Take Me to the Photo Shoot

After panel, several of the girls worried about their future in the competition. The judges' advice left Allison confused. She insisted that her distinctive facial features made it difficult to consistently change her facial expression. Although Aminat was certain that she had the look and the personality to be a successful model, she was concerned by the judges' criticism regarding her speech. Aminat admitted that she needed to step up her game. Meanwhile, London continued to rely on God to carry her through the competition.

Later, the girls received a Tyra Mail. It read, "A Top Model knows how to be direct." Teyona was certain that they would soon learn the location of the overseas trip.

At the challenge, Jay Manuel told the girls that it was important for a model to be familiar with the different aspects of his job, that of creative director. Jay explained that a creative director was responsible for everything that fell under the creative umbrella, including, hair, makeup, lighting, and styling. Ann Shoket, the editor-in-chief of Seventeen magazine, informed the contestants that they would be modeling clothes from South Pole Juniors. Ann related that the client wanted the models to portray street style with attitude. The winner would receive an editorial fashion spread in Seventeen.

Each contestant would get the opportunity to perform as creative director. Jay explained that the each girl would act as creative director over another contestant's shoot. The creative director would have one hour to prepare her model for the shoot. After the shoot, the creative director would be required to edit her film and select the best photo out of the bunch.

Allison worked as Aminat's creative director. Allison immediately took charge and gave Aminat detailed instructions. Jay was pleased by her assertiveness, but said that she wasn't mindful of her time.

Fo was assigned as London's creative director. Because of London's larger body type, Fo had no idea of how to style her model. London admitted that she had gained at least fifteen pounds, and was self-conscious about her weight.

Acting as Natalie's creative director, Aminat didn't manage her time well. Jay criticized Aminat for spending too much time in wardrobe instead of preparing Natalie's hair and makeup. Although Aminat's time management skills were lacking, Ann stated that Aminat had directed Natalie into a great pose.

Teyona gave Celia a look that she referred to as "hood diva." Jay loved Teyona's styling, but hated the photo that she chose in the end. Jay said that Teyona chose a mediocre photo, and bypassed the fabulous shot that he and Ann had chosen, but both judges were pleased with the manner in which she had styled Celia.

London directed Allison's shoot. Jay criticized London for making Allison a replica of herself in week one of the competition. However, the judges maintained that London had edited well and chose the best shot in the end.

Jay and Ann were pleased with Celia's direction of Fo.

Natalie appeared confident as Teyona's creative director.

Teyona was chosen as the challenge winner and told that she could pick two friends to join her in the Seventeen editorial shoot. Noting that Celia was her model and had been instrumental in her win, Teyona was grateful for her cooperation, and chose Celia and Aminat to pose with her in the spread for Seventeen. Fo was surprised that Teyona had chosen someone that she didn't particularly like. Citing that she and Teyona were close, Fo thought Teyona should have chosen her.

Back at the house, the girls received another Tyra Mail. It read, "You haven't had too much R&R. Maybe it's time for some R&B!"

Early the next morning, Jay arrived at the house with a team of hair stylists and makeup artists. The finalists were shocked when Ciara entered the house. Jay announced that the contestants would appear in a photo shoot with Ciara.

At the shoot, the girls were ushered inside Webster Hall. After introducing the girls to their photographer, Mike Ruiz, Jay explained how the photo shoot would play out. While Ciara sang on stage, each girl would pose as an obsessed fan, entangled in Ciara's microphone wires. Mike told the girls to be conscious of their face and body throughout the shoot.

When London noticed the revealing bathing suits, she was concerned by her weight. Mike thought she looked awkward. After her shoot, Jay asked London about her weight gain. He told her that a model had to treat her body like a temple. Noting her extreme physical change, Jay was uncertain whether London could handle the pressures of the modeling world. London was devastated.

Ciara enjoyed working with Celia, and Jay thought they interacted well together.

Jay, Mike, and Ciara praised Teyona's daring poses.

Natalie was determined to show more expression, and Jay was pleased with her shoot.

Fo was confident. Jay thought she gave variety in the face.

Frustrated by Allison's awkwardness, Jay and Mike provoked her into showing emotion in the face.

Insisting that Aminat looked like a fish out of water, Jay said that she was the worst of the day. Jay thought that Aminat possessed drive and strong energy, but he was frustrated because she never displayed those traits in front of the camera.

Back at the house, Aminat and London were disappointed by their performance in the photo shoot.

At panel, Tyra introduced Mike Ruiz as the guest judge, and announced that the remaining six girls would be traveling to Brazil after the elimination.

J. Alexander thought Natalie stood out more than Ciara in her photo. Tyra commented that Natalie's shot was stunning, but warned her to step out of her comfort zone and be more present in her face.

Tyra complimented Aminat on her appearance at panel. However, Nigel thought she looked bewildered in her picture. Tyra said that Aminat seemed lost, and obviously didn't understand how her body related to the camera

The judges applauded Celia's consistent fashion sense and loved her shot.

The judges raved over Teyona's fierce pose. Mike commented that Teyona was more aware of her environment than the other girls.

Nigel believed that London tried too hard, and suggested that she develop a better understanding of what angles worked for her. J. Alexander commented on her weight gain.

The judges loved Fo's look and thought her angles were beautiful.

The judges were pleased that Allison had finally showed another look in her shoot.

After the judges' deliberation, the contestants returned to learn the judges' decision.

Teyona was told that she had the best picture, and was called first.

Fo, Natalie, Celia, and Allison were all told that they were still in the running to become America's Next Top Model.

Aminat and London were asked to step forward.

Tyra said that Aminat had a beautiful body and strong face, and the judges thought she might succeed on the runway - but not in print. London was told that she smiled with her eyes, but the judges didn't see that quality in her pictures.

London, the eighteen-year-old self-proclaimed street preacher from Arlington, Texas, was sent home.

Six girls remained.
