A person's authority, influence, and even identity in the Black Clover world are often based solely on their magical prowess. It establishes the power to lead and/or destroy, or protect, like a structure in theory. Centralizing this magical society is a Wizard King, a person revered or feared, who holds the highest ideal that any mage should strive for. Those who are elevated to this position are not only the strongest in magical ability but are also meant to guide the Clover Kingdom through peace and war alike.

Julius Novachrono is regarded as one of the best Wizard Kings the kingdom has ever seen, thanks to his unmatched mastery over time magic, bewitched by his progressive outlook towards society. It's his unique ability to manipulate time, which truly makes him different from anyone else in Black Clover. With the help of Chrono Stasis and Time Reversal spells, Julius can freeze, speed up, or reverse time in localized areas, which makes him nearly untouchable in battle. He is very well known for being playful and inquisitive, finding that duty is often a leisure-time activity of attaching himself to weird forms of magic across class lines.

The resurrection and diminished powers of Julius rendered him relegated from action on the frontline to a very passive advice-giver. As the plot advanced, the mysterious actions of his became more apparent in strong revelations.

Ultimately, it's revealed that Julius has been acting as a surrogate host for Lucius Zogratis, a mighty devil, host, and organizer of many of the events that threaten the very existence of the Clover Kingdom. This turn of events reconsiders Julius' past and introduces philosophical battling between Lucius' anticipative peace and Asta's earned freedom. The struggle of identity with Julius stands for the greater conflict between fate and choice.

The anime adaptation of Black Clover ends before this revelation, at Episode 170, which covers the events in the Heart Kingdom Joint Struggle arc. Last seen with ominous developments still to unfold, yet fully, Julius is glimpsed introducing the Sword of the Wizard King movie, but remains non-canonical. Future projects in anime will be keenly awaited so that these arcs might get a fitting conclusion.

In the post-epilogue of the Black Clover manga, it opens with the healing process for the Clover Kingdom from this conflict. Julius may not return as he was once known, but the utmost foundational values that he carried- meritocracy, inclusion, and curiosity- remain in the rebuilding of the kingdom. His arc closes not with him in it, but with the world he helped change.

In the manga’s final arcs, the Zogratis Brothers, including Lucius, the main devil antagonist, are after revenge upon all those who have opposed him. And this body—a shocker twist—seemed to harbor their brother, Julius, whose unprecedented actions took a massive amount of conflict into the narrative. This conflict pertains to Asta and Lucius: the latter's infliction of order versus the former's acceptance of law and order.

Following these events, the Black Clover anime adaptation stops, right before the revelations of Lucius in Episode 170 concerning the Heart Kingdom Joint Struggle arc. The last time Julius appears, visibly young, he is cognizant of greater perils ahead. The Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie delves deeper into his legacy, albeit canonically non-affected or anime-original. His dual persona and the impending clash that goes therewith are thought to be addressed in forthcoming seasons or movies.

In the manga, the world of Black Clover begins to recover after the final battle in the epilogue kind of things. While he no longer appears in his original form, Lucius's influence prevails through the structures and ideals molded by him.
