Former daytime star Kelly Sullivan (ex-Sage Warner, The Young and the Restless; ex-Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri, General Hospital) opens up about her new role on Tyler Perry's upcoming drama Too Close To Home.

Get ready to see Kelly Sullivan (ex-Sage Warner, The Young and the Restless; ex-Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri, General Hospital) as you've never seen her before.

The former daytime actress has shed her soap opera past and is now the star of the Tyler Perry series Too Close To Home, which debuts tonight on TLC. And her role as Bonnie, a diner waitress/mother of four who lives in a rundown trailer park in Happy, Alabama, seems like it will dish out more drama than her GH and Y&R roles combined. Just take for example that Bonnie's youngest sister, Shelby (Brooke Anne Smith), is a hopeless drug addict, and her middle sister, Anna (Danielle Savre), is at the center of a sex scandal that drives her out of the city and back home to Happy.

“Tyler is bringing light to a part of the country we don't get to see on television,” Sullivan tells TV Insider of the series. “Bonnie and her family represent the forgotten ones, people who have been dealt a really rough hand in life, people who don't have a voice. And that is a big part of America.”

But of course, this being a Tyler Perry show and all, things get all the more complicated with outrageous secrets and jaw-dropping cliffhangers. “This is a story about what happens when the s--t hits the fan -- and who bounces back and who can't handle it. It's real and it's raw,” the actress teases. “Everybody in Happy has their skeletons -- and when they are revealed, it is spine-tingling.”

Check out a preview of Too Close To Home below, and be sure to tune in to TLC tonight at 9/8C to catch the two-hour world premiere of the network's first ever scripted series.

UPDATE:
If you missed the August 22 premiere, Too Close To Home will be rebroadcast on August 23 and 24 on the OWN network (10pm and 1am, respectively). It will also re-air August 27, 28, and 29 on TLC (9pm, 10am, and 6:59pm, respectively). Additional showings may be added, so check your local listings for times and channels in your area.

How much are you looking forward to watching Sullivan in Too Close To Home? Are you intrigued by the premise of the show? We want to hear from you -- and there are many ways you can share your thoughts.
