The Bold and the Beautiful actress Karla Mosley has announced that her "incredible journey" as Maya Avant has come to an end.
Fans of The Bold and the Beautiful were promised more of the Avant family this autumn, but sadly, the storylines to come won't be including Karla Mosley in the role of Maya Avant. The actress says she has exited the CBS soap opera that she has called home since 2013.
"Celebrating the incredible journey of #MayaAvant!" she posted on Instagram. "And bidding a fond farewell to her with gratitude to all of YOU for watching. More to come from me -- stay tuned to my IG!"

Mosley took on the role of Maya in 2013 and was part of a groundbreaking storyline in which the character revealed that she was transgender, which resulted in some front-burner moments between Mosley and Maya's lover, Rick (Jacob Young), who eventually accepted Maya as she was and married her. Mosley was last seen on-screen as Maya in May of 2019.
In August, B&B executive producer and head writer Brad Bell teased that he had written a couple of members of the Avant family back into storyline, though he hasn't revealed which members of the Avant family will return. If it won't be Maya, then fans can look forward to possible returns from Julius Avant (last played by Obba Babatund), Vivienne Avant (last played by Anna Maria Horsford), and/or Nicole Avant (last played by Reign Edwards). All bets are on Nicole, as her husband, Zende (now played by Delon de Metz), just recently returned to the canvas. However, Maya could still return, played by another actress. There has been a call from LGBTQ activists to cast a transgender actress in the role of Maya, though there has been no indication that those requests have led to Mosley's departure. Keep checking back to Soap Central for updates as they come.
In addition to her B&B role, Karla Mosley has appeared in Angel from Hell, Hart of Dixie, and Hi-5. She also played Guiding Light's Christina Moore from 2008 to 2009.
