The end of an era at The Young and the Restless has happened, with Eileen Davidson formally wrapping her time as Ashley Abbott.

The "saddest countdown" ever has come to an end, with The Young and the Restless' Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) having officially wrapped at the CBS soap opera.

The actress' costar Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) took to social media to share a goodbye video that shows Davidson getting her last touch-up in the show's makeup room on Friday.

"Love this one! Really going to miss my sis," he captioned the clip.

Davidson took to social media earlier the same week with a gloomy video that served as what she called the "saddest countdown" ever to her last airdate on the CBS soap opera.

"Wow. So here's the countdown. I'm leaving this place in four days," she said in the video, which you can view here. "First time I walked in here, I was not even 23 years old. How crazy is that? Ok, four more days. Love this place. Changed my life, in every single way."

Davidson has been playing the role of Ashley on-again, off-again since June of 1982 and took home the Outstanding Lead Actress trophy at the Daytime Emmys this year for her work as the character. She previously played five characters on Days of our Lives (Kristen DiMera, Susan Banks, Thomas Banks, Penelope Banks, and Mary Moira) and won a Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Leading Actress category for her work at the NBC soap in 2014.
