In San Cristobel:
Richard comes in from his trip and meets up with Dax. He tells him that the trip was a success, not only did he find Rourke but he also admitted to everything including Edmund being the mastermind behind the plot. Edmund's objective was to make Cassie look like a harlot and Richard tells Dax that he will pay for his actions. Richard tells Dax that Rourke received a Swiss bank account and a place to hide between Edmund's Euro-trash friends in Majorca. He says that Rourke told him that Ed thought he should be the true ruler of SC because he would be ruthless and severe. His plan concerning Richard was to undermine his marriage to the point that Richard would be forced to abdicate. Richard tells Dax, he is committed to duty and honor and is bound to turn the throne over to Ed because of that. Dax tells him that he cannot take the word of a proven liar. He must stall a bit longer and investigate further. He tells Richard that until he has proof he should do nothing because he cannot be sure. Someone could possible be trying to get the brothers against each other and thus bring down the house of Winslow. Richard says that is Edmund's theory. Dax reminds Richard he cannot react emotionally to his brother's behavior. Richard agrees and asks where they go from here. Dax says he must determine his parentage first. They discuss DNA testing. Richard says he won't exhume Charlotte's body. Dax wonders if there were a set of hairbrushes or a tiara with some hair. Richard remembers Ed has a watch fob containing a lock of his mother's hair. Dax offers to search his room. Richard tells Dax to invite Ed in to see him. Dax is skeptical, but Richard thinks he has the upper hand.

Edmund comes into a room and sees Beth alone staring out a window. He asks her why she is troubled and she tells him that she is worried about Phillip and Harley, but mostly Harley. Ed wonders why she is worried about Harley. Beth says she is sure she (Harley) thinks she (Beth) is the reason for her marital problems. Ed tells her that if she does she would be right. Beth is shocked at his stance on the issue. Ed continues by saying that the connection between Phil and Beth is obvious, electric. Beth tells him that she doesn't want it that way. Edmund tells her that it isn't fate, just a bad habit, a habit that Beth can break.

Richard is waiting for Edmund. Ed comes in as Dax is leaving. Ed says Dax looked like he should expect a firing squad. Ed asks how he can help. Richard says he needs a favor for Cassie. She is away but wants to expand the exhibit for the children's museum. Richard wonders if Ed has any mementoes. Ed says nothing from his father. Richard reminds him that he was their mother's favorite and Ed remembers the watch fob. Ed calls one of the aides to get it from his armoire. He tells him to bring it to the sitting room. Richard thanks Ed and Ed says "Anything for crown and country." Richard says he is beginning to believe that. Ed asks Richard if he is hostile and wonders what he has done now. Richard asks him if he wants to confess something.

Susan enters and apologizes for interrupting. Richard tells her she is welcome to stay. Susan thanks Richard for letting her stay here, away from having to see the burnt house in Springfield. Susan says Edmund is the best friend anyone could ask for. He has helped all of her family. Richard tells Ed he has quite a fan. Susan says she has heard bad things but he has been nothing but kind to her. The aide arrives with the watch fob. Ed shows it to Susan and then gives it to Richard. He leaves. Ed tells Susan she didn't need to say those things about him. Susan says they are true. Ed asks her to ride with him but she wants to call Harley first. Susan asks him to stay so she doesn't chicken out. She calls and talks to her about Zach. Susan asks how she is doing and mentions the divorce. Harley says she is hanging in. Harley is surprised at Susan and thought she would be happy about the divorce. Susan says now that Phil is getting a divorce he will be totally free. Harley asks if she means he is free to go after Beth. Susan tries to dodge the issue and admits to being stuck between Beth and Harley. Harley asks how Susan is and says she misses her. Susan says she will be back soon, Phil gave them a deadline. Harley tells Susan she loves her. After they hang up, Ed asks about Harley. Susan says everyone thinks Ed is the bad one but she knows it is Phil who hurts everyone.

He apologizes to Noah and Reva for the bad news but he has to let them know that Marah had been kidnapped.

At the Bauers':
Michelle comes in followed by Danny, carrying all her packages. Michelle says that the baby will have everything it needs including its daddy. Danny tells her that two days together doesn't solve all their problems. Michelle challenges Danny to walk out the door. Danny says the past couple of days were great. They were in a city where they had no history, no enemies. It was separate from reality. Michelle insists that she is not afraid of his world anymore. Danny says a few days ago, people were following her. Danny doesn't want her and the baby to be part of his life. Michelle asks what if he can't stop her. She tells him about Tony, asking him to get there ASAP. He tells May to call Ray and no one else. Danny tells Michelle that there is an emergency and Michelle wants to go with him. Danny is wiping the blood of Tony's face while trying to get him to come to. Ray, Catalina, Michelle and May are in the office too. Tony wakes up and asks, "Where is she?" Danny asks him who did this. Tony looks around and says he can't tell him. Danny asks the ladies to leave them alone a moment. They leave and Tony tells Danny that the goons grabbed Marah. He tries to get up saying he has to find her but he cant. He tells Danny and Ray how they were at the Lewis' and one of the men grabbed her and the other started beating on him. Ray and Danny are concerned and Ray thinks they should call the cops. Danny thinks the only way to protect Marah is to deal with it themselves. He thinks the whole situation was a ploy to get his attention. Some of the families don't like what he is doing and want to bargain with him. Danny says he just has to figure out how to get her back. Ray insists on calling the police and Danny finally agrees, deciding to ask Frank to be discreet. Danny asks Ray to take Tony to the hospital while he contacts Frank. Catalina goes with them while Michelle waits for Danny. Michelle asks Danny what happened. He tells her when they couldn't get to Michelle, they snatched Marah. Michelle says the danger is not from him but from his work. Frank arrives. Danny wants him to keep this information to himself. He tells Frank about Marah's kidnapping. He thinks he knows who did it but needs Frank to be restrained. Frank agrees as long as Danny levels with him. He says he will handle the Lewis's while Danny goes to look for Marah. He wants Frank to tell the Lewis's that Marah is safe and they are trying to get her back. Frank tells Michelle he wishes she wasn't in on this and Danny agrees. Frank leaves and Danny calls Carlos. He asks him what he knows about the situation. Danny tells Michelle he may have a lead on who has Marah. She asks what he will do. Danny says whatever it takes.

On the Spaulding Jet:
Olivia and Josh are on the couch drinking champagne. He tells her that he wants to get the island so they can bask in seclusion. They kiss and talk about the future. He doesn't want to wait and wishes they were already there. Olivia suggests that she knows a way to pass the time. Josh likes her ideas and they start to sit back on the couch when the phone rings. Olivia tells him it is Reva and they shouldn't answer it. Josh thinks it could be a business contact for Alan and they should answer it and scoop the competition. Josh teases and says that it may be a telemarketer. Olivia asks him if they should answer it. Josh tells her to go ahead and answer it. She does and is surprised that it is Frank. Frank asks to speak to Josh. Josh answers and Frank apologizes for calling him and tells him about Marah's abduction. Josh tells him that he doesn't believe him and then puts the call on the speakerphone so Olivia can enjoy the joke as well. Frank tries to tell Josh that it isn't a joke and that Marah and Tony were on the porch at the Lewis house when four guys came out and beat up Tony and took Marah. He asks Frank why Reva didn't hear anything. Olivia asks where Reva came up with this story and Frank says she got the story from him and Danny. Josh realizes this is for real. Josh puts Frank on hold, he is upset and Olivia says that they have to go back. She tries to reassure Josh that they will find Marah. Josh tells Frank they will be turning the plane around.

At the Lewises':
Frank repeats that Marah had been kidnapped. Reva tells him that she is at school. Frank tells her that Tony and Marah were on the front porch when four thugs came up and kidnapped her and beat Tony pretty badly. Reva realizes that she was in the kitchen and Shayne was asleep. Reva thinks Perdita may be responsible. Frank asks who Perdita is. Noah and Reva are talking about Perdita but Noah doesn't think she would do it. He will talk to her but thinks Frank should follow other leads. Frank tells Reva that thugs were following Michelle last week. He thinks Marah may be thought of as a Santos woman. Reva is angry and wants to take Danny and Tony apart. She wants to go on TV and demand Marah's return. Noah and Frank try to calm her. They tell her to let Danny try to get Marah back. Frank wonders if there is anything he can do and Reva says she needs a big favor. She gets Frank to call Josh and break the news and he does. Afterwards, she thanks him and tells him that with the way things have been going he would have never believed her. Reva thinks a moment and asks Frank if Tony and Marah staged this. Frank tells her that Tony was hurt pretty bad and he doesn't think it was staged. Reva is upset and wonders why this is happening to her daughter. Frank says the thugs want to bargain with Danny and he is sure they won't hurt Marah. Noah says if they wanted to hurt Marah, they would have left her with Tony. Frank tells Reva to stay home in case someone tries to call her. She asks Frank to keep in touch. Frank tells Noah to tie her down if he has to. Reva tells Noah to get out his spy book and do something. Noah says if this is mob related, his contacts can't help. He tells her to take deep breaths. She asks Noah to check on Shayne. Noah tells Reva to stay put while he goes upstairs. She gets her coat and leaves.

In San Cristobel:
Richard is looking at his cup again and says he wonders Princess Charlotte wanted him to know. She put the cup under his nose every day and she must have hated him. Dax says the princess wasn't capable of hating, especially not him. Richard gives Dax the lock of hair that Ed had given him. Dax says that Charlotte loved Richard and knew he was the one who should rule. Dax takes the hair for the test. He asks if Richard has spoken to Cassie. Richard says he had twice today but it is still not enough. Dax reminds him that he can't be with her for her safety. Richard says maybe he shouldn't be near Edmund either and will take the yacht out for a while. Dax assures him that no one knows who the hair belongs to so the tests will be discreet and quick. They will know soon. Richard wonders if in his right mind he could turn the country over to Edmund.

In the garden, Edmund and Beth are having a picnic. Beth sits on the table rock and notices the angel. Edmund says the angel is morose and he has always avoided her. Beth says the angel looks so sad and asks if she means something. Ed tells her that he isn't sure but she has a twin on Richard's christening cup. Beth thinks that is strange. Ed pours Beth some tea and tells her that it is getting cold. She asks him if he had ever served anyone before. He says he hasn't but has seen it done many times. Beth is happy and tells him that the island is so full of life and Springfield is so full of death. Ed tells her that it is just dormant but spring is just around the corner. Beth says she wishes she could hide out there forever. She smells something in the air and tells him that she dreamed of gardenia's last night and awoke to tons of them on her balcony. Ed pulls a bouquet of gardenias out of the picnic basket and Beth smiles. She thought she had smelled them again. She asked him how he knew gardenias were her favorite. He tells her that he didn't, he had just hoped. Ed says that his mother used to grow gardenias in the greenhouse. Beth says she once spent a month trying to paint a gardenia and capture its texture. Ed asks her if she would like to start painting again. He tells her the things we dream about when we are young still matter. Beth says it is too late and she hadn't painted in years, she changes the subject. She asks Ed if he was close to his mother. He says his mother tried and was compensating for his father's coldness. In the garden she was very playful and kind to him. Edmund admits trying to get attention anyway he could even through negative means. Beth smiles at Edmund and he kisses her hand. He tells her that he could be very abhorrent. Beth tells Edmund he could never be abhorrent to her. She knows the things he has done but that is in the past and she knows he has changed. Ed says villainy is lonely and expensive. You keep having drinks poured on you and having to get your clothes cleaned. Beth has cream on her lips and Edmund wipes it off, then leans closer to her, touching her face. He touches her neck and tells her it feels like rain. Beth wonders why he is discussing the weather when he was that close to kissing her. He says there is a storm coming and is a lot of electricity in the air. She accuses him of being skittish. He kisses her passionately and swings her around and lays her on the blanket, still kissing her. She tells him when he focuses on the kiss he really gets it right. Edmund kisses her again, while lying on top of her.

In the palace, an aide puts a jewelry case on the coffee table for Edmund. He tells him it is all of Princess Charlotte's jewels. Edmund dismisses him and goes through the box until he found a rope of pearls. He says there is finally someone who is worthy of them. "These were made for you, Beth."

Beth is sitting on the couch and sees an envelope with her name on it, on top of a gift box. She takes out a gardenia and breathes in deeply. Edmund comes in and tells her there are enough for her to bathe in if she would like. He tells her she is so involved in the box that she forgot the real present. Inside the box is another box. She opens it to see the pearls. He tells her they were his mother's. She says they are his and he jokes that people gossip when he wears them. He puts them on her neck and tells her they need to be worn on skin whose luster rivals their own. He drapes the pearls on her neck as he stands behind her arranging them on her neck. Ed touches her face. She thanks him for the gift and he says the pleasure was all his. He kisses her hand and leaves.

May comes in and says Tony has some cracked ribs but will be okay. She asks if Michelle wants something to eat. Danny encourages her to go with May. They talk about Tony and May asks Michelle if it makes her crazy when she doesn't know what is going on. Michelle says it is worse sometimes when you do know. May wonders if it was the same thugs from last week. She starts comparing it to a movie but Michelle stops her.

Frank comes in and asks if Danny heard anything. Frank says Reva is very upset. Danny says Reva is a lose cannon and her being anywhere near this situation is a big problem. Frank offers to take Michelle home and then will contact his sources. Michelle doesn't want to go but eventually agrees. Tony arrives with Ray. Michelle wonders what Tony is doing there. Tony asks Danny about Marah. Tony thinks Danny needs to hit back hard at Johnny Machado. Danny says what if it isn't him. Tony says if it is him, he (Tony) would like to deal with him. Reva is not satisfied with that and tells him she wants to know something now. Tony tries to tell her what happened but Reva doesn't want to hear from him she only wants to know where her daughter is. She tells them all that if Marah is hurt in any way they each will have to pay for it. Danny tells Reva that he is the best way to get Marah back and if Reva interferes it will only be worse on Marah. Reva tells him that she isn't leaving; she will be sticking to Danny like glue. He tells her that isn't a good idea. He tells her that the man he thinks has Marah wants something from him and he will have to be the one to negotiate with him. Reva asks who has her but Danny tells her that he isn't 100% yet. She asks when he will know. He tells her that is should be by that evening. She tells him that she will back off until then because she trusts Danny but after that and after Marah is home safely, she is going to tell the world how and why her little girl was abducted. She leaves. Danny yells at Tony for getting Marah into this mess, telling him that if he had listened to him and not seen her in the first place she would have never been taken. The phone rings and it is Carlos. Carlos confirms that it was Johnny Machado. Tony is angry and wants to kill Johnny. Danny sits him down and tells him that he has to listen to him. If he doesn't he will never see Marah again. He tells Tony that violence only begets violence and they do not need a blood bath on their hands. Danny tells Tony that he and Ray are going to take him home where he can't get into any more trouble.

At the Bauers':
Frank brings Michelle home. She is worried about Marah especially since Tony was badly beaten. Frank says most thugs draw the line at women and children. Michelle says she should have been the one kidnapped instead of Marah. Frank tries to cheer her and tells her she needs to think of the baby. Michelle tells Frank he can get back to work. Frank says he is staying put. Frank gets her some milk and tells her that he can do all his work from there until someone else gets there to watch her. Michelle is worried about Marah but Frank tells her that the guys who did this want Danny, not Marah. Michelle says the families wants Danny back on their terms, but she wants him back on hers and she won't give in. Frank says a part of him thought she and Danny wouldn't come back from NY. Michelle said she didn't want to. She tells Frank that Danny is a good person, not at all like Carmen. He just believes what his mother told him about himself. Michelle wants Danny back but Danny believes the kidnapping proves they shouldn't be together. Michelle wishes it could be just her, Danny and the baby. Frank reminds her of trying to help the FBI bring down the family a while back and says if they had succeeded then she would have her dream now.

Meta returns home and is upset about the kidnapping. She asks Michelle if she knows why it happened. Michelle says she isn't sure. She tells Meta about cooperating with the FBI. Meta tells her to take it one day at a time. Right now, Marah is the one who needs help.

In San Cristobel:
Beth is showing the pearls to Lillian and Susan. Lillian thinks the gift was inappropriate. Edmund comes in and says that Lillian might like them better if they were used to hang him from the rafters. Ed looks at the pearls and talks about them. His mother always wanted the pearls to go to the woman who had won his heart and admiration. Ed tells Susan he thinks his mother would admire Beth and would want her to have them. He says to give a gift like this with any expectation would cheapen them. Beth asks Ed if he is sure, and he insists. Beth puts them on and turns to look at Lillian. Ed says they need a party to show off the pearls. He wants to have an elegant dinner party to bid farewell to his American friends. Susan is interested. Ed says they will have the party with suitable escorts and it will be black tie. Lillian says they don't have anything to wear. Ed reminds them of Cinderella and says they have a fairy godmother on the island. Priscilla, a designer, will be happy to find clothes for them and will love the publicity. Susan is excited about being in the newspaper. Ed talks to Lillian and knows she doesn't approve; he tells her he likes her and wants her to lighten up. She smiles.

Priscilla comes in to see the ladies. She hugs Edmund and asks what the occasion is. Priscilla tells them she has brought clothing for them to try on. Edmund wants Lillian to go first. They all model clothes and seem to be having a great time. Afterwards, Susan is sad and tells Ed that every dress she liked, Beth and Lillian said no. The one they selected is boring. Ed says that the dress is beautiful. She is like a fine wine that needs to be held back but in the end, it will be worth the wait. She says she gets his point. He asks her what is really wrong. She says she was having such a good time she almost forgot about her dad. It is kind of hard not to feel guilty. Ed asks her if she feels she should never have another happy moment. He tells her that if her and her father switched placed wouldn't he want her to have a good time. Susan realizes he would. Ed says Jim loved her and wanted her to enjoy herself. Ed hugs Susan and kisses her forehead.

Lillian is talking to Beth. She admits to having a good time trying on all those clothes. She tells her that she is dazzled by all of this and Beth says she is starting to like Edmund. Lillian says she sees herself in Beth. There was a time when she wanted a man so much that she overlooked his faults. Beth resents the comparison to Bradley Raines. Lillian says there is a reason that Edmund has a bad reputation. Beth just wants to focus on the positive. Lillian wants to see Beth happy.

At the Lewises':

Noah defends Reva to Josh. Josh admits that he is upset and Olivia tries to calm him. Josh doesn't want to sit around and wait; he wants facts. Reva agrees. She says they need someone with a cool head and that person is Josh. Noah said he will make some calls and Olivia offers to talk to Danny. Reva doesn't want to do anything to jeopardize Marah. Shayne says Marah is tougher than she looks. Josh says Shayne is right and it is not the time for people to be lashing out. Reva agrees and starts to cry. Josh tells her they will get their girl back. They all hug while Olivia watches.

At the Santos house:
Tony, Ray and Danny see Abuela. She is embroidering. Ray wants to offer himself in exchange for Marah. Tony wants to go after Johnny Machado but Abuela tells him to sit down. Danny says if Tony uses violence he can kiss Marah goodbye. Danny says any hostile move will blow up on them. Ray agrees. Tony says he wants to make the punks know who they are disrespecting. Tony appeals to Abuela but she says her grandson doesn't respect her opinion so she is staying out of it. She sits and embroiders handkerchiefs for her grandsons. Danny wants to know if she has some advice. She is playing hard to get, but finally says she can help. Abuela says she can give them some information. Abuela knew Johnny Machado since he was a bagman. He is a hands-on man who wants to know all the details. He is directing the whole operation and would know where the girl is. Danny says that Marah is probably at a remote location and the kidnappers keep in touch by using a cell phone. Danny will demand to talk to Marah and maybe they can catch the frequency of the phone. They will monitor Johnny's calls and try to find Marah's location. Abuela thinks it is a good plan. The guys get together and set a scanner up. Tony is working on it while Danny goes to get the word out that he wants to talk to Machado. Tony gets on his knees and prays to St. Anthony to bring Marah back to him. Danny tells Ray they will need more than prayers. Ray tells him not to knock the power of prayer.

An artist is escorting Lillian. He shows up a bit late but is taken aback when he sees Lillian and tells her that he must have her in his bed or on his canvas or both. Lillian thinks they should at least be introduced before they consider either option. Ed does all the introductions and the Artist (Honore?) tells Lillian how beautiful her family is. He asks Lillian again about painting her but he hopes to paint her nude. Lillian tells him that she has to decline since they are leaving in the morning. Ed tells Honore not to frighten Lillian away. Honore invites Lillian for a walk and she accepts. Beth tells Ed that she hasn't seen her mom smile like that in many years and thanks him. She says that every woman needs to feel adored but Ed knows that all to well. She tells him that she wishes she could stay but she has a life back in Springfield that she has to get back to. She mentions that her trip home need not be a quick one. Ed mentions sailing home and she agrees to so they can spend more time together.

Everyone sits down from a formal dinner. Honore tells them that he has no appetite since Lillian is leaving. Lillian tells him she is sure he will get over it. Ed mentions that they can take the yacht out and then fly the rest of the way. Lillian tells him she gets seasick and she and the kids will take a plane out. Ed acts disappointed but tells them that he and Beth will have to rough it alone and they can join them next time. Ed raises his glass and toasts Susan. Honore takes a napkin and draws a little picture and signs it. He hands it to Lillian as a reminder of him.

Everyone is leaving and Honore and Lt. Hogan say goodnight to their dates. Beth thinks the whole evening went by too quickly. Lillian thanks Ed for the wonderful evening and she retires to her room. The kids go up to their rooms too and Beth and Ed are left alone. Music starts playing and Ed tells Beth he would like to dance. They waltz. They end the dance with a kiss.

At the Carriage House:
Holly asks Blake about her book. She says it is a very dark love story. Holly wonders if Selena is okay wherever she is. Holly notices a paper on the desk and Blake tries to hide it. Blake finally admits that she is an ordained minister in the Church of Karma. She tells her that she has a plan to become Mrs. Ross Marler again. Holly asks if it is legal and Blake says in all 50 states. She checked it out. Holly thinks it is an outrageous idea but that it just could work. Blake says she is just trying to get Ross to sign the paper. She says it is a minor technicality but it is something she feels she needs. Ross walks in and asks what they are talking about. Blake tries to evade the question and offers Ross some cheese puffs. Holly tells Blake about her 'date' with Buzz next week. They are interrupted by Phil who shows up ringing the doorbell. Phil tells Ross he needs a reality check and hopes he will listen to him. Ross invites him in and Blake and Holly go into the kitchen to chat after inviting Phil to dinner.

Phil and Ross sit down on the couch. Phil says he has been thinking about what Ross said and realizes that there is a lot of truth in it. Phil doesn't like to accept failure but he knows he has screwed up another marriage. Ross says he tried very hard. Phil says he isn't sure. He kept talking to Beth even though he knew it would upset his wife. He wonders if he may have wanted Harley to react the way she did. Phil says his only chance was to tell Harley about the plane right away but instead he listened to Beth and didn't come clean until circumstances forced him to. By then it was too late. He tried but he knew that he couldn't fix it. Ross says Phil is talking like he is the only one who could save that marriage. Ross reminds him it takes two people. Ross says that people can forgive infidelity, he (Ross) has. Phil says he wouldn't have forgiven Harley so how can he expect Harley to forgive him? Ross asks Phil about him and Beth. Phil says Beth was his first love and they share a strong connection with the kids and all. Ross asks if they could get back together. Phil says what they shared in the past is not there anymore. Ross wonders if he will let Beth move on. Phil says he will as long as it isn't with Edmund. Ross says he shouldn't interfere and reminds him he had issues with Jim, who was a good man. Ross tells Phil that from Beth's viewpoint, Edmund is similar to Phil. If Phil really cares about Beth's welfare he will be careful how he reacts to Edmund. He doesn't want to come across as territorial. The more he objects to Edmund the more he will push Beth toward him. Phil tells Ross he thinks he is right. It will take all the self-control he can muster to deal with Edmund. Phil lists all the people Ed has hurt. He thinks Ed is victimizing Beth. He wants to protect his children without appearing jealous or territorial.

At the Santos Compound:

She hands the phone to Danny; it is Johnny Machado. Danny taps Tony on the shoulder to tap the frequency. Danny tells Johnny they got the wrong girl. Johnny thought she was Tony's girlfriend. He tells Danny that he doesn't want to hurt her, just talk to Danny. He asks for a meeting. Tony is listening on the scanner. Danny says he will meet with Johnny after he talks to Marah to make sure she is safe. He hangs up. Tony and Ray wonder if Marah is all right and Danny says he thinks so. Marah says "Tony?" Danny tells Marah it is Danny. She asks about Tony and was worried he was killed. Danny reassures her. Tony grabs the phone and asks how she is. He tells her they will get her out of there and to be brave. He wants her to answer yes or no to his questions. He wants her to tell him where she is on one breath. She tries to say it's a small room that echoes, but the call is cut off. They got her on the scanner. Danny tells Tony to monitor the frequency and assures him they will get her back.

In San Cristobel:
Dax is dressed for fencing when Richard returns. Richard says as bad as sharing a palace with Edmund it, sitting at sea with only his thoughts is worse. He tells Dax how he went out in the yacht and could still see SC and he was left pondering the implications of what has happened and the effect it may have on the country. Dax tells him that they still have time and the results of the paternity test will not be back until late that evening or maybe even the next day. Dax tells Richard that Edmund is planning on taking the yacht on a slow cruise back to the states with Mrs. LeMay. Richard comments on fast a worker Edmund is. Dax thinks Richard show try to keep Edmund in the country. Richard holds an epee and tells Dax that Edmund is free to leave. He can always bring him back and he doesn't want to make Edmund suspect anything. Edmund comes in clad in fencing wear as well. He welcomes Richard back. Richard tells him that he knew he wanted the yacht and would hate to interfere with his social life. Edmund thinks Richard is cranky because he doesn't have a social life. Edmund says the official story is that Cassie is in seclusion but he wonders if the truth is really that Richard is in exclusion? Richard takes the sword to Edmund's throat and says, "Allow me to remind you of something." Richard tells Edmund that when he refers to Cassie, he should refer to her as 'Her Royal Highness'. Richard is surprised that Edmund, who is such a stickler for protocol, should forget her title. Edmund is shocked and apologizes. Richard tells Edmund he is a bachelor and couldn't understand the needs of a pregnant wife. Richard pities Beth and says he will have the yacht prepared for their "excursion". Richard hands the sword to Dax and says the button has come off. He walks out. Edmund tells Dax Richard is in a bad mood. Susan comes in and is upset that she has to return to SF. She is interested in fencing but thinks girls don't get to fence. Edmund wants her to give it a try. She leaves and comes back in dressed for fencing and Edmund shows her how to hold the epee while Dax observes. He tells her the object is to poke the other person without getting poked. Edmund compares fencing to dance. Susan likes it but thinks it is scary. Edmund tells her she has as much right as any boy to defend herself. Susan puts on her mask and they start the fencing lesson. Edmund tries to explain that in fencing the mind needs to be as sharp as the body. He continues to teach her as Dax observes. Susan doesn't think she is good at this but Edmund encourages her. He reminds her about Machiavelli and Cousin Bette. He tells her the more you believe in yourself, the more you can do. Susan hits Edmund on his forehead and wounds him. She drops her epee and is very upset. Edmund tells her it was his fault and advises her never to drop her weapon. Dax sees Richard in the hall and asks him what is wrong. Richard says it disturbs him that Edmund can harbor two distinct hearts: one so very good and one of pure evil.

Beth is kissing little James goodbye when Lillian comes to the courtyard with Susan. They are going to the airport. Lillian says the children will be fine and it will be good for Beth to relax with no responsibilities. Lillian thanks Edmund for a wonderful vacation. Susan doesn't want to leave but Edmund assures her she will be back. She asks how his head feels. He reminds her to keep reading. Susan kisses Beth and Edmund. Beth tells her she will see her soon. Edmund tells Beth not to make promises she can't keep. He may keep the yacht out for months stopping at every port and cove they pass. Beth wonders what they would do during all that time.

Frank asks David to trust him; he can't share the details for now. Frank asks Michelle about Johnny Machado and tells her that Danny has a meeting with him. Michelle is worried that Danny might be set up and wants Frank to protect him.
Michelle gets some breakfast for Frank but asks him to take the gun off the table. Frank asks if guns aren't like silverware in the Santos family. Michelle says she married a man and not the family. If things work out, maybe Danny won't be in the family for long. Frank wants to know what she means but Michelle evades the question. Frank asks Michelle if Harley can come over, since it is his birthday. She was going to give him a party. Michelle says she will be glad to give him a party.
She gets some balloons and crepe paper out and is decorating the kitchen. She says on her next birthday she will have Danny and her baby with her and everything will be perfect. Harley arrives with groceries and notices Frank's gun. She wonders why the party was moved there. He tells her not to ask any questions. Harley asks Michelle why she isn't saying anything.

At the Santos Compound:
Danny and Tony are listening to Johnny's conversations on the scanner. Tony tries to run out when he hears something about the lighthouse. Danny tries to stop him and Ray agrees. Danny thinks he and Marah will both get shot. The only way to get Marah back alive is to keep the police and the guns out of it. The phone rings. Frank tells Danny they have a problem; Danny has been holding out on him. Danny tells Frank he knows everything Danny knows. Frank mentions the meeting with Johnny. Danny says he was planning on filling him in once he had more info. Frank asks questions about Marah and is not buying Danny's story. Frank is threatening a SWAT team and tells Danny he can't promise him anything unless Danny tells Frank everything. Frank wants 45 minutes notice to get the police in place. Danny tells Ray and Tony that Frank knows about the meeting. Danny decides to get Marah out first before the meeting and the police arrive. Tony says he knows how they can get Marah out. He tells them about Sam and Danny calls him.

Sam arrives at the Santos house. He tells Tony this was bound to happen to Marah and wonders why he couldn't leave her alone. Tony and Sam are yelling at each other and Ray and Danny try to break it up and get to the point. Danny finally asks Sam if he can climb the lighthouse. Sam says he can and asks if that is where Marah is being held. He asks why they don't call the police. Danny says it will make things worse. He explains that they have to get Marah out of the lighthouse by 11 PM. He asks if Sam can get her out without being seen. Tony wants to come but Sam says he has to do it alone. Ray reminds Tony of his broken ribs. Danny says the guys have to put aside their differences or the plan is off. They both agree.

Back at Olivia's:
Olivia asks Josh if he is sleepy, but he says he is numb. He is worried about things he has said and things he shouldn't have said. Josh says he should have tried harder to keep Marah from Tony. Olivia says kids are kids and you can't control them. They have to learn from their own mistakes.

Sam arrives home and everyone is in bed. He goes in his room and tries to sneak out with his climbing gear. Olivia comes out of the bedroom. She tells him he isn't going climbing. Sam has to tell her he is doing it to save Marah. He wants to help. Olivia tells him she can't let him do this and will call the police. Sam says mobsters have Marah and she has to keep his secret. Olivia doesn't want Sam to risk his life. Sam insists and says both he and Marah will wind up dead if Olivia tells anyone. She reluctantly lets him leave.

Olivia is at the window in her robe when Josh comes out of the bedroom and up behind her. He thanks her for letting him sleep. She is looking at the lighthouse. Josh says it is supposed to be the coldest night of the year and he wouldn't want to be stuck out there.

Sam arrives at the lighthouse and Ray hands him a rope. Danny and Tony are with him. Sam ties the rope around him and starts to free climb.
