Get ready to see another familiar Oakdale resident pop up in the new season of the Emmy-winning digital series Anacostia. Lauren B. Martin, known for her role as Camille Bennett, joins other As the World Turns vets Martha Byrne and Elizabeth Hubbard in the critically acclaimed series.
"We are incredibly honored to welcome Lauren to Anacostia," series creator Anthony Anderson tells Soap Central. "Martha Byrne recommended her for a role last year, and I said I have the perfect role for her in Season 6."
"This role of Alexandra Simmons and her controversial storyline will certainly be the topic of much debate," Anderson adds. "And Lauren is just the actress needed to bring the character and story to life."
Martin played ATWT's Camille from 1998 to 2000. Before that, she enjoyed a two-year run as Jenkins on Another World. She also had roles on All My Children and Guiding Light.
"My prayers were answered!! Thank you my dear love Martha, and my dear Anthony," Martin said of her casting. "I am thrilled and honored [and] challenged and excited to play [Alexandra]."Another soap favorite, Jennifer Bassey (Marian Colby, All My Children), received a Daytime Emmy nomination for her work on Anacostia this year in the Outstanding Guest Performer in a Digital Daytime Drama Series.
In its first five seasons, Anacostia has racked up oodles of awards and honors, including eight Indie Series Awards and a 2015 Daytime Emmy for Martha Byrne in the Outstanding Performer in a New Approaches Drama Series category.
