Regis Philbin to host Daytime Emmys

What is an awards show without a host? This year's Daytime Emmys have tapped Emmy-winning talk show host Regis Philbin as emcee. Philbin has also been honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

This year's Las Vegas telecast of the Daytime Emmys has a host, one that's very familiar to both daytime and primetime audiences. Talk and game show host Regis Philbin will helm the broadcast.

"I am delighted to host the Daytime Emmys this year. It's going to be a great night with my daytime brothers and sisters, and I hope everyone wins an award this year," Philbin said in a statement.

Philbin is an Emmy winner himself. He picked up an Outstanding Talk Show Host trophy in 2001 for his work on his self-titled talk show. After a long string of losses, Philbin won in the only year in which he served as solo host of the show. In 2001, Philbin was between hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Kelly Ripa.

Philbin also picked up an Emmy for Outstanding Game/Audience Participation Show for his hosting gig on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

In 2008, Philbin was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

This year, Live With Regis and Kelly is nominated for three Emmys, including Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment, Outstanding Talk Show Host, and Outstanding Directing in a Talk Show.

The Daytime Emmys will air June 27 at 9:00pm on CBS.
