What happened during the week of
Hope took too much antianxiety medication at a pool party with Thomas, Caroline, Rick, and Liam. Hope danced on the diving board and embarrassed Liam. When Thomas, Caroline, Rick, and Liam were watching a video, Hope passed out, fell into the pool, and nearly drowned. Liam saved her, and she inappropriately laughed it off. Everyone wanted Hope to go the hospital, but she refused. Hope's behavior frustrated Liam. Hope finally came clean to Liam that she had seen a psychiatrist and taken prescription antianxiety medication. Liam was supportive. Hope begged Liam to ask Steffy for an annulment again. He didn't think it was a good idea, but he agreed. Hope admitted to Amber that the medication had made her behave erratically. Hope visited Dr. Barton, who told Hope that she had never filled a prescription for the medication. Dr. Barton warned Hope to throw the pills away because she didn't know what they were or where they were from. Dayzee caught Amber buying prescription medication on a website, and warned her that it was extremely dangerous. Amber scoffed at Dayzee's advice. Taylor warned Steffy not to wait too long for Liam. Taylor lamented that she had waited most of her life for Ridge, and she had been disappointed. Steffy said she had faith in her marriage and was convinced that Liam would return to her.

What happened during the week of
Kate and Ian made love, and in the aftermath, Kate told Ian that she had made a terrible mistake. She feared Stefano's wrath if he found out about their affair, unaware that he already knew of her betrayal. Will admitted to Sonny that he was gay and asked his friend for advice on how to come out to his parents, family, and friends. E.J. continued to pressure Nicole to give him another chance and to let him back into her life. Meanwhile, Carrie and Austin met with Rafe to dissolve his and Carrie's business relationship, and agreed that they should all try remaining friends. Rafe tried to explain to Carrie that he had never slept with Nicole and that her child was not his, but Sami and Lucas interrupted him, and Carrie continued to think the worst of Rafe. Gabi thought that Chad's romantic plan was meant for her, but became humiliated and angry when she realized he had planned the special occasion for Melanie. Melanie and Chad made love and confessed their love for each other. Stefano vowed revenge on Kate and Ian after he learned that they were together. E.J. was shocked to find confidential files that proved that his father didn't trust him to run the family business. To make matters worse, Nicole told E.J. that Stefano had tampered with the original election results to declare Abe the winner. E.J. shared memories and a kiss with Nicole and Sami. Nicole and E.J. grew closer as did Sami and Lucas. John and Hope found a coded gold coin inside the Anastasia egg that Stefano desperately wanted. Later, as a means to escape from Alamainia, John and Hope substituted the coin, handed it off to Stefano, and left for the airport. Thanks to help of an ISA agent, John and Hope managed to elude Stefano and headed back to Salem. John reunited with Marlena, and then told her that he had rejoined the ISA. Hope arrived at Bo's beside just in time for him to hear her voice and start to regain consciousness. E.J. caught Billie in the act of spying.

What happened during the week of
Ewen was relieved when Elizabeth assured him that she didn't blame him for Kate's antics during Ewen and Elizabeth's date. Ewen urged Kate to check into a sanitarium for inpatient treatment. Kate feared that it would ruin her career if people found out that she had dissociative identity disorder. Kate was unsettled when she discovered a note from Connie. Kate realized that her headaches were a warning sign that Connie was emerging, so she was confident that she could keep Connie at bay. Spinelli discovered that Ewen had papers drawn up to commit Kate to a mental institution against her will, so he shared the information with Jason. Kate took the witness stand at Sonny's trial, and introduced herself as Connie Falconeri. Olivia turned to Ewen for help with Heather. Olivia feared that Heather had fooled Steve and the doctors at Ferncliff. Olivia and Ewen persuaded Steve that it would be wise to get a second opinion regarding Heather's mental state. Luke didn't trust Heather's claims that she was sane. Heather took an instant disliking to Anna. Tracy was delighted when Luke remembered her birthday by presenting her with a special gift. Michael was not happy to learn about Carly and Johnny's relationship. Carly and Johnny testified against Sonny at the trial. John McBain obtained a sample of Franco's DNA from the FBI, and then gave it to Sam. Sam decided to have a second paternity test, in the hopes of assuring Jason that Jason was the father of her baby when she told him about Franco. Kelly agreed to put a rush on the paternity test, so that Sam would have the results within twenty-four hours. Heather discovered that Sam was having a paternity test. Heather suggested that Jason should know about the test, but Sam threatened to tell Steve that Heather had sold Susan's baby, if Heather talked to Jason.

Genevieve overheard Jack tell Nikki that he planned to marry Genevieve only long enough to acquire Beauty of Nature. Genevieve was crushed, but when she confronted Jack, he convinced her that he'd been lying to Nikki. Genevieve agreed marry Jack in Las Vegas. Adam saved Chelsea from the frozen lake and delivered her baby. Victoria and Abby found Chelsea while Adam went to call an ambulance. Once Chelsea was hospitalized, she agreed to give Billy and Victoria the baby as planned. Adam asked Chelsea to keep his efforts to help her secret. Sharon and Ashley were both suspicious of Adam's friendship with Chelsea. Billy was pleased when Victoria named the baby John. Nikki overheard Victor trying to bribe Chelsea to leave town and admitting that he had only hired Chelsea to take incriminating photos with Billy to ruin his marriage to Victoria. Nikki left Victor because of his continuous lies and then confronted Jack to stop him from marrying Genevieve. Victor surprised Genevieve by turning up in her hotel room. Devon was able to hear again when his implants were activated. Cane reached out to Genevieve. Kevin convinced Chloe and Delia to move into his house. Abby got to know Carmine. Sofia was unhappy with Neil when she saw him bonding with Harmony.

Keeping the memory alive: A look at what happened this week in 2000
After Stuart was knocked unconscious by Arlene's car, Esther found him and took him to her trailer. Stuart had amnesia, and Esther hid the pictures of Marian that were in his pocket. Liza went to Oak Haven to try to get Adam released to help search for Stuart, but the doctor said that Adam wasn't going anywhere. Arlene hit a telephone pole and destroyed a portion of the wall at the shelter. Leo stumbled upon Vanessa and Paolo in bed together. Paolo told Vanessa about Erica's scheme to make David jealous. Vanessa told Erica a dirty lie, about hiring Paolo for sex. Erica then fired Paolo, who became extremely upset. He drugged Erica, embarrassing her at the Teens Against Addiction dinner. He then stole the tape Erica had secretly recorded of him conning her. Erica was furious when she found out. Paolo told Vanessa he had never loved her, and in return, she drugged his drink. David found out Paolo was harassing Erica, and stormed upstairs to see him. Vanessa dragged Derek Frye up to Paolo's room, where they found Leo standing over Paolo's dead body.

Kim flew to Washington after learning Andy's helicopter had been shot down in Chechnya and he was feared dead. Jack and Julia agreed to try being a couple again. Simon saw a photo of "Aunt Vera" wearing his long-sought diamond necklace and later confessed to Lily that their meeting had been no accident -- he had planted the letters. Emily tried to buy the Intruder but couldn't raise the cash from either Susan or Tom. Molly awakened from her coma.

Drew kept a vigil at Jesse's bedside as he fought for his life. Michelle and Drew reconciled. Harley agreed to keep Rick and Claire's secret. Edmund carried out his plan to expose Cassie's past at a very important San Cristobel press conference. Josh told Olivia not to interfere in his personal life. Reva asked Josh for a legal separation even though she didn't really mean it. Susan confided in Uncle Frank about her feelings for Max. Noah discovered that Phillip was carrying a contagious virus and needed to leave town, and Lizzie, for treatment. Phillip was inconsolable with the turn of events, and Beth was disturbed about the news and what it meant for her -- and Phillip's -- baby. Claire accidentally bumped into Michelle at the airport and decided to remain in Springfield. The D.A. reluctantly gave Danny, Michelle, and Ross 48 hours to produce Ruth Lockhart. Carmen found a way out of another police interrogation, no thanks to Edmund, who she took care of "Santos style." Reva and Noah got to know each other, and their subsequent car accident unknowingly involved the key to Michelle's freedom.

Lindsay denied taking Matthew to punish Nora. Blair took home boy-toy Tim to make Max jealous. Will was sentenced to seven years in prison because Asa had bribed the judge. Sam was thrown in jail for contempt. Ben and Viki couldn't bring themselves to reveal their secrets to each other. Max interrupted Jessica and Cris from searching for clues at Asa's. Lindsay asked Ben for help to get Will out of the country, but Will refused to run. Skye tried to get Ben and Viki back together. Blair used Cris to make Max jealous. Melanie was surprised when she saw Lindsay's picture in the paper. Cris convinced Renee to tell him where Asa was hiding. Cris and Jessica went see Asa in Baltimore.
