AMC's Mark Consuelos lands major Night Shift role

All My Children alum Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos) will play a major part in season four of The Night Shift.

Former All My Children star Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos) has checked into The Night Shift for quite an outstanding role.

The NBC medical drama has cast the real-life husband of AMC alum Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley Santos) as Cain, a highly confident and aggressive travel nurse who emigrated to the U.S. from Mexico, TV Line reports. The role is said to play a major part in the gradual unfolding of season four.

However, fans of the actor's new series Pitch shouldn't worry about Consuelos' new role.

"An insider maintains that Pitch fans should not view Consuelos' casting as a bad omen for Fox's in-limbo sports sudser," the outlet states. "The Night Shift is expected to finish production on its fourth season before any potential second season of Pitch would even start filming."

Since leaving AMC in 2010, Consuelos has gone on to star in a variety of television projects including American Horror Story, Alpha House, Kingdom, and Queen of the South.
