Again, during his time as the Magic Knight, Yami had to work twice as hard as anyone else to avoid getting backlash and setbacks. Fortunately, he was notably skilled, and Yami rose through the ranks and became the first captain of the Black Bull Squad.

Although, after becoming the captain, Yami Sukehiro was laid-back and barbaric, if any situation called for physical combat, he was an absolute unit by himself. Sometimes, his decisions are unorthodox because when it is time to choose people to join his squad, Yami would select misfits who remind him of his past.

Moreover, Yami’s physical strength aids him in wielding his heavy Katana with ease. During a fight, his reflexes are super fast, and he manages to make split-second decisions by analyzing the situations at lightning speed.

In the world of Black Clover, having a Dark Magic ability is a rare occurrence, and Yami seemingly uses this technique to push through the defenses of his opponents. It is a great source to fight against devils or any other powerful enemies. Being the master of Ki sets him apart from others who solely rely on mana. Ki is a technique mostly used in his hometown and, therefore, gives him an advantage over others.

The deadly trio combination of physical strength, Ki, and mana makes it almost impossible for his opponent to find a blind spot as Yami can come up with a counter-attack. He could be facing magical barriers, spatial magic, and even dimensional space if he directs the attack on someone or something that is next to impossible to dodge.

He also uses Reinforcement Magic, which is great to complement his offensive capabilities. This allows him to move at a faster pace, and it also results in his rate of attacks increasing.

One of the most significant power-ups he has in Black Clover is his Demon God transformation. Yami becomes significantly more powerful, and just his presence in this form is enough to scare most of his opponents. It also grants him faster regenerative abilities.

And his style of helping them grow worked because the Black Bull squad managed to become the second-best squad of Magic Knight rankings in Black Clover.
