With the release of the latest One Piece spoilers earlier this week, fans got an exciting preview of what to expect from the manga’s upcoming chapter 1147. While not officially confirmed, the series’ spoiler community has historically proven accurate and reliable in its claims. Likewise, the latest spoilers excitingly see Nico Robin head into battle against the Holy Knights.

More specifically, she does so alongside Scopper Gaban, a former Roger Pirate and one of the strongest members of Gol D. Roger’s legendary crew. Likewise, with a Holy Knight having yet to be defeated in the Elbaph Arc, let alone the series overall, fans are suspecting Robin to be the first character to do so.

While she is technically teaming up with Gaban, the two’s presumed eventual victory over at least one of the Holy Knights will still mark One Piece’s first. Although the exact method of victory hasn’t been teased, fans theorize that Gaban’s role in the arc is to show the Straw Hats this path. Likewise, many expect Gaban to show Robin the way to win and her to actually do so.

Further supporting this is significant narrative evidence that supports the idea that Robin should be the first to beat a Holy Knight. While this is still speculative, mangaka Eiichiro Oda often uses such tactics to forecast where his story is headed next. With all of this in mind, it seems Robin is first in line to achieve this incredibly significant combative feat.

Ohara’s legacy is a major reason why Robin may be the first to defeat a Holy Knight in One Piece

Arguably the single biggest piece of evidence for Robin achieving this feat is Elbaph being the home of Ohara’s legacy. Within the libraries that the Holy Knights demand be demolished are the last remnants of the Oharan research on the Void Century. Ohara’s legacy and their Void Century research also serve as the foundation of Robin’s character as the last Oharan alive.

Jaguar D. Saul also played a key role both in shaping Robin’s life after the Oharan genocide and in preserving her people’s legacy in Elbaph. Coincidentally, Robin springs into battle in One Piece chapter 1147 at the request of Saul, who wants to save Elbaph’s children. The fact that someone so foundational to her character is asking this of her further supports this idea.

Robin’s independent training and adventures during the series’ two-year timeskip also further support this idea. She spent this time with Monkey D. Dragon’s Revolutionary Army, who are directly opposed to the World Government and its ideals. Coincidentally, or rather not so, Dragon is also the first character to mention the Holy Knights in One Piece.

All of this combines to form a strong but still speculative argument as to why Robin will likely be the first character to defeat a Holy Knight. Evidence can be found in her foundational character development, her relationships with significant Elbaph Arc characters, and her own independent choices and actions in the timeskip.

Final thoughts

While this evidence supports Robin being the first to defeat a Holy Knight in One Piece, Gaban will still likely play a major role. More specifically, he’s likely to show Robin how to circumvent the Holy Knights’ apparent immortality, which may involve Haki of some kind. Regardless of how he helps her achieve victory, it’s almost certain that the win will rightfully be hers in the end.
