Amazon's coming-of-age comedy series Hot Pink is set to slay soap fans with the addition of All My Children alum Sarah Michelle Gellar (Kendall Hart).

Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar (Kendall Hart, All My Children) has signed on to star in the pilot episode of Hot Pink, a coming-of-age Amazon comedy loosely inspired by the 2017 Elana K. Arnold novel What Girls Are Made Of.

Though details of Gellar's role in the series haven't been released, Arnold's book is described as exploring "the real, knotted, messy, thriving heartbeat of young womanhood" through the eyes of a 16-year-old girl.

The official description of What Girls Are Made Of is, "When Nina Faye was fourteen, her mother told her there was no such thing as unconditional love. Nina believed her. Now Nina is sixteen. And she'll do anything for the boy she loves, just to prove she's worthy of him. But when he breaks up with her, Nina is lost. What is she if not a girlfriend? What is she made of? Broken-hearted, Nina tries to figure out what the conditions of love are. She's been volunteering at a high-kill animal shelter where she realizes that for dogs waiting to be adopted, love comes only to those with youth, symmetry, and quietness. She also ruminates on the strange, dark time her mother took her to Italy to see statues of saints who endured unspeakable torture because of their unquestioning devotion to the divine. Is this what love is?"

Hot Pink was created by Elisabeth Holm, who will serve as executive producer of the project with Desiree Akhavan directing and executive producing the pilot. Rebecca Green will also executive produce along with Sue Naegle and Ali Krug.

Sarah Michelle Gellar starred as All My Children's Kendall Hart from 1993 to 1995 and returned for a brief appearance in 2011. She won a Daytime Emmy award in the Outstanding Younger Leading Actress category in 1995 for her work on the ABC soap opera.

After leaving Pine Valley, Gellar went on to find primetime fame in series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ringer, and The Crazy Ones, the latter of which she starred in opposite Robin Williams. She is also known for several films such as Cruel Intentions, Scooby-Doo, The Grudge, and I Know What You Did Last Summer. However, did you know she got her start in a 1980s Burger King commercial? As Soap Central previously reported, Gellar is also currently attached to the Fox series Other People's Houses and the Ellen DeGeneres-produced Sometimes I Lie.
