Born in the Dominican Republic, Yorlin moved to the United States in 1983. Growing up, Yorlin was a fanatic of American television comedies, and credits shows like Gimme a Break and Three's Company for teaching him how to speak English.
Yorlin attended school in New York City at the LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts. During a spring drama festival, Yorlin was spotted by his future agent and immediately signed. One of his first professional jobs was dancing in a fashion show with Michael Jackson. Yorlin then went on to appear in a number of commercials, before joining the cast of One Life to Live.
When not working, Yorlin hangs out with his close-knit circle of friends listening to jazz, bowling, playing pool and attending poetry readings. Yorlin claims that he would have pursued a career in baseball if he didn't succeed as an actor.
