What happened during the week of
Steffy told Ridge that Liam had signed the annulment papers, and Liam had torn them up. Liam also told Bill the same thing, but no one told Hope, who started planning a wedding in Italy. Bill insisted that Liam needed to reevaluate his plans for marriage. Steffy told Ridge that she was certain she would end up with Liam. Brooke wanted Ridge to design a wedding gown for Hope, but he refused because it would hurt Steffy. Ridge added that he didn't think Liam would end up with Hope. At Forrester, Steffy told Stephanie that she had signed the annulment papers and Liam had torn them up. Brooke overheard that Liam had signed the papers but missed the rest of the conversation. Brooke excitedly approached Stephanie and said that she couldn't wait to share the news with Hope. Stephanie warned against it. Stephanie snarked that Liam had torn up the papers. Brooke couldn't believe it. Stephanie added that Liam might not marry Hope after all, because it was clear that Hope was unstable. Stephanie added that Hope's instability was understandable because she was a product of Deacon and Brooke.

What happened during the week of
Roman and Shane were relieved to learn that everyone in the safe house had survived. They decided to keep the good news a secret as way to get the upper hand on Stefano. E.J. told Stefano that he had defended Stefano to the authorities even though he knew that Stefano had probably caused the explosion. E.J., the mayor, held a press conference and promised the people of Salem that he would seek justice and punish the person responsible for the murders of the six people who had perished. Friends and family mourned the loss of Marlena, John, Bo, Hope, Carrie, and Rafe. Lucas tried to comfort Sami in her time of loss, grief, and guilt. She told him that she would make an effort in the future to live her life differently and make her mother proud of her. Ian planned a special date night for Kate. Stefano continued to deny responsibility for the explosion or murders of those that had died. At the safe house, Carrie and Rafe decided that they wanted to be together, but Carrie was torn about ending her marriage with Austin. Roman gathered certain family members together to reveal that their loved ones were alive, but in hiding in order to keep the truth from Stefano. Sami was furious and told Roman and the ISA that it was cruel to let them think that their loved ones had died in the explosion when they were all very much alive. Will confronted E.J. and Sami about the nature of their relationship. Sami learned the truth about the reason that Will had agreed to work for E.J. Will told Sami that he did not intend to quit his job, and was not interested in her advice. Bo, Hope, and Shane met with Billie and devised a plan to use E.J. as a way to take down Stefano. Billie told E.J. that Stefano betrayed him and that his father was responsible for exonerating John. Lexie asked Abe to help her put together a family photo album as a keepsake for the family after she was gone.

What happened during the week of
Ronnie kidnapped Sam and Lulu. John McBain killed Ronnie, after Sam pretended to faint while Ronnie held a gun to her. Jason warned John to stay away from Sam. Alexis learned that Sam had moved out of the penthouse and into the Rendezvous Motel. Jason and Elizabeth marked Jake's fifth birthday by visiting their son's grave. Spinelli found footage of Lisa's murder when he checked the security cameras at the Haunted Star. Spinelli was careful to turn over a grainy copy, which showed a dark-haired man killing Lisa. Mac and Felicia were eager to use the tape to get Maxie released from jail. Heather poisoned Maggie, and then sent the Memphis police a letter from Maggie confessing to the murder. Heather's plans nearly fell apart when Maggie was found clinging to life in Maggie's apartment; however, Maggie succumbed to the overdose at the hospital. Kate was arrested for attacking Ewen. Kate told Sonny about her dissociative identity disorder, but Sonny didn't believe her. Jason warned Sonny that Kate was seriously ill and needed help. Sonny asked Alexis to represent Kate. Todd overheard Kate confide to Alexis that Connie might have shot out Anthony's tires. Starr was charged with attempted murder when Michael gave the police a statement about Starr threatening to kill Sonny. Téa Delgado arrived in town to represent Starr legally. Johnny vowed to win Carly back because he was in love with her.

What happened during the week of
Sharon and Victor shared a romantic moment and a kiss, until Nikki walked in and was shocked to see the connection between them. Later, Nikki blasted Sharon for trying to take her place as Mrs. Victor Newman. Nick rushed Phyllis to the hospital when she was spotting, but they were relieved to learn the baby was fine. Jack and Nikki agreed to stop their relationship because of Kyle. Ashley went home and discovered a drunken Tucker in bed with Harmony. Daisy was suspicious when Daniel said he wanted to marry her, but when he showed her the ring, she was convinced. Phyllis called Danny to help her stop Daniel from marrying Daisy. Daniel and Daisy went to a justice of the peace and were hastily married. Phyllis confronted Daisy to tell her that Daniel had only married her for Lucy's sake. At Jimmy's, Daisy saw her new husband making out with Eden. Jill and Genevieve argued about their mothering skills and had a mud fight in the park. Walsh agreed to a plea arrangement, so Lauren avoided jail time. Kay learned of Harmony's one-night stand with Tucker and asked her to move out of the mansion. After a rigorous physical therapy session, Jack felt movement in his foot. Eden was frightened by Ricky's hatred of Phyllis and told him to move out of her apartment. Paul learned from Avery that Ricky's ex-girlfriend had committed suicide. Ricky researched Danny's marriage to Phyllis. Chelsea turned down Victor's offer of ten million dollars to leave town. Genevieve heard from Colin, whom she helped get out of prison. Ashley refused to speak with a guilt-ridden Tucker. Sharon and Victor decided to fly to Chicago for a romantic dinner.

Liza believed that she was suffering a relapse, but kept her condition a secret from everyone but Mia. Brooke told Edmund that she wanted to postpone their wedding because of Dixie's death. Simone became unnerved when she learned that Greenlee's mother would soon be arriving in town.

Katie was trapped in a plunging elevator, but escaped unharmed. James revealed that a bound and gagged Emily was "insurance" in case he got into trouble. Barbara stabbed James, but he managed to escape. Jack held Dr. Weston at gunpoint and ordered him to fix Carly's face. Rose declined to have her face fixed. Adam was accepted into film school. Aaron questioned why Lucy treated him poorly. Kim researched Donna and Marley in an attempt to find dirt that could be used against them.

Keeping the memory alive: A look at what happened this week in 2002
Tony and Marah went on the run together, but Romeo located their whereabouts, kidnapped Marah, and shot Tony after Marah got him to admit that he had murdered Catalina. Blake got the real goods on Tory's past as a very disturbed homicidal killer. Blake finally confided in Ross about her ordeal, but he was doubtful after Tory was nowhere to be found back at the cell under the docks. Marina was at the height of her game when she set up Gus to make it look like he had tried to rape her, a minor. Harley sided with Gus, and against her family, after the facts didn't seem to add up after questioning Marina, and Frank was out to destroy Gus by investigating his past, a seemingly "shady" childhood. Cassie almost caught Richard at his "new job." Phillip and Beth tried to cheer up Rick. Mel convinced Rick they should get married immediately. Edmund located Ed for Danny and informed him that he had been held prisoner for years in Africa, but could be released for the right price. Danny refused Carmen's offer to pay the ransom for fear of her demands in return, and turned instead to Olivia for help.

Nora was shaken after her visit with Lindsay. Max learned that if he divorced Roxy, he might pay her $500,000 a year, even though he had been drunk when they tied the knot. Cristian put Jen's insecurities about Natalie at ease. Antonio surprised Keri with a romantic evening in a hot tub. Rex encountered Jess when he arrived in Llanview. Natalie was shocked and thrilled when she saw Rex, and they took time to catch up. Rex then accepted Jess's offer to move into the mansion. Blair told Todd that he would have visitation with Starr, but not Jack. Later, an angry Blair trashed all of Todd's belongings. She went out to a bar, and things got heated between her and Chad.

Friends and family tried to get the truth out of Theresa, but she stood firm in her resolve. Pilar burst into the courtroom and made a scene at Theresa's bail hearing. Theresa was stunned when her mother slapped her, and ordered her to admit she hadn't killed Julian. Alistair agreed to pay Theresa's ten million dollar bail. Kay vowed to stop Zombie Charity from killing Miguel. Zombie Charity and Miguel began to make love. Zombie Charity had a truth-revealing reaction to the berries Miguel put in the tub. The zombie struggled to keep Miguel from seeing her in demon form. Brian and Sheridan made love.
