B&B stars appear on ET to chat about returning to work

Entertainment Tonight correspondent Matt Cohen (ex-Griffin Munro, General Hospital) chats with stars from The Bold and the Beautiful about how they've returned to work.

There's been a lot of buzz about how The Bold and the Beautiful was able to resume production last month in the middle of the COVID-19 crisis -- with tons of focus placed on the fact that the stars are filming with mannequins and their real-life partners and spouses. But there's a lot more to the story than love scenes with sex dolls!

In a clip that aired on the Wednesday episode of Entertainment Tonight, correspondent Matt Cohen (ex-Griffin Munro, General Hospital) caught up with the soap's executive producer, Brad Bell, and several of the series' stars to get the scoop on what's really happening behind the scenes.

One of the tricks is that while filming solo scenes that are supposed to look like duo scenes, the actors are being directed to look at objects right in front of their faces (but still off camera) so that their eyes focus in the appropriate spot and their voice is at the appropriate level. And of course, yes, Bell does dish on how they're making the actors' real-life lovers look like their fictional B&B lovers.

"We are wigging them and we are matching, of course, wardrobe and makeup," Bell says before joking, "Once in a while, if you look closely, you'll see a sideburn that's a little longer when they get in tight on that kiss!"

As Soap Central previously reported, B&B has been successfully back in production since Wednesday, June 24, and returned with all-new episodes on Monday, July 20. The show has implemented many safety protocols, including regular coronavirus testing and a one-way system in and out of the filming area. To learn more, check out these interesting behind-the-scenes details shared by B&B actress Denise Richards (Shauna Fulton), who returned to work and experienced the new COVID-19 filming rules the week of June 29.
