Billy Eichner's Bros, the first studio film to feature an entirely LGBTQ+ principal cast, has plucked Amanda Bearse (ex-Amanda Cousins, All My Children) for a role opposite Luke Macfarlane and others.

All My Children alum Amanda Bearse (ex-Amanda Cousins) is jumping back into the acting saddle with a role in Bros, a romantic comedy that is making history by being the first studio film to feature an entirely LGBTQ+ principal cast, playing both queer and heterosexual roles.

Described as smart, swoony, and heartfelt, Bros follows two gay men -- played by Billy Eichner and Luke Macfarlane -- who are "maybe, possibly, probably, stumbling towards love... Maybe. They're both very busy."

Bearse -- who AMC fans might remember as the best friend/fellow schemer of Liza Colby -- will portray the mother of Macfarlane's character in the comedy that will also star TS Madison, Miss Lawrence, Symone, Guillermo Diaz, and Guy Branum.

"I'm delighted to be a part of this project. I had no idea how deeply the LGBTQ roots were going to be on this project [until recently]. But leave it to Billy Eichner; I should expect nothing less," Bearse tells Deadline. "He's just so on the cutting edge, and this film will be too. I'm glad to be invited to the party."

Bearse's participation in Bros marks the second time the actress has made history in the entertainment world; while starring on Married... with Children in the mid-90s, she became the first actress on primetime television to come out publicly as a lesbian.

Bearse's participation in Bros also marks her return to acting after a 25-year break in which she raised her daughter as a single parent and launched a successful career in directing. She will also be acting in Tapawingo, an upcoming comedy film that features The Bold and the Beautiful alum Kim Matula (ex-Hope Logan).

"I'm just having a good time acting again. It's really been such a very long time, and I didn't realize how much I'd missed it," the actress shares. "So, it's just been a great new beginning, is really the best way to put it."

Some of Bearse's acting credits include Anger Management, Drop Dead Diva, Fright Night, The Doom Generation, and her early 1980s run on AMC. Her directing credits include Married...with Children, The Jamie Foxx Show, Dharma & Greg, Reba, MADtv, and The Big Gay Sketch Show.
