Jacob Young (ex-Rick Forrester, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-J.R. Chandler, All My Children) shares that he is currently filming a role for the High School Musical series.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is suddenly getting very soapy. Not only does the ostentatiously-titled Disney+ project already have Days of our Lives' alum Olivia Rose Keegan (ex-Claire Brady) on board, but it's also going to have soap alum Jacob Young (ex-Rick Forrester, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-J.R. Chandler, All My Children; ex-Lucky Spencer, General Hospital), as well.
Young took to Instagram stories to share news about his new gig, simply writing, "Great first day on High School Musical the Series."
The first season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series followed a high school drama club and their faculty advisers as they worked their way toward the opening night of their school's first-ever production of High School Musical: The Musical. New romances blossomed, old friendships were tested while new ones formed, rivalries flared, and lives were changed forever as the students discovered the transformative power that only high school theater can provide.

How Young will fit into the High School Musical world remains a mystery at this time, but rumor has it the upcoming second season of the series will find the students staging a production of Beauty and the Beast. As Soap Central previously reported, DAYS' Keegan has joined the second season and will be playing the role of Lily, "an energetic and adorable East High freshman whose sweetness masks her insecurity and highly competitive nature."
Disney+ has confirmed that a special one-off episode titled High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special will premiere on the streaming platform on December 11, 2020, with season two of the series following shortly afterwards in 2021.
Young made his daytime debut on B&B, where he played Rick Forrester from 1997 to 1999. He went on to play GH's Lucky from 2000 to 2003, and then took on the role of All My Children's J.R. in 2003. When AMC was canceled in 2011, Young returned to the role of B&B's Rick. He was dropped to recurring status at the CBS soap opera in 2018 and has since been pursuing a music career and other acting roles. Some of his more recent projects include Killer Vacation, The Road Home for Christmas, yA, and Angel.
