On the semifinals week, the remaining four contestants danced to see who would make it into the season finale. Each pair danced two dances- one Latin and one ballroom -- for judges' scores and viewer votes. Here's how the night went:
Pair: Melissa and Tony
Dance #1: Quickstep
Song: Who Could Ask for Anything More?
Score: 28/30
Judges' Comments:
Carrie Ann: Said the dance was nice and pretty, but Melissa didn't seem to bring any joy to the dance
Bruno: Said that the dance was good, but not as exhilarating as it could have been
Len: Said the dance was a delight and Melissa's feet were much improved
Dance #2: Cha-cha
Song: Save the Last Dance for Me
Score:27/30
Judges' Comments:
Carrie Ann: Said that the size of Melissa's steps varied a bit too much
Bruno: Said Melissa needed to sustain her endurance through the whole dance
Len: Didn't think the dance was to the standard of Melissa's samba
Pair: Gilles and Cheryl
Dance #1: Waltz
Song: Come Away With Me
Score: 30/30
Judges' Comments:
Carrie Ann: Said Gilles and Cheryl's dance was breathtaking, subtle, sweet, and perfect
Bruno: Proclaimed that this waltz was how people earned their way to the finals
Len: Gave Gilles and Cheryl a "seated" standing ovation
Dance #2: Samba
Song: I Know You Want Me
Score: 30/30
Judges' Comments:
Carrie Ann: Said the dance showed Gilles at his best
Bruno: Said that Lil' Kim was alive and well; and she was hiding in Gilles's pants
Len: Wished that he had an "11" paddle to score the dance even higher than a "10"
Pair: Shawn and Mark
Dance #1: Argentine Tango
Song: Instrumental
Score: 30/30
Judges' Comments:
Carrie Ann: Said Shawn delivered on the lifts, passion, and precision
Bruno: Called Shawn "Catherine Zeta Shawn" and then likened the dance to Cellblock Tango from Chicago
Len: Said Shawn danced with a maturity that he wasn't expecting
Dance #2: Jive
Song: Reet Petite (The Finest Girl You Ever Wanna Meet)
Score: 26/30
Judges' Comments:
Carrie Ann: Thought the dance got a little heavy towards the end, but it was still a good dance
Bruno: Said even tough the dance was more Lindy Hop than jive, Shawn still managed to sell it
Len: Thought the dance was fast and liked the feeling, but didn't think there was enough traditional jive content in the dance
Pair: Ty and Chelsie
Dance #1: Viennese Waltz
Song: Tuesday's Gone
Score: 25/30
Judges' Comments :
Carrie Ann: Said that Ty struggled a bit and wobbled on the turns
Bruno: Didn't think the dance was smooth or effortless enough for that point in the competition
Len: Said that no one had tried more than Ty to be a dancer and thought the dance was fabulous
Dance #2: Samba
Song: Concrete and Clay
Score: 23/30
Judges' Comments:
Carrie Ann: Said that Ty reminded people that hard work and determination could make anything possible
Bruno: Said that Ty threw everything but the kitchen sink into the samba
Len: Said that Ty's ballroom style was like Arthur Murray, but his Latin style was more like "Murray in a hurry"
In addition to the dancing, viewers learned that the two remaining competitors in the pro competition would be dancing with Kym and Maks on results night for viewer votes.
