Born in New York City, Elizabeth Hendrickson's family moved to Northport, Long Island. Hendrickson showed an interest in performing at an early age. By age 5, she was tap-dancing on tabletops. She would later audition for a spot on the Mickey Mouse Club.
Hendrickson studied musical theatre at Syracuse University for two years before the call of the city beckoned the young actress back to New York City. She transferred to Fordham University in her sophomore year.
Prior to landing the role of Frankie on All My Children, Hendrickson had auditioned for the roles of Bianca Montgomery, Rain Wilkins and Pine Valley High cheerleader Mindy. She also tried out for Guiding Light's Michelle Bauer, a role that went to Hendrickson's AMC co-star Rebecca Budig.
