Watch for Sean Kanan (ex-Deacon Sharpe, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-A.J. Quartermaine, General Hospital) in More Than Miyagi, a documentary about the life of his iconic The Karate Kid costar Pat Morita.
Sean Kanan may be known to daytime fans for his roles as Deacon Sharpe on The Bold and the Beautiful and A.J. Quartermaine on General Hospital, but he also resides in the hearts of The Karate Kid fans for his role in the third installment of the martial arts drama franchise. Kanan played the role of professional karate fighter Mike Barnes in the 1989 film opposite legendary actors like Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita -- the latter of whom is the center of a new documentary titled More Than Miyagi.
Though Morita is best known for his role as Mr. Miyagi, a karate master and mentor in The Karate Kid films, his life story includes much more than the martial arts franchise, which the upcoming documentary explores.
"The Oscar-nominated actor... left behind a painfully revealing autobiographical record of his much-too-brief time here on Earth, tracing his journey from being bed-bound as a boy to the bright lights and discrimination in Hollywood," reads an official description of the film. "Deep inside that sweet, generous, multi-talented performer seethed an army of demons that even alcohol and drugs couldn't mask."

More Than Miyagi is set to be released on iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, Google Play, DVD, and Blu-ray on Friday, February 5. Check out a teaser trailer below and let us know what you think about the documentary and Kanan's part in the project.
Kanan began working as an actor in the 1980s, landing roles in shows like Werewolf, Baby Boom, The Outsiders, and Step by Step. His first daytime role was GH's A.J., which he played from 1993 to 1997 and again from 2012 to 2014. He's also known for playing Deacon Sharpe on-again, off-again on both The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless from 2000 to 2017.
