Nicole manipulated the campaign schedule that left Abe with egg on his face and E.J. a shining star. Abe agreed to let Jennifer play dirty if it meant that he could win the election. Daniel decided to be the better man and broke things off with Jennifer. Jack was overjoyed at the news that Jennifer and Daniel were no longer a couple, but Jennifer cautioned Jack not to get too excited because she was not ready to get back with him, and that she still loved Daniel. Melanie and Chad struggled with their feelings for each other for Abigail's sake. Meanwhile, Abigail's feelings for Austin grew stronger, but she decided not to end her relationship with Chad. Melanie felt conflicted about her loyalty to Abigail and uncertain about pursuing a chance at happiness with Chad, whose feelings for her were mutual. Madison gave in to Brady's love and caring ways. Brady treated Madison to a much-deserved day off as well as the experience of feeling the true meaning of Christmas. Kayla returned to Salem with her son Joe to help at the Brady Pub during the holiday season. Kayla's first customers were the lovesick trio of Daniel, Austin, and Jack. Sami told Rafe that St. Luke's was booked for Christmas Eve services, so they would not be able to renew their wedding vows. Rafe suggested that they move the ceremony to Horton Square and renew their vows at Tom and Alice Horton's memorial because they were two people who had shared a happy, loving, and lasting marriage. Rafe assured Carrie that there was proof that someone had tampered with the photo of John at the café and could help clear him. Later, Bo and Hope decided to also use Stefano's IOU to Alice as a way to force him to drop the charges against John. John refused E.J. and Stefano's offer to turn over Basic Black to them. After the frightening experience of being held at gunpoint, the young women of Salem signed up for self-defense classes at Quinn's spa.
In Bensonhurst, Sonny asked Kate to spend Christmas with him. Michael was heartbroken when he learned that Abby had been killed in a construction site accident. Sam was on hand to comfort Michael, but Michael blamed himself for Abby's tragic death, because he had sent her to Chicago, thinking that she would be safe. Sam admitted to Michael that Franco had raped her. Jason watched Franco's DVD, in which Franco taunted, "We're going to be a daddy." Robin asked Jason to help her disappear, because her life-saving cocktail of medications was no longer working. Robin wanted to spare her family from having to watch her die a slow and lingering death, like the one that Stone had endured. Jason felt terrible for Robin, but he refused to help her. Jason insisted that Robin tell Patrick what was going on. Mac decided to close the case on Lisa's murder when Officer Briggs texted a full confession, and then committed suicide. Maxie was horrified when Anthony revealed that Officer Briggs's confession and suicide were a result of the favor that Maxie had asked for. Delores questioned Mac and Dante's eagerness to close the case on Lisa's murder. Lulu told Dante that she wasn't ready to give up on their relationship. Dante was delighted when Lulu had a change of heart about marrying him. Lucky questioned Elizabeth's reasons for checking into Shadybrook. Elizabeth explained that she needed professional help to accept that her relationship with Lucky was over. Elizabeth met someone new at the sanitarium, but she confided to Matt that there had been something vaguely familiar about the man.

Roxy tried to enlist David's help to save her favorite soap opera, Fraternity Row. Starr and Todd discussed Todd's feelings for Blair. "If you love someone, don't play games, just say it," Starr advised her father. Todd explained that he didn't want to blow it, after everything that he had done to get Blair back. Starr immediately grew suspicious, but Todd managed to explain the remark away. Blair and Dani were hurt that Tomas had duped them, but they agreed that it had been a relief to know who had killed Victor. Calmar confessed to John that he had lied about Tomas. Calmar then revealed everything that he knew about Victor's murder. Téa was happy to have proof that Todd had killed Victor, but John warned Téa that Calmar's statement wasn't sufficient evidence, so they needed to proceed with caution. Téa became agitated, and then clutched her stomach as she doubled over with pain. John rushed Téa to the hospital. Téa was relieved when a sonogram confirmed that the baby was okay. John and Natalie continued to skirt around their feelings, while John spent time with Liam. Shaun encouraged Destiny to find out how Matthew felt about the pregnancy, and what Matthew's intentions were. Matthew sought his brother's advice, so David revealed that he had gotten a girl pregnant in high school too. Matthew was curious what had happened to the child, but Destiny arrived before David could answer. Matthew confessed to Destiny that he wasn't eager to become a father. Destiny was hurt when Matthew reminded her that they hadn't even been dating when she got pregnant.

Neil and Sofia were married, but after the ceremony, Neil disappeared. Cane and Lily sympathized with Genevieve about Samantha and then helped her trim the Christmas tree. John appeared to Jack and gave him advice to help Kyle grieve for Diane during the holidays. Victoria and Billy discussed adoption. Jack blasted Victor for hurting Kyle and Billy. Phyllis had flashbacks about growing up with Avery. Phyllis and Ronan teamed to solve Diane's murder. Sharon and Michael pleaded in vain for Victor to defend himself in court. Kay tried to get Nikki to stop drinking. Gloria accepted financial help from her family. Sofia wanted more from Neil than a marriage license. Nick punched out Deacon in public. Adam used Nick's actions to lobby board members for the upcoming meeting. Devon turned down Tucker as a client, but said he'd accept Tucker's business advice. Patty was devastated when Jack proposed to Genevieve. Ronan and Phyllis received footage showing a passed-out Nikki in the park the night of Diane's murder. Nikki burst into the courtroom as Victor was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
