Scott and Lucy discovered an unconscious Frank in the park and realized that Christina was missing. Meanwhile, Chris just missed finding Julie and Christina. Chris placed a frantic phone call to Kevin and led him, Scott, Lucy, Frank and the police to the area where Julie was last seen. The authorities tailed Julie and witnessed her car spin out of control and careen down a ravine.
Scott, Lucy, Chris, Kevin and Frank then watched helplessly as Julie's car exploded. Gabriela assisted Eve and Joe in the emergency room and continued to click with Joe. Later, the situation at the hospital took a dangerous turn when a patient became violent and threatened Gabriela.
Joe is impressed when Gabriela easily deals with an abusive patient who attempts to manhandle her. At the accident scene, Garcia has his hands full holding back Christina's birth father and her anguished adoptive parents as they watch the burning car explode. Back at GH, Mary panics to learn that a car crash on Route 9 may have endangered her infant granddaughter. Chris, Frank and the others realize they've been had when a quick inspection of the wrecked vehicle reveals that it was rigged to go over the cliff with no one inside. Later, Kevin phones Eve at the hospital to report that the crash was just a ruse intended to buy Julie more time to escape with Christina. Meanwhile, the police and a half dozen anxious volunteers spread out to cover the airport, bus terminals and train stations in hopes of finding someone who has seen Julie or the baby. Warning that Cedric and three of his running buddies are hot on their trail, Alison gives Valerie and Jamal a wad of cash she lifted from her wealthy father's wallet.

Ian and Joe are in the on-call room discussing a patient of Ian's. Ian can't figure out what's wrong and has decided to go through some other cases at the hospital to see if he can find a clue. Boardman comes in and yells at Joe for roughing up a patient while on suspension (it would be okay otherwise?) Though Boardman's behavior was much like Ian's towards Gabrielle, Ian seems amazed. Joe told him he isn't always liked because he's a rule-breaker. Gabrielle arrives in answer to Joe's page - he has a surprise for her. He takes her to a stockroom so she can practice IV insertion on a dummy. The discuss how close she is to her parents and brothers while she practices. She finally gets it and thanks Joe for his patience.
Scott is preparing to go to Brazil on the tip he got from one of his operatives. Lucy wants to go along, she's worried about who will comfort Christina and make sure she knows she's loved. Scott finally snaps and told her he will - her father. He told Lucy she needs to stay with Serena, now that Karen and Christina are gone, she shouldn't be alone. Lucy says Serena has Gail and Charlene - Scott yells at her that Serena needs her mother.
Kevin confronts Rachel, accusing her of helping Julie. She denies it. He tells her that he's right there, she should come after him and not hurt other people along the way.
Lucy and Scott tell Serena that's he's going to Brazil. She's not happy and is worried about Christina's safety. Scott assures her that Julie wouldn't hurt Christina. Kevin arrives and Serena and Lucy head to the kitchen to get him some apple pie. Scott asks Kevin to take care of his girls - Kevin agrees and Scott leaves. Kevin talks to Serena about Julie and Christina. He told her he thinks Julie thinks they are on a great adventure. Serena compares them to Wendy and her brothers going to Never Never Land, and they all decide that they will wait for Christina to return home - just like Wendy's family did. Serena feels happier and Lucy thanks Kevin. She tearfully told him she will wait for her angel to come flying back - Kevin says he never doubted it.
Chris gets a package (actually an envelope, but they call it a package) with a picture of Julie and Christina and a letter. Chris reads the letter while he flashes back to good times with Julie. In the letter, Julie told him she loves him and is sorry for hurting him. She knows he must be angry and hurt. She drained their bank accounts, but signed over the royalties from DL-56. She wants him to take the money and make his dreams come true - just as he made hers come true. She told him she didn't tell him of her plan because he would have given up being a doctor to go with and she didn't want that. She knows he'll be okay, but Christina needs her. Shaking with suppressed emotion, Chris removes his wedding ring and drops it on the letter.
Later, Rachel runs into Chris at the hospital. She taunts him about Julie leaving and he deserving it for interfering between her and Julie. He told her she acts as if they are now even - but they aren't by a long shot. He leaves and she smirks.
Chris and Ian are in the on-call room - Ian comments on a patient of Chris' that he diagnosed with MS. Chris scolds him and told him not to interfere with his patients. It turns out Ian is actually complimenting him for his thoroughness in checking the MS patient first for Lyme disease - he wouldn't have thought of it.
Eve vows to spend more time with Serena and Lucy while they all anxiously await news about Christina. Meanwhile, Kevin tells Frank how Scott flew to Rio to check out a lead on the baby. Alison returns to the secret hiding place and rails at Jamal for failing to take Valerie and her baby safely out of town. When Alison demands her money back, Valerie explains that the cash has already been spent on diapers and other necessities. Kevin asks his father to step in and assist with the Nurses' Ball to ease the pressure on an already over-stressed Lucy. Frank warns Jamal not to trust Alison to keep his secret. Eve balks when Kevin encourages her to perform at the ball. As a despondent Chris listens to Julie's voice on his answering machine, Alison saunters up and tries to talk the doctor into buying her a martini. Watching from behind the bar, a seething Frank mutters under his breath about teaching Chris a lesson. Joe and Gabriela's friendship continues to blossom. Frank decks Chris as Cedric enters the Recovery Room.
