Will Ravi Shapur be returning to The Young and the Restless? Abhi Sinha opens up about his character's future.

When Abhi Sinha debuted as The Young and the Restless' Ravi Shapur in January of last year, he won the hearts of viewers and quickly became a fan favorite on the CBS soap opera. His storyline went from him simply being an app developer to being a love interest for leading lady Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). But almost as quickly as he came onto the scene, he has left it. And fans have been wondering just where the heck Ravi went.

In response to the flood of messages on social media, Sinha shared that he's not sure when -- or even if -- Ravi will be returning to the canvas.

"I want to thank every one of my fans who for months have been asking about Ravi's return to Y&R," he says on Instagram. "Honestly, I don't know the answer... I was privileged to work with some amazing soap vets like Eileen Davidson (Ashley), Kristoff St. John (Neil), Peter Bergman (Jack), Gina Tognoni (Phyllis), Daniel Hall (ex-Scott), Ryan Ashton (ex-Zack), Christian LeBlanc (Michael), Kate Linder (Esther), and the legendary Eric Braeden (Victor). I've been fortunate to make some lifelong friendships."

The end of Ravi's brief romance with Ashley left the character without a storyline, and rather than create something new for Ravi, the writers had the character kind of just... disappear.

"While I have been fortunate enough to not be killed or written off," Sinha says, "the future is uncertain."

The actor admits that in the past, this type of career experience would get him down. But he has since learned not to take business decisions personally.

"Things like this used to derail me," Sinha confessed. "I would get so upset about not booking work, especially after getting to the last stages of auditions, producer sessions, and screen tests. I didn't realize how trivial those problems are in the grand scheme of things. The recent loss of my [dogs] Boba Fett and Bellatrix in such a short time has put a lot of things into perspective."

He continues: "I love acting and I wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world, but I realize now that I won't let rejection or second-guessing myself define or upset me anymore. Those things don't control my happiness or who I am. The things that do are my family. My mother and father, my brother and sister, my dogs, Max and Rooney, my friends, and last but certainly not least, Helen, who has been a rock and true partner in every sense of the word. I've recently found a lot of happiness in nature. The Earth is so much bigger than one person's problems. I suppose this epiphany is called life, learning, and growth."

As Sinha is on recurring status at Y&R, one never knows what the future holds. In the meantime, fans can keep an eye out for the actor's future projects, of which there are likely to be many. After all, he's got quite the résumé that includes roles in shows like Designated Survivor, Rosewood, Scorpion, NCIS, and Chasing Life.
