The Young and the Restless is rumored to be considering a recast for the role of Tucker McCall. The role had previously been played by Emmy-nominated actor Stephen Nichols.
Tucker McCall may soon be headed back to Genoa City, but it might not be what most fans of The Young and the Restless are expecting. A recently published report hints that a recast may very well be in the works.
Citing insider chatter, Soap Opera Uncensored reports that Y&R execs are "working on finding someone to play him since Nichols will not be returning."
There may be a reason for Nichols not returning to The Young and the Restless -- he could already have another job. A General Hospital insider tells Soap Central that the ABC soap is interested in Nichols reprising his role as Stefan Cassadine, a role he played from 1996 through 2003.
Nichols joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in January 2010. Nichols' final scenes as a series regular aired in January 2013, but the actor returned to Y&R as part of the show's recent tribute to the late Jeanne Cooper.
Nichols is also well known for his work as Steven "Patch" Johnson on Days of our Lives.
Soap Opera Digest, meanwhile, cites an insider as saying that the show has decided to put the brakes on a recast at this time because it "would be too distracting" to the story.
