Revenge recap: Abduction (Janary 18, 2015)

In order to survive, Emily and Victoria must set aside their grudge, while Jack and David race to save them before they kill each other.

Emily and Victoria awakened in a cage, and Emily looked around and realized they were near the water. Emily mentioned that she'd seen Malcolm at the lighthouse, and Victoria wondered what game Emily was playing, since she believed Malcolm was dead. Malcolm entered and declared that he was very much alive, and he noted that Amanda Clarke was also among the living. Victoria offered to give him money, but Malcolm explained that he wanted their help to send David a message. Malcolm suddenly smacked Emily, knocking her to the ground, and she bounced back to her feet, seething.

Later, Emily struggled to find a way to break free from the cage, but Malcolm advised her to save her energy, since there was no way of getting out. After Malcolm and his thugs left, Emily told Victoria that someone had checked on them every 30 minutes, so they had to do something within that time frame. Victoria refused to follow any plan Emily had concocted, and Emily told her to think about the others who'd suffer if they didn't get out, including David. Victoria huffed that Emily's words held no meaning, and she contemplated that after everything they'd done and said to one another, they might die together.

Jack burst into the beach house and found David packing, and David explained that Malcolm wouldn't be in jail for long, so David had to disappear. Jack revealed that the Feds had already released Malcolm, and David worried that Malcolm was out for blood because he thought David had double-crossed him. David planned to get Emily, and he imagined that Malcolm had been tracking his every move, but he believed Malcolm wouldn't leave without Kate, who Malcolm thought was alive. David suggested that he and Jack meet at Grayson Manor later, and he advised Jack to watch his back.

At the police station, Jack pulled Ben into an interrogation room and requested Ben's help to find Malcolm Black, and he said there was a lot more Ben didn't know. Ben understood that Malcolm wanted David dead, and he divulged that he knew the whole story, including who Emily really was. Ben refused to put his life on the line for people who'd lied to him, but Jack informed Ben that Alvarez's disappearance was tied to the case, and Ben acknowledged that Alvarez had "saved [his] ass." Jack warned that Malcolm might have people in their own department, and he begged for Ben's help.

David called out for Emily at the manor, but he found it dark. He searched the mansion, and he received a video message from Malcolm, taunting that he'd told David he'd been out of his league, so they were going to do things Malcolm's way. Malcolm demanded his daughter back alive and unharmed, and he gave David until noon the next day. Malcolm displayed footage of Emily and Victoria being manhandled by his minions, and he said he wanted the ladies to enjoy what might be their last night on earth.

David reviewed the manor's security footage, and Jack arrived and reported there had been no leads on Malcolm. David was surprised when Ben appeared behind Jack, and Jack relayed that Ben knew the truth about everything. David divulged that Malcolm had kidnapped Emily and Victoria and was holding them in exchange for Kate's return, and Malcolm wanted proof his daughter was alive. Ben suggested that Nolan fabricate such evidence, but David didn't want to put other lives at risk. David hoped to piece together something from Jack's phone to indicate that Kate was still alive.

Over video chat, Malcolm complained that David had always been slow when presented with a task, and Kate's voice suddenly said she was there. David claimed that she was alive and well, and he ordered Malcolm to cooperate, or the situation would change in a hurry. Malcolm stated that it wasn't a negotiation, and he wanted his daughter back immediately. David suggested they meet at sundown to trade Victoria and Emily for Kate.

Ben recommended that they engage a SWAT team, since multiple hostages were involved, and he speculated that Alvarez might also be a hostage. David and Ben argued, and Jack said they were wasting time, since an exchange with Malcolm would be a last resort. Ben offered to look for a record of Emily's car on the log at the police station, and all the men hoped to find Emily and Victoria's location before the meeting time.

Jack and Ben found Emily's car near the beach, and Ben assumed that Jack had known everything about Emily from the start, but Jack said he'd been in the dark at first. Jack admitted it had taken a while to make peace, but revealing her secret would have only hurt her, and he believed she was on the right side of it. The men opened the car, and they observed there had been no sign of a struggle. Ben looked up and spied a security camera, and he volunteered to find out which way she'd been taken. They made arrangements to meet up later.

Malcolm presented Emily and Victoria with some food, but Emily asked what the point was, since he planned to kill them anyway. Victoria claimed that someone else knew where Kate was, and she asked for her freedom in return for the information. Malcolm offered to give it to her if the information turned out to be valuable, and Emily ordered Victoria not to say another word, but Victoria dropped Jack's name. Emily accused Victoria of being desperate to save herself, but Malcolm instructed one of his minions to find out what Jack knew. Emily attacked the thug, but Malcolm pointed a gun at Emily's head and told his man to get as much information as he could from Jack and then kill him.

Once the women were alone, Victoria said she'd expected Emily to kill her at the lighthouse, and she wished Emily had. Emily groused that they were only in the situation because Victoria had sent Emily's photo to Kate, and Victoria argued that they both had just been trying to help David. Emily suspected that Victoria had been driven by guilt, and she contended that David didn't love Victoria. Emily relayed that David had known the lighthouse would have been the perfect place to stage the suicide of a grieving mother, and she revealed that David had been plotting Victoria's death. Malcolm appeared and proclaimed it was time to take a field trip.

David got his weapons ready, and Jack informed him that he'd found Emily's car near the lighthouse and that an APB had been put out on her. David said it wasn't enough time, since it was almost sundown, but Jack warned that David couldn't do it alone. David took responsibility for putting his friends and family in danger, and he worried he might lose his daughter, but Jack assured him that Emily could take care of herself.

Jack returned home and called out to Ben to ask if he'd found anything, but he discovered Ben bound and gagged. Jack saw a figure in the mirror, and he engaged in a vicious fight with Malcolm's thug. Jack got the upper hand and knocked the man unconscious, and he asked what Ben had learned from the security footage. Ben was stymied as to why the tapes hadn't shown anything, and Jack was sure their captive would never give up Malcolm's location.

Jack noticed a star symbol on the man's sleeve, and he recognized it as one he and Emily had used when they'd drawn treasure maps as kids. Ben thought it wasn't much to go on, and he thought they might be too late, since they hadn't heard from David. Ben inspected the henchman's shoes and reported the guy had been walking through coal, and he realized Emily had also drawn the star with coal. Jack concluded that Malcolm had taken Emily by boat and that there was only one place that used coal as fuel -- a trash site down on the water.

At the meeting point, Malcolm remarked that it had been a long time since he'd seen David, and David demanded to know where his daughter was. A car door opened, and a man led Victoria out. David asked for Amanda, but Malcolm refused to present both women until he knew Kate was safe. David claimed Kate was in his van, and Malcolm pointed a meter at the van to read the body temperature inside, but it indicated that no one was there. Malcolm surmised that Kate was no longer alive, and he shot David in the leg. Victoria screamed, and David barked to get it over with. Malcolm snarled that it would be too easy, and he needed to see David suffer first.

Malcolm and his men returned to the trash site with David and Victoria, and Emily asked what had happened. David begged Malcolm to let the women go, but Malcolm hissed that David should know him better than that. Malcolm announced that he was going to kill David, but he wanted David to watch the ladies die first. David argued that they'd had nothing to do with it, and Emily winced as Malcolm sliced David's leg with a knife. Malcolm said for old time's sake, he'd let David do the work while he watched, and he threw the knife in front of David.

Emily screamed for Malcolm to leave David alone, and Malcolm pulled back the door to the incinerator and declared that it could be a quick death for the women with one slit across the throat, or he could cut them into pieces, so it would be easier to burn the evidence. David protested as Malcolm approached Emily, and Malcolm cut her arm. Malcolm raised the knife and growled that it was for killing his daughter, but Victoria suddenly blurted out that she'd done it. Victoria bellowed that Kate had murdered her son, so she'd shot "that bitch" in cold blood. Malcolm grabbed Victoria by the throat, and she taunted that the best part had been that she'd loved killing Kate.

Malcolm head-butted Victoria, and she stumbled backward. Victoria dared Malcolm to stab her like a coward, and he obliged. Victoria gasped for breath, and Jack and Ben burst in and yelled to let her go. Jack and Ben took on Malcolm's guards, and in the melee, Jack kicked the knife over to Emily, who freed herself and attacked Malcolm. Victoria screamed Emily's name as Malcolm hit Emily over the head with a pipe and dragged her toward the incinerator. David managed to grab a gun, and shots rang out. Malcolm tossed Emily aside, and David continued to shoot until the impact propelled Malcolm into the flames.

After the police arrived, Jack told Emily he'd gotten her treasure hunt sign, and she explained that she'd convinced Victoria to create a distraction. Jack said it had made all the difference, and Emily said she'd been out of options, but she'd known Jack and David had been working together and that she'd be okay. Jack credited Ben for helping, and he mentioned that Ben was taking it hard after they'd found Alvarez's personal effects in the warehouse. She imagined it hadn't been easy to explain the situation to Ben, but Jack remarked that it had been easier than she thought.

Victoria approached David, and he couldn't believe she'd taken the blame for killing Kate to save Emily. Victoria explained that she and Emily had united in a plan so Jack would find them, and she'd sacrificed herself to buy them more time. Victoria revealed that she knew David had intended to kill her, but she wouldn't tell the police, since he and Emily deserved a life together, and she needed to mourn her son. She firmly stated that she and David needed to go their separate ways, and she told him goodbye. The paramedics wheeled David away on a stretcher.

Later, Ben dropped David off at the manor, and he relayed that David had been arguing with the doctors. David said he owed Ben a lot, but he could take it from there, and he retreated upstairs. Emily said she hadn't deserved Ben's help, but he replied that he was glad she was okay. She revealed that Jack had told her that Ben knew the truth, and she apologized, but Ben said he was relieved, since he'd thought she'd acted weird because of him.

Ben explained that he had once worked undercover and had assumed another identity to take down a drug ring, and he understood how hard it was to break people's trust in order to protect them. He added that having to push people away had gotten lonely after a while, and he didn't know exactly what Emily had been through, but he believed everything she'd done had been for the right reasons. He assured her that her secrets were safe with him, and he suggested they start over the next day. She said she'd like that, and they wished one another a good night.

At the yacht club, Louise read the newspaper, and her mother wondered whether Louise had been keeping up with Lyman's campaign. Louise assumed it was a hallucination and reached for a drink, but her mom scolded that Louise was dulling her senses before noon. Louise tried to convince herself that her mother really wasn't there, but Nolan approached, and Penelope introduced herself as Louise's mom.

As a speechless Louise looked on, Nolan asked if Penelope was there to refill Louise's prescriptions, and Penelope forced a hug upon Louise and swore she'd been worried sick, since Lyman had said Louise hadn't been doing well. Louise swore she was fine, and Penelope insisted on spending time together, but Nolan said he and Louise had appointments at the spa. Penelope revealed that she'd rented a house in the Hamptons for the summer, and she cooed that she and Louise could be close all the time, the way a real family should be.

Later, Louise opened her hotel room door and was surprised to see Penelope, who hoped to grab a late lunch. Louise told her to drop the act, and Penelope chided Louise for giving Lyman trouble. Louise retorted that it hadn't been nice to drug her, but Penelope contended that Louise had needed the pills to stay sane. Penelope reasoned that Louise's wild claims had been what had led to Penelope becoming Louise's conservator, and she pledged not to allow Louise to ruin Lyman's potential. Louise griped that Penelope had always put Lyman first, and Penelope threatened to cut Louise off if she didn't behave. Penelope fussed with Louise's hair and reminded her that the judge was on Penelope's side, and she warned Louise not to fight her on it, or Louise would end up on the losing end again.

As Nolan and Louise made dinner at his house, he was aghast when Louise revealed that her mother would cut her off if she breathed a word to anyone about her family trying to dose her. Louise lamented that her mother had paid off everyone to retain control of her father's money, and Nolan questioned how Louise had put up with Penelope all of those years. Louise recalled a time when Penelope had tried to banish her to boarding school, but Louise's father had shown up to take Louise home and to tell Penelope to find her own way back. Louise imagined that her father had left her his money to keep her safe from Penelope, but Nolan noted that it had become the thing putting Louise in danger. Louise fretted that she didn't know how to live without a bank account, and Nolan encouraged her not to give up, since there had to be another way.

Later, Penelope sipped a drink at the bar, and Louise and Nolan entered, laughing as he twirled her around. Penelope asked what they were celebrating, and Nolan announced that it was the end of Penelope's control over Louise, since they had just gotten married, which made him Louise's conservator. Nolan crowed that Louise was finally free of her mother, and Nolan went to get a bottle of his best stuff. Penelope haughtily asked if Louise thought she'd really won, and Louise chirped that the law was the law. Penelope ordered Louise to return control of her money back to Penelope, or she'd spill the truth about Louise killing her father. Penelope threatened that once she told Nolan and the rest of the world, Louise would truly be left with nothing, just like she deserved.

Margaux ignored a call in her office as she gazed at a newspaper headline about Daniel's death, and she flashed back to Victoria telling her that Emily had gone to extreme measures, but there was nothing to do about it. Margaux had argued that Emily needed to be punished for Pascal and Daniel's deaths, but Victoria had blamed herself for choosing to save Daniel years before, and she'd begged Margaux to keep it between them. Margaux made a call, and she asked someone to meet her that night.

Margaux met with the man she'd summoned, and she praised that he'd been a great help to Pascal when her father had needed things taken care of. Margaux stated that a woman needed to pay for crossing her, but the woman had already committed a crime, so there was no need to pin anything on her. The man questioned why Margaux hadn't simply turned the woman over to the police, but Margaux explained that there was missing evidence, and that was why she needed him. The man requested a name and a number, and he promised quick results.

At the beach house, Margaux sympathized that David had betrayed Victoria all along, and Victoria said she'd sensed his feelings hadn't been genuine, but she was glad she knew for certain. Margaux reiterated that Emily deserved to pay for causing them such a great amount of misery, and she contemplated splashing Emily's story all over the media in the hope it would lead to a prison sentence. Victoria contended that it wasn't worth Margaux's time, and she warned that revenge was a dangerous game.

Victoria said all that mattered to her was her grandchild, but Margaux insisted that she had to do something to honor Daniel's memory. Victoria cautioned Margaux not to do anything until she had irrefutable proof, and Margaux told her not to worry, since she'd had a way to get the evidence she needed. Margaux vowed to destroy Emily on her own.
