Jujutsu Kaisen has very minimal romance, but this does not stop fans from “shipping” characters who may go on to have relationships. The protagonist, Yuji Itadori, is not excluded from this and has many potential pairings due to the close bond he shares with the cast.

However, now that the manga is over, fans may wonder if there was anything more concrete on the romantic front for the protagonist. No, Yuji Itadori does not have a proper love interest in Jujutsu Kaisen, but Gege did hint at who he would end up with in the long run.

This is a tricky area to navigate since Itadori never expressed any interest in romance throughout the series. Still, the writer’s intent suggested that he would eventually be paired with a girl with intense feelings of attraction towards him.

While most fans were initially expecting this to be Nobara, one of Itadori’s closest companions, Gege established that their relationship was only as friends and nothing more. Rather, Yuko Ozawa, Itadori’s friend from High School, is the likely love interest for Itadori.

The pair only shared the screen on a few occasions, but there was an air of romance in every scene. During the Death Painting Arc, Ozawa made her introduction and spoke to Nobara and Megumi about her crush on Itadori. Her feelings for him stemmed from their time in school when Itadori did not look down on her for being fat.

When questioned by his friend on who he liked from their class, Itadori chose Ozawa due to her elegant manner of eating and writing. His capability to look past looks and see the hidden qualities in her made Ozawa fall for him.

When Itadori was invited to meet his friend, Nobara was initially nervous since Ozawa had gained height, lost weight, and looked completely different. However, Itadori instantly recognized her, confirming Ozawa’s belief that he truly saw beyond appearances. While she was elated to see him, Ozawa ended up not confessing to her crush.

She made this decision after realizing that her courage came solely from her new look. Since it would be disingenuous to both herself and Itadori, Ozawa parted ways with the main characters, quietly holding her feelings of attraction in her heart. She did not return to the series until the epilogue, where she shared a heartfelt conversation with her love interest.

Do Itadori and Ozawa End Up Together in Jujutsu Kaisen?

Itadori and Ozawa do not end up together in Jujutsu Kaisen, but Gege makes it clear that there is some spark between them. In the epilogue chapter of the series, fans discovered the final fates of several characters, such as Yuta, Panda, and Nobara, through charming short stories.

Ozawa and Itadori’s conclusion was the first among these, as the pair reunited in their hometown. As soon as they met, Ozawa expressed her worries about Itadori's facial scars and health as he was caught up in the chaos in Tokyo, though she was always aware that he was fine due to her conversations with Nobara.

In response, Itadori asked Ozawa about her well-being and was happy that she was safe in Machida. This flustered Ozawa and rekindled her romantic feelings towards him. At the end of their conversation, Ozawa asked Itadori if he still liked the snow, to which he responded affirmatively. With a smile on her face, she thought of how the snow was special to her as well as to Itadori.

This is the last time both Itadori and Ozawa are featured in Jujutsu Kaisen. Hence, there is never a proper conclusion to the pair’s romance. However, given Ozawa’s love towards Itadori and the protagonist’s genuine care for his high school friend, if he were to eventually have a romantic interest, it would undoubtedly be Ozawa.

Yuji Itadori does not have a proper love interest in Jujutsu Kaisen and never shows any interest in romance. However, he has expressed that he likes Yuko Ozawa. Ozawa, in turn, also loves him. There is no proper conclusion to their romance, but based on the hints shown by Gege and shonen tropes, it is evident that the protagonist would end up with her.
