B&B's John McCook on having to "suck it up" when he feels "malaise about the show"

The Bold and the Beautiful's John McCook (Eric Forrester) opens up about occasionally battling boredom on the CBS soap.

When you play the same character for three decades, there are bound to be bouts of boredom. And while most soap opera actors would never actually admit to that, The Bold and the Beautiful's John McCook (Eric Forrester) decided to live up to his show's name and boldly declare that yes, he occasionally gets tired of being on the international soap.

"Sometimes when it's weddings and funerals and talking about everybody else, once in a while I'll get a kind of malaise about the show, about my part on the show," he tells the Australian publication The Age.

However, that's not to say he isn't grateful for the past 30 years and the good fortune he's had to do what he loves practically every day of his life.

"[I've never been] unhappy to be there. Not at all," he says, adding that everyone's part on the show "fluctuates" between being front-burner and back-burner, and it really doesn't matter which you are in any given moment. "Everything that's happening on this show affects me, one way or another, as a character. [When you feel bored, you have to] suck it up and embrace what it is about the show that you can enjoy. That's the job. Glad to have it. Glad to do it."
