Brief Character History

Robin arrived in Port Charles with her mother, Anna Devane, and grandmother, Filomena, in 1985 when she was seven years old. At the time, Robert Scorpio was unaware that he had even fathered a child. It didn't take long for her to become the apple of her father's eye. Anna was very close to her stepfather, Duke Lavery, and his death devastated her.

In 1990 Robin found a crystal on Spoon Island and showed it on a television program that her parents' archenemy, Cesar Faison, was watching, and he wanted the crystal. One night, the crystal lit up Robin's room, and Casey, an alien from Lumina, appeared. Robin's mother decided to help Casey find his way back home and consequently Faison kidnapped Anna, Robin, and Casey. Robert rescued them. Eventually, Robin's parents were reunited, and the Scorpio family moved into the old Webber house.

In 1992, Faison kidnapped Anna, and Robert went after her, leaving his brother, Mac, as guardian to Robin. There was a boat explosion, and it was assumed that Robert, Anna, and Faison were all killed. It took nearly ten years for Robin to learn that her mother was alive.

Robin went to work for a teen hotline and had a crush on Jason Quartermaine, who only had eyes for Karen Wexler. Karen eventually ended up with Jagger Cates, who had a rebellious brother, Stone, who was working for mobster Sonny Corinthos.

Robin then developed a crush on Stone, which upset Mac immensely. Stone told Robin he had been tested for AIDS and that he had tested negative. He never followed up with the test six months later. When Robin and Stone first became intimate, they used protection. However, over time, they did engage in unprotected sex. It was eventually learned that Stone had full-blown AIDS.

Stone was terrified to tell Robin about his diagnosis. However, at one point when Stone was shot, his blood got all over Robin and he ended up telling her that he had AIDS. Robin loved Stone and taught him many things before his death. Robin was tested for HIV, and the first time, she was negative, however when she had the follow-up test, she tested positive. She didn't want to tell Stone, as he was on his deathbed, but decided there had never been any secrets in life between them. So, somewhat reluctantly, she told him.

After Stone died, Robin befriended the brain-damaged Jason Quartermaine Morgan, and they eventually became lovers. However, when they were shot at in her house and Jason was in the hospital, Robin realized she couldn't bear to lose another person that she loved and gave him an ultimatum: either he quit working for Sonny, or she would leave to go to school in Paris and their relationship would be over. Jason opted to continue working for Sonny, as he felt that he only placed Robin in danger. Robin then left for Paris.

Robin returned in the fall of 1997 at the request of Jasper "Jax" Jacks, to help Brenda recover from her breakdown at the loss of Sonny. Once Robin returned to Port Charles, though, she realized that she did not want to go back to Paris. She missed her family and friends, but most of all, she missed Jason. The two reunited, and -- much to her Uncle Mac's dismay -- Robin decided to drop out of Yale University and move in with Jason.

Robin befriended Nikolas Cassadine, sharing a common bond of missing parents and having to age much earlier than they might have wished. However, his feelings for her were always stronger than hers for him. In early 1998, she learned that her old friend Tony Jones had kidnapped Jason's son, Michael. Tony kidnapped her, and, unable to get her HIV medication, Robin nearly died before Jason rescued her. She continued to support Tony, even testifying for him at his kidnapping trial; he and Alan were two of the few people Robin shared warm goodbyes with as she left town.

When Jason and Robin eventually reunited, they first lived in his penthouse, then they moved into Brenda's old cottage with Michael. Then Carly got out of the mental hospital and moved in as well. Robin and Carly did not get along, and soon Robin had endured enough. She broke up with Jason and planned to return to Paris. After extreme taunting from Carly, Robin told A.J. that he was really Michael's father. She told Jason she wanted to stop his pain and stop his dependency on Michael, but Jason and Sonny took it as a huge betrayal. Jason and Robin met a final time at their bridge, and he told her it would be far less painful if he never had to see her face again. She then left town.

In 2000, she returned to speak at the Nurses Ball. Her friendly greeting to Sonny turned sour after she realized he and Carly were involved. Robin and Carly viciously argued, and Robin told Sonny she had lost all respect for him.

In 2001, Robin went to Pine Valley when she learned her presumed-dead mother, Anna, was alive. An amnesiac Anna had a memory flash of her daughter, and they tearfully reunited. Robin met Anna's twin sister, Alex. Robin learned Anna had no memory of whether Robert was alive or dead; Anna learned Robin was studying to be a doctor, and that Robin was HIV-positive. Robin wanted Anna to return to Paris with her, but Anna had to stay in hiding because of people who were trying to kill her. Robin angrily wondered why Anna kept returning to Robin's life, only to leave her each time. They made up, and Anna promised to see her daughter as soon as the danger passed. Robin gave her mother a bracelet, they embraced, and Robin returned to Paris.

Robin was briefly mentioned in January of 2003 when her stepfather, Dr. David Hayward, called her up. Robin spoke with Anna and decided to accompany Anna while Anna traveled to Switzerland to seek care for problems she was having with her pregnancy. In September of 2003, Anna left Pine Valley to see Robin in Paris.

Robin returned to Port Charles in the summer of 2004 to attend Lila Quartermaine's funeral. She ran into various old and new faces, including Courtney, Brook Lyn, Jax, and Alan, then finally Jason himself. She discussed all the time she was spending with her mother in Europe and that she was glad to see he was spending time with the Quartermaines. Jason thanked her for making him realize how important family was. A peace seemed to settle between them, a final way of saying goodbye, as they walked into the church to say goodbye to a woman they had both loved and respected.

In 2005, Robin was working as a doctor in Paris when she was contacted in regards to her work with experimental memory drugs. The people in Port Charles were hoping she would have a drug that could help Jason. Robin agreed to go home briefly to treat Jason. Her biggest problem was that she had never stopped loving him.

Robin and Jason remained friends, and Robin settled into her position as a doctor. She began spending time with friends Dr. Kelly Lee, Dr. Lainey Winters, and Elizabeth Webber. The friends spent many hours bonding over tequila shots at Jake's after work. There was one colleague Robin had a difficult time with, a doctor named Patrick Drake. His hot-shot attitude and playboy personality clashed with Robin's serious nature. Their back-and-forth banter and flirtation took a serious turn toward romance and understanding in 2006 when Patrick was accidentally exposed to HIV.

Although Patrick did not contract HIV, the experience bonded Patrick and Robin together, and they became romantically involved. Soon after, Jerry Jacks shot Robin during the Metro Court hostage crisis, and she was in critical condition. This experience deepened Patrick and Robin's relationship. Although still in love with one another, they broke up over the issue of having a family; Robin was ready, but Patrick wasn't sure if fatherhood was something he wanted. During this break, Robin watched Patrick date Nurse Leyla Mir.

In the meantime, Robin decided to become a mother, and began asking friends, including Jasper Jax, Lucky Spencer, and Nikolas Cassadine, to be a sperm donor. When they all turned her down, Robin's next move was to look into using a donor from a sperm bank. Robin's cousin Georgie Jones was murdered by the Text Message Killer, Diego Alcazar. In her grieving, Robin turned to former boyfriend Patrick for a night of comfort, and baby Emma was conceived. Still not convinced Patrick could ever settle down, Robin told Patrick a sperm donor had fathered the baby.

Eventually Robin admitted Patrick was the father of their child but claimed she would raise the child on her own. Patrick had a chance of heart about becoming a parent and asked Robin to marry him so they could be a family. Robin turned down the proposal because she believed Patrick would be bored with marriage and fatherhood after the novelty wore off. She remained adamant that Patrick did not truly want to be a father even after he filed a petition for joint custody of their unborn child. Prior to the hearing, Robin changed her mind and agreed to give Patrick a chance to be the father and husband he claimed he could be.

Robin made plans to marry Patrick before their daughter arrived but she went into labor during the ceremony. Robin gave birth to a healthy baby girl and she and Patrick named her Emma. Robin was relieved to learn that Emma had not contracted HIV. After Robin received the good news about Emma's health, her own health declined and she lost consciousness. Her family visited her and begged her to recover so she could care for her new baby and she did make a full recovery. After Emma's birth and Robin's health scare, Robin and Patrick remained focused on their new family and they were married immediately.

Robin began 2009 as a new bride and a new mother but motherhood did not come as naturally to her as she had expected. She struggled to bond with her daughter and brushed off anyone that suggested she might have post-partum depression. Patrick was concerned about both Robin and Emma and tried numerous times to convince Robin to seek treatment for post-partum depression. She refused and both she and Patrick felt the strain in their marriage.

At one point, Robin left town without telling anyone where she was headed. She pretended to be a childless single woman and picked up a man in a bar. She realized what she was doing and returned home. Soon after, her friends and family held an intervention and she eventually recognized that she needed medical treatment to deal with the post-partum depression.

Once Robin's post-partum depression was under control, she started bonding with her daughter. The intense feelings she had for Emma brought back her memories of Stone and the life they had planned to share together. She also gained a new colleague at the hospital, Patrick's college girlfriend Lisa Niles. Robin was wary of Lisa's interest in her husband, but she did not let that stop her from heading to Africa to help AIDS victims. Since Robin had just recovered from post-partum, Patrick was not thrilled she was leaving. While Robin was in Africa, Patrick had a one-night stand with Lisa. When Robin returned home shortly after the affair, Patrick kept his indiscretion a secret. Robin eventually found out and moved back home to her Uncle Mac's house.

Even though Robin had moved out, Patrick maintained that he loved his wife and worked to win her back. Lisa had planned for Patrick to forget Robin and move on with her but Patrick remained committed to working on his marriage. Lisa went after Robin instead and made it appear as though Robin was mentally unstable. Robin accused Lisa of various acts such as boiling Emma's favorite toy or breaking into her work locker. There was never any actual proof of Lisa's guilt, only Robin's word against Lisa's.

Patrick believed Lisa was setting Robin up, especially after Lisa took Emma on a brief outing without their permission. Patrick also immediately suspected Lisa's involvement when Robin went missing. Robin claimed Lisa had drugged her and taken her to an abandoned cabin in the woods. She managed to escape and fell into a well. She was trapped until Patrick rescued her. Although Patrick and Robin both knew Lisa was guilty, there was no proof of her wrong-doing.

While Patrick and Robin dealt with Lisa, Patrick continued to ask Robin for another chance to make their marriage work, even after she took Emma and moved in with her Uncle Mac. She agreed to try marriage counseling but she was not sure she could ever trust him again. Robin changed her mind and decided reconcile with Patrick when she was reminded how short life can be when Elizabeth Webber's son Jake died unexpectedly. Robin invited Patrick to move back home and they resumed married life, much to Lisa's dismay. Lisa planted a listening device inside Robin and Patrick's home and she created a paper trail that made it look like Patrick was having an affair with her. Lisa overheard a conversation between Patrick and Robin that inspired her to research gas leaks.

Lisa sneaked inside the Scorpio-Drake home and started a gas leak. She made a noise to lure Robin to the basement and trapped her inside. Lisa informed Robin she would be dead within in the hour and Patrick would be accused of the crime. Instead, Robin and Patrick turned the tables on Lisa and recorded her confession to kill Robin. Shortly after, the police arrived and she was taken to Shadybrook.

After Lisa was locked up, Robin and Patrick hoped to move past everything that Lisa had put them through but Lisa escaped. She disguised herself and showed up at the hospital armed with a gun and a syringe. Lisa held Steve Webber, Maxie, Patrick and Robin hostage in a hospital conference room and held her own version of a trial in which she recalled all the crimes that had been committed against her. Jason Morgan and Detective Dante Falconeri broke into the room to rescue everyone. In the chaos, Lisa grabbed Robin and held the syringe to her neck. A struggle broke out and Lisa injected the syringe of drain cleaner into herself and lapsed into a coma.

Both Patrick and Robin believed that Lisa was out of their lives forever and they focused on getting their marriage back on track. Robin was also named Chief of Staff at the hospital and she and Patrick often engaged in heated discussions about hospital policies. Patrick's brother Matt also received recognition at the hospital when his cancer research was published. Robin and Patrick made plans to celebrate Matt's accomplishment by taking him out on a boat. Matt invited Elizabeth as his guest, and Steve and Olivia Falconeri also joined them.

One uninvited guest also joined the party on the boat. Unbeknownst to the party guests, Anthony Zacchara had arranged for Lisa to be injected with numerous drugs to pull her out of her coma. When Lisa emerged, she sneaked onto the boat and placed herself in a position to make a move against Robin and Patrick. Lisa drugged Patrick and tied him to a bed and she chloroformed Robin when she entered the room. Lisa claimed that since Patrick had such great love for his wife they should share everything, including Robin's HIV and she planned to inject Robin's blood into Patrick.

Although Robin was tied to a chair, she managed to free herself and attacked Lisa. Once Lisa realized Robin was free, she took off and Robin chased after her with the syringe of her blood. The women fought and Lisa shoved Robin to the ground and escaped. When Patrick found Robin, her arm was bleeding and she was unable to recall the last moments of her encounter with Lisa. The police arrived and searched the boat for Lisa, although she was nowhere to be found. She was found dead and a murder investigation began.

Robin's Uncle Mac was forced to consider both Robin and Patrick suspects in Lisa's murder since they were both present on the boat and each had a reason to want Lisa dead. The hospital board replaced Robin as Chief of Staff due to her status as a murder suspect and Robin accepted the board's decision without a fight.

Patrick was surprised by Robin's reaction and she became very secretive and emotional about an HIV patient she was treating. Robin revealed that the patient's HIV viral load had increased and the patient's body was no longer receptive to the common drug protocols. Robin did not tell her husband that she was the patient.

Robin continued to keep her medical condition a secret from her husband but she confided in her friends Jason and Elizabeth. Robin asked Jason to help her disappear so she could spare Patrick and Emma the pain of watching AIDS slowly take her life. Jason listened to Robin but he refused to be a part of her plan and insisted that she needed to explore all of her options and trust in the love her husband felt for her. Robin agreed to seek further advice regarding her condition and she made plans to meet with a specialist out of town. Before she left, she shared her secret with Elizabeth and asked her friend to take her place as Patrick's wife and Emma's mother.

Despite Robin's pleas, Elizabeth refused to go along with Robin's plan to step into her life. Elizabeth encouraged Robin to fight the HIV with Patrick by her side. While Robin was out of town, Elizabeth broke her promise and told Patrick about Robin's HIV status. When Robin returned home, she and Patrick discussed her health and Patrick vowed to remain by her side. Robin started a new drug therapy and she and Patrick were pleased to learn that her viral loads were stable again and they focused on their plans for the future, which included building a home.

As Robin received good news about her health, the same was not true for Jason. He experienced several episodes of rage and uncontrollable fist clenching that Robin and Patrick determined to be of neurological causes. His best chance for survival was Robin. She needed to create a drug therapy for him as soon as possible. Her mother arrived in town for a visit around the same time and helped care for Emma while Robin put in extra time in the lab.

Robin took a break from her work when Maxie visited her and did not notice that Maxie's purse strap caught on a gas valve and started a leak when she left the lab to catch up with her mother and daughter. Patrick entered the lab to find Robin and was overcome by the noxious fumes and passed out. Robin rescued Patrick and performed CPR on him. After Patrick was revived, Robin went back into the lab to retrieve Jason's treatment. In her haste, she accidentally knocked over a beak and the lab burst into flames. The automatic doors trapped her inside but she was able to pass Jason's medication through to Patrick. She told her husband she loved him and told him to take good care of their daughter. Patrick ran to get help but by the time the doors were opened, Robin was dead.

The rescue personnel at the scene announced that Robin's body had been burned beyond recognition. Her family and friends held a funeral and mourned her death unaware that Robin was still alive. She awoke in a hospital room that did not look familiar to her and she did not know how she got there. She tried to leave but she was locked in the room. Robin remembered the explosion and inquired about Patrick and Emma. A nurse responded that Robin did not need to worry and issued Robin a sedative. While Robin slept, the nurse assured someone that Robin was unaware of the identity of her captor.

Over the following few months, Robin was routinely sedated and strapped to a hospital bed in a location that she did not recognize. When she coherent, she begged the attending nurse to reunite her with her husband and daughter to no avail. Robin was also subjected to electroshock treatment although she did not consent to it. After the treatment, Robin seemed to be catatonic while Dr. Ewen Keenan checked on her. He apologized for keeping her away from her family while they grieved her death but explained that there was no other option for her.

Ewen also told Robin that she was headed to a care facility in Switzerland to ensure that no one would locate her. After Ewen made the arrangements, he consulted with Jerry Jacks and the men revealed that they had worked together to fake Robin's death after the lab explosion. Before Robin was spirited away, she dropped a brochure about the Swiss clinic on the floor in hopes that her parents would be able to find her.

Months later, Robin was thrilled when her stepfather "Duke Lavery" entered her room at the clinic. He had been presumed deceased for years and she was overjoyed to see him. Robin's joy was short-lived after she realized that "Duke" was actually Cesar Faison disguised as Duke. Robin warned Faison that her mother would see through his act just as she had but in exchange for her freedom, she would help him reveal himself to Anna. Faison refused the offer but Robin had hope once again of a rescue a few weeks later when her father walked into her room. However, he was injected with a neurotoxin and lapsed into a coma.

Robin was also injected with an unknown substance and was rendered unconscious. When she regained consciousness, she realized she was in a new location and being held by Jerry Jacks. The new location was revealed to be Cassadine Island and Robin was forced to use her medical expertise to develop a cure for Polonium 210 poisoning. Jerry had been poisoned with the deadly toxin and demanded that Robin cure him in exchange for her freedom. Robin became more determined than ever to return to her family after Jerry and Liesl Obrecht, an associate of both Jerry and Faison, informed her that Patrick had moved on with a woman named Sabrina and falsely claimed that Patrick had fathered a child with Liesl's daughter Britt.

Liesl kidnapped Britt's child and broke Faison out of prison. She brought them both to Cassadine Island. Nikolas and Britt arrived on the island in search of the child and Nikolas accidently happened upon Robin. He rescued her from the lab where Jerry held her captive and her parents followed Liesl's trail and arrived shortly after. However, Jerry turned the tables on Anna and Robert and locked them in the lab before they were reunited with their daughter. Robin demanded that Jerry free her parents and he agreed in exchange for the Polonium cure, which currently resided in the body of Luke Spencer back in Port Charles. Robin agreed to remain hidden at Wyndemere while Liesl and Faison kept watch over her and helped her obtain Luke Spencer's blood. Upon her arrival back in Port Charles, Robin was stunned with the news that Faison had killed Jason and that Patrick was engaged to Sabrina.

As Robin had hoped, Anna and Robert rescued her and she learned that Duke Lavery was also alive. After a joyous reunion with her parents, she took off to find Patrick in hopes of reaching him before he married Sabrina. When Robin arrived at the church, she witnessed Patrick and Sabrina exchange vows and she realized that her husband had moved on. She chose not to interrupt the wedding. However, Emma spotted Robin and ran into her mother's arms. Patrick was stunned to see his wife and they engaged in a passionate kiss. He did not finish his wedding to Sabrina but remained conflicted over his feelings for the two women.

Eventually Patrick chose Robin instead of Sabrina even after Sabrina revealed that she was pregnant with his child. While Robin adjusted to her life after captivity, Victor Cassadine approached her with an ultimatum. He revealed that Jason Morgan was alive in a cryogenic stasis in addition to two of his Cassadine relatives. Robin could secretly leave her family to revive Jason and the others or she could remain in Port Charles. However if Robin refused to provide her medical expertise, Jason's life would be sacrificed.

Robin was torn by Victor's ultimatum but chose to honor her friendship to Jason. She claimed that her medical skills were needed in Africa but Patrick saw through her ruse. Robin told Patrick the truth and asked him to support the difficult position she was in. He begged Robin to put their family first but she remained adamant in her decision. Robin said a tearful goodbye to her family and friends and left Port Charles with Victor. He took her to Jason at the Crichton-Clark Facility in Scarsdale, New York.

Although Robin's location was kept secret from her family, she was able to speak with Patrick and Emma often. She knew that her husband and daughter had been involved in a car accident but she was unable to go to them. The accident caused Patrick's child with Sabrina to be born prematurely and his infant died. Patrick was angry with Robin over her absence in his time of grief.

When Patrick accidentally ran into Robin at the Crichton-Clark Facility while helping Sam with a case, Robin instructed him to leave immediately. Patrick barged into her lab in hopes of seeing Jason, the man that Robin had chosen over their family. Robin lied to Patrick and told him that Jason was dead but she would remain at the clinic to complete her work. Patrick was furious with her choice and announced his plans to divorce her. After he left, Victor admitted that he had caused the car accident and reminded Robin that he could harm her family if she disobeyed him. Then Victor injected Jason with Robin's latest serum and he awoke from his cryogenic stasis. Robin was overjoyed but Victor separated Robin from Jason before they shared a reunion.

As Robin had hoped, Jason escaped and came to her rescue but they were both captured by Helena Cassadine. Helena threatened Robin's family and forced her to tell Patrick that she planned to live her life in Paris away from her family. While Robin was held as Helena's captive and taken out of the country, she hoped that Jason had gotten away.
