Peter Porte cut from Y&R

The Young and the Restless has cut newcomer Peter Porte from its roster. The actor, who began playing Ricky Williams last year, is slated to exit Y&R this summer.

Ricky Williams' Genoa City homecoming will be short-lived. Though the character returned to Genoa City just under a year ago, actor Peter Porte has been cut from The Young and the Restless, Soap Central has learned.

News of Porte's exit was first announced earlier this week by Soap Opera Uncensored's Nelson Branco. A show spokesperson would not comment on the report, noting that the network's policy forbids the discussion of actors' contracts.

Porte assumed the role of Ricky Williams on September 13, 2011. The Y&R role was Porte's first daytime role, but the actor had made several primetime appearances. He has appeared on Cold Case, CSI: Miami, and Medium.

There are whispers that Porte's on-screen alter ego won't simply fade away, and that fans can expect Ricky to make a dramatic exit from the canvas.
