Solo Leveling is one of the most popular anime in recent history and has captivated viewers through its world of gates, monsters, and hunters. Given that the exciting second season of the series ended with no announcement of a sequel, fans may wonder where they can pick up the manhwa.

Solo Leveling Season 2 adapts up to chapter 110 of the manhwa. However, those who wish to pick it up should start reading from chapter 108, as the anime skips a lot of important content.

Solo Leveling’s source material is a novel written by Chugong, which came out in 2016. The series drastically rose in popularity through its manhwa adaptation, which was serialized in Kakao. With illustrations provided by Dubu, it became one of the most beloved manhwa of all time, running from 2017 to 2023 with a total of 200 chapters.

The series is set in a world where humanity lives in fear of monsters who come out from gates and dungeons. Their only line of defence is the Hunters, gifted individuals with supernatural powers.

The protagonist, Sung Jinwoo, is initially a man known as the weakest Hunter in the world and is looked down upon by those around him. However, his life drastically changes after a dungeon exploration goes wrong, and he gains a mysterious System allowing him to level up in strength.

Having become the only Hunter in the entire world who can keep growing more powerful through training and challenges, Jinwoo works relentlessly to become a man capable of protecting his loved ones and facing the intimidating celestial enemies threatening humanity.

Since Solo Leveling was the first manhwa that effectively gained global recognition and put Korean comics “on the map”, it was only a matter of time before it received an animated series.

However, fans were pleasantly surprised to find that it would be adapted into a Japanese anime. Additionally, the studio would be none other than A-1 Pictures, veterans who had worked on Kaguya-sama, 86, Your Lie in April, and many more titles.

Finally, the first season of the Solo Leveling anime aired in the Winter 2024 season with 12 episodes and received rave reviews. Soon after, the second season was confirmed, titled Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadow.

This anime sequel recently completed airing in the Winter 2025 season, featuring 13 exhilarating episodes. It technically completed adapting the manhwa’s Recruitment Arc, which ends in chapter 110. However, several key scenes were missed.

Hence, fans should pick up the Solo Leveling manhwa from chapter 108, which picks up from the aftermath of the Jeju Island Arc. This will cover the funeral for the deceased Hunters from the Jeju Island Raid while also showcasing the world’s reaction to Sung Jinwoo, a potential National Level Hunter.

Soon after, Jinwoo is approached by the American Government, who hope to recruit him. When the protagonist meets their upgrader, who is able to awaken Hunters, however, his powers send a chill down her spine. This causes the Americans’ efforts to fail while deepening the mystery surrounding Jinwoo’s abilities.

The series only keeps getting more enjoyable as Jinwoo sets up his own Guild, gets closer to Cha Hae-In, and confronts the Architect, the entity responsible for Jinwoo’s System. All of this builds up to the grand war against the Monarchs, the main antagonists whom Jinwoo is destined to fight.

Is the Solo Leveling manhwa worth reading?

The Solo Leveling manhwa is undoubtedly worth reading if you liked what you saw in the anime. The series is incredibly thrilling and packed with hype, featuring a protagonist who does one cool thing after another.

Its main positive, however, is its art style. Solo Leveling has revolutionized the visuals of an entire generation of manhwa through eye-popping illustrations and a bold color palette. Due to this, despite A-1 Pictures’ faithful adaptation, many believe that the animation does not live up to the manhwa’s art.

Solo Leveling Season 2 adapts till chapter 110 of the manhwa, but fans should start reading it from chapter 108. The story’s stakes only keep getting greater from this point as the Monarchs are introduced and the secrets surrounding Jinwoo’s powers begin unravelling.
