.A. sex industry while also looking to find out who set him up to go to prison and attempting to reconnect with his true love, Michelle (played by Lauren Hutton in the film, to be played by Gretchen Mol in the series).

If American Gigolo goes to series, then Brady will be bumped up to recurring status on the Showtime drama.

Wayne Brady has made his mark on stage and screen as an actor, singer, dancer, improviser, songwriter, and television personality. He was named the winner of season two of The Masked Singer in December 2019, after which he dropped an original single titled "Flirtin' with Forever." Brady is known across America as host of the CBS game show Let's Make a Deal, which has earned him a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host. In 2014, he picked up a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Original Song "30,000 Reasons to Love Me," which he performed on Let's Make A Deal. He previously won two Daytime Emmys for his role as the host of The Wayne Brady Show. He also picked up a Primetime Emmy Award in 2003 for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program for his work on Whose Line Is It Anyway?. His time on The Bold and the Beautiful earned him an Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series nomination in 2019.

Some of his other credits include Chappelle's Show, Colony, Aftermath, How I Met Your Mother, Key and Peele, Everybody Hates Chris, 30 Rock, and Black Lightning.
