Politics and Hollywood have gone hand in hand since the silver screen was invented, but US Senator John McCain isn't too happy with the latest marriage of the two, which involves B&B producer Colleen Bell.
Soap operas are known for being dramatic, but US Senator John McCain put those dramatics to shame during a recent speech regarding The Bold and the Beautiful producer, Colleen Bell. The exec, who's also the wife of the show's head writer/executive producer, Bradley P. Bell, has officially been named U.S. Ambassador to Hungary -- a decision that has rocketed McCain into a fury.
"We're about to vote on a totally unqualified individual to be ambassador to a nation which is very important to our national security interest," the politician stated on the Senate floor this Tuesday. "I am not against political appointees... but here we are, a nation that's on the verge of seceded its sovereignty to a neo-fascist dictator getting in bed with Vladimir Putin and we're gonna send the producer of The Bold and the Beautiful as our ambassador."
"I urge my colleagues to put a stop to this foolishness," he continued. "I urge a no vote."

Despite McCain's irate rant, the Senate confirmed Bell with a vote of 52-42.
But the drama doesn't stop there. When questioned about the decision during a press conference later that day, White House spokesman John Earnest stumbled in his response and defense of the choice to give Bell such diplomatic responsibility.
"(She's) somebody who obviously has succeeded in, you know, in the business world," he concluded. "And she is somebody that the President has confidence will be able to maintain our relationship with the government and the people of Hungary."
Prior to becoming Ambassador to Hungary, Bell was appointed by President Obama to the President's Advisory Committee on the Arts at the Kennedy Center, a position she accepted in 2010.
