David was born in Chicago, and raised in Seattle and Los Angeles. He studied with renowned acting coach Diane Hardin.
The real-life brother of Heather Tom, David Tom made his daytime debut on The Young and the Restless in 1999. The following year, he earned a Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Younger Actor category. David left Y&R in 2002, but returned to daytime as One Life to Live's Paul Cramer in 2005. During his OLTL run -- and a crossover to All My Children, the two Toms had a chance to play on-screen siblings.
