Alistair relishes the idea of tearing Sheridan and Luis apart with his secret. Julian remains convinced that Alistair is lying and trying to get Julian to help him destroy Sheridan and Luis's relationship. Julian tells Alistair that if he tries to murder them again, he will get caught, and Alistair replies smugly that he won't have to hurt anyone to break them up-in fact, he can do it from behind his desk by uttering one word. Alistair calls in his secretary and asks her to make arrangements for a party tonight, and to invite Luis, Sheridan, Julian, Eve, Pilar, Martin, "Mrs. Wheeler," and Beth. He is planning to reveal his secret at this party.
Pilar slaps Mrs. Wheeler across the face when Mrs. Wheeler tries to apologize. Pilar finally takes out all of her anger on Mrs. Wheeler and then tells her she is a monster worse than Alistair Crane. She is shocked when she uncovers that Mrs. Wheeler was from Harmony, knew of Pilar and all of the Lopez-Fitzgeralds, and had children of her own, but Pilar hasn't yet discovered Mrs. Wheeler's true identity. Mrs. Wheeler asks Pilar not to blame Martin for all of this.
Theresa and Gwen have a furious confrontation about who should be in the NICU with the baby. Gwen is heartbroken and enraged that her baby is alone and possibly dying and she is unable to be there with her. Ethan tries to get Judge Riley to let him file the papers saying that Theresa has no right to the baby, but nothing can be done until morning, and without the papers, Theresa is legally the mother. Eve tries to reason with Theresa but has no success. Theresa will not back down and keeps insisting that she be allowed to be with "her" baby. Theresa muses that maybe it is time Gwen knew the truth about her sleeping with Ethan, but Eve manages to talk her out of that. Gwen pleads with Eve to let her be with her child, but Eve says it is hospital policy that the woman who gave birth to the child be in the NICU with it, and allows only Theresa into the NICU.
Luis manages to put together a rooftop picnic for he and Sheridan, and they talk about getting married and starting a family. Luis tells her that they will name their first daughter Katherine, and they agree they want a lot of children. Luis promises her that their heartache is over now, but Sheridan can't shake the feeling that something horrible will happen.
Outside the NICU at the hospital, Gwen confronts Eve and Theresa about going in to be with the baby. Theresa claims that her baby needs to be with her because she knows her voice and smell. Until the legal papers go through, Eve can only allow Theresa, the birth mother access to the NICU. Gwen starts choking Theresa in her anger. Ethan breaks up the fight and calms her down. She wants to be in there taking care of her baby girl. She thinks Theresa may even try to kidnap the baby. She says she was an idiot for trusting Theresa and she doesn't think it's fair. Eve gets Gwen a shot of Valium to knock her out, because she's so out of control. Theresa thanks Eve. Eve chastises Theresa and tells her not to go in and bond with the baby. Theresa snaps back at her and stalks into the NICU to be with the baby. She tells the baby that they will all be a family together and be happy ever after. She sings to the baby and then fantasizes about life with Ethan and the children.
In another part of the hospital, Katherine tells Pilar that she's concerned about Theresa and Pilar confronts Katherine with all the things that would have been different for her family if Mrs. Wheeler hadn't stolen Martin from them. Katherine blurts out that she abandoned her own children. Pilar demands to know who Katherine's husband and children are. Katherine says she can't tell her. Pilar tells her she's a monster with ice water running through her veins. Rebecca shows up wanting to know Theresa's status and manages to get in some digs about Pilar's husband's mistress. Katherine takes offence and then Rebecca tells her she's on her side, and then reveals that Mrs. Wheeler has had plastic surgery. Light dawns for Pilar as she realizes she must know Katherine as her old self before plastic surgery and demands to know who she really is. Ethan carries a knocked out Gwen past. Rebecca and Pilar run after them. Rebecca is angry when Ethan explains all about the fight. Rebecca accuses Pilar of being in on Theresa's plot to take the baby. After Pilar leaves, Rebecca tells Ethan he's going to have to fight like a terrier to get the baby from Theresa. Rebecca then accuses Ethan of knowing something about Theresa and the baby and he remembers the time Theresa told him he slept with her.
Pilar goes to the NICU and asks Eve about the baby. She tells Pilar that the next 45-50 hours are crucial to the baby's survival. Pilar is worried that Theresa will bond with the baby. Eve says she doesn't think Theresa is planning to give up the baby. Pilar thinks she hasn't been a good mother to Theresa for her daughter to live in this happy ending fantasy world. Eve goes to the NICU to counsel Theresa that the baby is Gwen's and to leave her. Theresa claims ownership. She says she knows Ethan still loves her and he'll join them. Eve tells her that this will break Gwen's heart. Theresa says that this is her little girl and she's going to get them all back. Her baby girl is sick and she wants Eve to leave them alone.
Martin joins Katherine. Martin notices the slap mark from Pilar on Katherine's face. He says if Alistair did it, he'll kill him. Katherine tells him it was Pilar and he gets a stricken look on his face. He's going to speak to Pilar. She shouldn't take out her anger on Katherine instead of him. In his anger, he slams his fist into a wall.
In Alistair's office, Julian tells Alistair that he should just leave Sheridan alone. Alistair says that one word spoken at his party tonight will ruin Sheridan and Luis's relationship forever. Julian says he's ashamed of the man he's become. He bemoans the fact that he promised his mother he'd protect Sheridan and then turned on her in doing his father's dirty work. Alistair calls him a whining Nancy-boy. After Julian leaves, Alistair instructs his assistant to have the party invitations hand delivered and not to accept any regrets. Everybody must attend the party, especially the main attraction, Mrs. Wheeler. Alistair mutters to himself that his children must take after their mother. Katherine made a mistake if she thinks she could protect them by leaving him.
Sheridan and Luis talking on the hospital roof discuss eloping tonight. They should get away from her father and wait until Julian tells them that they are clear to get married. Luis doesn't want to hide from anybody. He tells her she deserves the wedding of her dreams in front of all of her friends, right there in Harmony. He doesn't want to run from Alistair. Julian finds them and tells them that Alistair found out. He tells them that it doesn't matter if Antonio is declared dead because they will be torn apart with one word. Julian says that he fears his father is going to destroy them all. Mr. Crane's secretary finds them and gives them each their invitation.
Julian muses over the "one word" that Alistair can apparently break Sheridan and Luis apart with, and tells them not to count on getting married. Alistair joins them on the roof and says what he has to say at the party is literally a matter of life or death and he expects to see them there.
Eve and Pilar try once again to convince Theresa to give the baby back to Gwen and Ethan. Dr. Carlyle examines the baby and says that she is stable but still critical. Eve tells Theresa that she had a blood test done on the baby, and asks her what she would do if the information said that Gwen was the mother. Theresa is forlorn when she thinks that the baby is not hers, and says that if the baby isn't hers, she can't keep her. She is shocked and furious when Eve admits that there was no blood test, and she just wanted to show Theresa that she was not so sure that she is the mother.
Alistair's assistant gives invitations to Pilar and Eve. Luis and Sheridan announce their engagement to Pilar, who is overjoyed to hear the good news. Julian, Eve, Pilar, Luis and Sheridan realize they all have a motive to kill Alistair. Julian and Eve think that if Alistair was murdered, everyone would be a suspect.
Rebecca and Sam are still clueless as to why Theresa thinks she has a right to the baby. Ethan lies and says she must have bonded with her during the pregnancy, and Sam offers to help him get the papers filed at the courthouse. Rebecca wishes Theresa was dead.
Beth continues to search the Internet for information on "Mrs. Wheeler" at the book café. When Tabitha arrives and asks what she is doing, Beth gives her a flimsy cover story and says she is trying to find out about Mrs. Wheeler for Little Martin's sake, but Tabitha finds out what she is really up to by talking to Precious. Mrs. Wallace notices that Tabitha hasn't aged at all, and tells Beth that she won't find anything on Mrs. Wheeler unless Alistair wants her to. Beth hatches yet another plan to break up Luis and Sheridan-she decides to kill Alistair. When Beth discovers Tabitha "innocently" reading a book on poison, she gets Tabitha to let her borrow it.
Martin and Katherine also receive their invitation to Alistair's party, and figure out that Alistair is throwing it so he can reveal who "Mrs. Wheeler" really is and stop Luis and Sheridan from getting married. Katherine tries unsuccessfully to convince Sheridan and Luis to elope. Katherine worries that no one will believe them when they tell them how Alistair abused her, and decides that she will take care of Alistair now.
Sam overhears Ethan talking to himself, wondering who the baby's mother is. Alistair is watching the drama in the hospital unfold and wondering who has the guts to attempt to murder him, when Katherine shows up in the room with a knife!
At Alistair's office, Katherine confronts him about what he's going to tell at the party, Alistair lunges at her and when they struggle, Martin runs in and grabs him around the throat. Alistair's goons break up the fight and as the "guests of honor" for tonight's party leave, Alistair spits out that he'll get his revenge.
Fox and Whitney go to her Dad's house and as they walk in they discuss the baby. TC and Liz walk in and hear them. T.C. is angry. "How could she get pregnant by a Crane?" Fox distances himself from the rest of his family and says he's "over the moon" about the baby. As they discuss Alistair and how he even gave Chad money to date Whitney, T.C. says that Alistair should die. Liz reminds T.C. he's going to be a grandpa and should congratulate Whitney. After the kids leave, Liz asks T.C. if he wants a sandwich and he says no, he wants to be left alone. She goes for a walk and T.C. violently throws his drink against the wall.
Outside, Fox comforts Whitney and then asks her about something she said to her dad - she told him that she and Fox had always used birth control before that one time and forgot that time, but in reality, that was the first time they made love and they'd always used protection after that. She tells him he was right, she had misspoken. His cell phone rings and it's Tina, Alistair's secretary telling him he's fired and out of the will. He cancels dinner with Whitney and stalks off to confront his grandfather. Whitney mutters that the reason she's pregnant by Chad is because of Alistair.
Precious the orangutan is running the Book Café and Beth is reading a book about poisons in order to get rid of a "two-legged rat" as she tells Tabitha, when Alistair's secretary delivers an invitation to his party for Beth. Tabitha tells Precious all about Beth wanting to kill Alistair. Mrs. Wallace tells Beth not to kill Alistair because people say the day of Alistair's funeral will be the day Sheridan can marry Luis. Beth leaves to get what she needs. Chad walks in and orders a cappuccino, then Liz walks in and Chad shares his woes with her. Liz says, "You're right, it always comes back to Alistair. That man should be killed." Mrs. Wallace tells Precious that Beth is going to the mansion to kill Alistair and finally the secrets will come out and Marty will be with his real mom and dad.
At the hospital, Luis, Sheridan and Pilar discuss Alistair's motives for having the party. Sheridan thinks that he just wants to celebrate her wedding to Luis. Luis tells her that can't be. Martin and Katherine go back to the hospital to warn Luis and Sheridan not to go to the party. Luis angrily asks "what does it matter to them anyway?" Luis, Pilar and Sheridan start to leave to change for the party. Katherine tells Martin she's going to freshen up, but looks like she's going to head for Alistair. Martin says he's going for coffee and looks like he's got something up his sleeve. Beth shows up to ask Luis and Sheridan about the party. They tell her they don't know what's going on and then Luis, Sheridan and Pilar make excuses to leave separately. They all seem to have malice on their minds.
Across the room, Eve and Julian discuss Alistair and how nice it would be to kill him. Chad runs in to tell them that Alistair has sent him a letter firing him from Crane Industries and telling him that he won't inherit anything from the Cranes. Alistair also tells him there are two strikes against him - he's black and a bastard. Eve and Julian stand up for Chad, telling him he deserves to be part of the Crane family and money and Chad throws it back in their face. He's angry at Alistair and runs off to do something about it. As Julian leaves, Eve wonders if she shouldn't do something about him herself.
We next see Alistair, his goons, and his secretary, Tina, dressed for a black tie event. Alistair instructs Tina to replace a mirror with a picture and to make a phone call that he'd assigned to her earlier. The picture is one of Katherine with a veil, holding a baby that he had commissioned after she left. The doorbell rings, Alistair and Tina go to answer it and while they stand there looking for whomever rang the bell, a black-gloved hand dumps poison into Alistair's brandy snifter. Julian walks in, then Eve, then Luis, then Sheridan then Pilar, then Beth. (They've all been on their own for a period of time on some pretext without anybody to alibi them) Alistair asks Tina to show everyone in. Sheridan notices the painting and tells Luis that it has something to do with the party. Katherine arrives, and Alistair starts talking roughly to his guest of honor then Martin arrives "stay away from my wife!" he demands. Alistair digs him about which wife and indicates that Pilar is in the other room. They enter the living room and Katherine notices the painting and knows that Alistair is going to ruin Sheridan's life with it. Alistair welcomes them all "Tonight will be a night that none of you will forget - ever" The goons bring in Liz and a drunk T.C. They were out on the grounds. Whitney runs in to rescue him. Fox and Chad burst in to confront Alistair about getting dumped from the will. Alistair picks up his brandy snifter; he's going to tell them why he had them over, and takes a swig. They all watch guiltily as he drinks swallow after swallow.
Back at witch central, Tabitha watches everybody on split screen TV as they prepare to do in Alistair. She muses that this is Endora's first murder. Tabitha cackles to Endora that this is how the family business is done.
At the end of the day we have a long list of party guests (invited and uninvited) who would love to see their host dead.
Gwen has to be sedated when she lunges at Theresa and tries to choke her. Ethan confesses to Sam that he and Theresa slept together and that Theresa could be the biological mother of the newborn. A worried Theresa remains in the NICU with the newborn, convincing herself the child is truly hers.
Alistair's party begins at the Crane estate, and Alistair threatens to shake things up with the use of "one word." Katherine gets more and more upset as she sees her evil husband points to his painting of a veiled mother and child as the reason for the party.
Alistair almost drinks his cognac, which had been poisoned earlier by a mystery person. All the invited guests are suspects, including Eve, Julian, Beth, Luis, Sheridan, Katherine, Martin and Pilar. Adding to the list of people who may have poisoned the drink are those who showed up unexpectedly -- TC, Liz, Whitney, Chad and Fox.
