Soap hunks release app for direct fan connection

Days of our Lives' Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez) and Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady) along with The Young and the Restless' Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) have teamed up with escapex for a new app that puts them directly in contact with fans.

Social media has brought daytime stars and soap opera fans closer than ever, but Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez, Days of our Lives), Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady, DAYS), and Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott, The Young and the Restless) have teamed up with escapex to launch their own app that takes star/fan communication to the next level.

The revolutionary new app puts fans and their favorite stars in direct contact with each other.

"This app is going to allow me to connect with my fans in a way that I've never been able to before," Gering shares. "Now engaging with my fans will be a two-way street. I can't wait to take control of my content, share a whole new side of myself, and get to know my biggest fans better."

As escapex general manager Joe Cuello explains, the new venture was launched as a way to brings fans closer to the stars than even social media can achieve.

"Because of the way social media has evolved, if you have a significant number of followers, you don't reach all of your fans every time you post. We allow the fans and the people that they love to connect in an environment that artists own, and where they can have interactions that sort of are bigger than and more meaningful than any other platform because it's theirs."

As motivation for people to try out the app, escapex is giving new users a chance to win dinner with Gering, Vaughan, and Thompson.

"Each of these apps is going to provide an opportunity for people to comment, and then each actor will choose someone to fly out and meet for what is, in the end, going to be a group dinner with the three guys and whoever the winners are," Cuello says. "We want people to try the app out and motivate them to download these guys' apps and start enjoying a unique experience that is akin to a fan club. It's just a 21st century version, and you have a unique sea of content that won't exist anywhere else."

Says Thompson: "What I'm most excited about is the transparency, the social outreach that I can now have with my people, my fans. I want to get to know them better as they get to know me. On top of that, I couldn't think of a better way to share what I'm up to! One of the things that has always been a big part of my daily life is music. I'm hoping this personal platform is a way to share that directly with anyone who wants to give it an ear. Can't wait for you to get to know a new side of me. Never have I gotten the chance to be this honest and personal with my fans until now."

Vaughan is also excited about the new app. "As my devoted fans know, I am dedicated to giving the best of who I am. With this new platform, I'll finally have a way to keep them in the loop of my everyday activities while simultaneously showing them how much I care about them."

Fans can download the app on both iTunes and Android stores; there's a free version, as well as an additional subscription version available for hardcore fans. The downloads are available as follows:
