Sonny and Emily start to make love in the guest house. Michael and Morgan decide to go in after finding where the spare key is kept. Just as they unlock the door, Max finds the kids and tells them they shouldn't use the spare key for anything except an emergency. He shuts the door and takes the kids back to the house. Sonny and Emily realize they have to be even more careful about seeing each other. After Emily leaves, Carly comes home and tells Sonny that Michael told her about what happened. Sonny thinks she is talking about the kids almost finding he and Emily making love, but instead she is talking about Sonny telling Michael that his mother would pick him up. Carly has been so preoccupied with little John that she forgets her other commitments. She took Jax to dinner at Kelly's while they were waiting for John's tests to come back. She's trying to convince Jax to move in to the house next to her.

At the hospital, Monica invites Emily on a vacation to a spa. Emily accepts, but then Sonny calls and wants Emily to go to the island with him. Carly walks in to hear the tail end of Emily's conversation and asks where she is going and who she is going with. Monica interrupts and says that she and Emily are going away to a spa.

Sam and Alexis run into each other at the cemetery. They start to fight, but Jason and Ric break the pair up. Jason warns Ric to keep Alexis away from Sam. When Sam and Jason get back to the penthouse, Sam tells Jason that she wants to try to find her birth mother. Jason agrees to have one of his associate's help her. Back at Ric and Alexis' place, they also go searching for her long lost daughter. They go searching for the birth certificate but can't find one for May 11, 1980, the day Alexis gave birth. She starts to grow discouraged, but then decides to start looking at different clinic's in that area to see if they reported any births on that date.

Nikolas finds Mike at the hospital and apologizes to him for his behavior at Courtney's memorial service. He tells him that he would like to scatter Courtney's ashes at sea, and Mike thinks that is a great idea. He wants Jax to agree, though, before he will allow it. After Mike leaves, Liz runs into Nikolas. She sees how distraught he is, but he won't allow her to help him. Liz tries to get Emily to help, but Emily tells her that Nikolas no longer listens to her or needs her. When Nikolas finally finds Jax, he asks him for approval to scatter Courtney's ashes at sea. Jax tells him that he wants to bury her in a burial plot with a tombstone. He wants to be able to take his son somewhere to talk to his mother when he is older. Nikolas is furious and decides to lie to Mike to get his approval for the scattering of the ashes at sea. Mike comments how nice it is that he and Jax came together after Courtney's death.

Liz comes into the NICU and tells Jax that she just found out Courtney's ashes were sent to Nikolas. Jax decides to confront Nikolas about stealing Courtney's ashes and meets him down at the peer. They both start yelling at each other, until Carly intervenes. Carly had been at the hospital to take the boys to see baby John. When she got there, Liz told her what was going on so Carly decided to find the two men. She tells them that if Courtney were alive she would kick both of their butts. Carly ends up convincing Jax to allow Nikolas to scatter the ashes in the ocean. Back at the hospital, Jax vows to baby John that he will be a good father. He tells him that he made the best decision he could because he didn't want the Cassadines to ruin him, too.

Emily makes up a story about a friend of hers wanting her to go to the spa with her in order to let Monica down gently. Monica knows what is going on, and tells her that it's common for long lost friends to come around when you're trying to sneak away with a man. Emily decides to go away with Sonny anyway. She goes home and packs her things and goes back to Sonny's. She watches through the window as Sonny fights with Janine, Courtney's mother. Janine has come for money, because all of Courtney's estate went to her foundation. Sonny refuses, until Janine tells him she will ruin Mike by getting him back into gambling. Sonny throws money at Janine and gets her to leave. When he looks up, he sees that Emily was there. He starts to cancel their plans to go away because he thinks she is scared of him. She assures him that she loses her temper, too, and gets him to tell her what happened. They board the plane and Emily asks how long it takes to get to the island. Sonny tells her that he wants to take Emily somewhere where they can make their own memories. The island has too many bad memories, and he doesn't want to take her there. She decides to let him surprise her with their destination. Sonny tells her that only Max knows where they are going and he has promised to keep it a secret. Meanwhile, Carly comes into Sonny's house to try to get him to stop his plans to go away. Max tells her that he has already left. When she leaves, Max leans his head against the door in frustration for lying to Carly.

Ric and Alexis head to the clinic where Alexis gave birth in hopes of obtaining some information about her child. Although sympathetic, the clinic's director refuses to release any information about the adoption to Alexis. Ric manages to escape saying he needs to make an important call and then comes back in time to thank the director and leave with Alexis. When they get outside, Ric tells her that he sneaked into the records office and found out the name of the law firm that handled the adoption.

At Kelly's, Alcazar tries to convince Skye that she needs to go to the doctor. She's already getting attached to the baby and doesn't want to hear a doctor tell her she may not be able to have a successful pregnancy. She is also scared at how fast their relationship is moving. Alcazar assures her that he cares for her and is not just doing all this because it's the right thing to do. Alcazar hands her the phone and she calls the doctor to make an appointment, telling the receptionist that the father will be accompanying her.

Jason's associate, Stan, comes back with not very promising news about his search for her birth mother. He found three girls born on May 10, 1980, and none of them were adopted. Jason tells him to start searching for private adoptions. Stan says it will be harder, but he will give it a shot. Sam notices that Jason went shopping and wonders what he bought. He tells her to go upstairs while he gets candles and wine set up for them downstairs. He proposes to her again and asks her to go off to Hawaii with him. She tells him that she can't do that right now.

Alexis and Ric hit a dead end with Mikos' attorney who handled the adoption. Ric steps away and makes a phone call. He ends up calling a former classmate at Harvard who now works at the law firm. When they meet up, Ric introduces Alexis as his cousin Francine. Ric flirts with Claire and asks her out for a drink, which she accepts. Although Alexis is jealous, she is relieved when Claire gives a file folder to Ric with all the information containing the baby Mikos arranged the adoption for.

At the hospital, Robin warns Jax not to trust Carly. Carly interrupts the two of them and asks Jax to come back to her place with her for a surprise. She is trying to get him to buy the house next door to hers and tells him that she even has the kids make a bunch of rucus outside when other people come to look at the house to try to discourage the potential buyers. Jax pulls out some papers and asks her to sign to be baby John's emergency contact. Carly also has papers for Jax to sign, but when he realizes it is for the hotel, he mistakenly accuses Carly of trying to con him. She is hurt and tells him the paperwork is just for the updated plumbing system that she knew he wanted. Tomorrow was the deadline in getting it signed, so she took care of getting it together for him to sign. He apologizes to her and asks her out to dinner. When Michael realizes that Carly is going to dinner with Jax, he is upset. He tells her that she knows Sonny doesn't like Jax. Carly tells her son that she and his father don't have to be friends with the same people. Michael seems relieved that they are just friends, but when his mother leaves he makes a phone call.

Patrick overhears Robin's conversation with Jax about Carly and tells her that he thinks she is jealous of Carly. Patrick thinks that Robin should be more decisive like Carly. Robin decides to take his advice and pulls Patrick into a kiss. She asks him out to dinner, and he accepts. She is less than thrilled when the two of them sit down and Carly and Jax are across the room.

At Kelly's, Dillon, Lucas, and Lulu cover for Mike's hangover and attempt to keep the diner running. Georgie shows up a little later after having run into her friend, Guy. She tells him that she wants to set him up with her cousin, Lucas, but he is against blind dates and has to go to his new job at the Metro Court anyway. She tells Lucas about Guy, but he doesn't sound too interested. Meanwhile, Frank (the guy who beat up Lucas) talks to Guy at the Metro Court.

Dillon comes outside with a baseball bat and threatens to use it on him if he doesn't leave. They take Guy to the hospital. Lucas doesn't think Guy should say anything about the guy who attacked him. However, Guy feels the guy should be brought up on assault charges or for a hate crime. Guy is seen by Liz who brings him in another room to get stitches put in his forehead. Guy plans to go to the police station and press charges. Lucas admits to him that he was attacked by the same guy for being gay and didn't press charges. He also tells her about his abusive stepfather, Deke. The two of them dance out on the balcony and kiss. Later, Sonny has a dream about dancing on the balcony with Emily and she gets shot and killed. He wakes up screaming out. Emily asks him what his nightmare is about. He doesn't tell her but does admit he has nightmares a lot and that is why he can't sleep at night for very long. She distracts him by kissing him and getting his mind off the dream. Later, Emily wakes up to find Sonny awake and drinking on the balcony. She worries about what is on his mind and what dream he had that disturbed him that much. Meanwhile, Carly and Jax have dinner at Metro Court at the same time Robin has her date with Patrick across the room. Carly has a bottle of champagne brought over to Robin and Patrick's table. Robin doesn't like Carly's token and walks over to her table and tells her off. Carly makes a snide comment about her being afraid to drink and get loose and be a real woman. The two women almost come to blows but Jax and Patrick keep them apart. Robin goes back to her table with Patrick and fumes about how Carly is just using Jax. Carly comes to sit at her table later. Robin tells her off and asks her why she doesn't spend more time with her own children instead of on Jax and his son. Carly gets upset finally when her words hit home. Meanwhile, Max goes to see Jason to ask him to go take care of Carly who is with Jax on a date before she does something crazy. Jason refuses to deal with Carly and tells Max to take care of Carly himself while Sonny is away. Max goes to the hotel and sees Carly with Jax and worries about what she is going to do with him. He sits at the bar and holds a menu to his face and covers it so Carly won't know he is there. He sees her dance with Jax on the dance floor. This seems to bother Robin when she sees them together. Max cuts in and wants to dance with Carly. Jax lets him and goes to sit down. Max really knows how to dance and swirls her around the dance floor. Carly is impressed and pretends that she thinks Max is really interested in her romantically. She calls him "twinkle toes" and thinks she will make it his new nickname. Max doesn't like the idea that the other men will hear that name and tease him about it. Carly threatens to tell them if Max doesn't tell her what he is really doing there at the hotel. Robin can't believe it when she sees Carly go over to Jax and kiss him passionately. She complains to Patrick who is more amused then angry with her for ignoring him on his date. Carly takes Jax into the elevator and makes Max think she is going up to his room to sleep with him to make him panic. Patrick takes Robin's hand and tells her they are leaving so she will pay more attention to him. They end up outside Kelly's. Robin looks inside Kelly's but tells Patrick she lost her appetite watching Carly at the hotel. Patrick tells her he liked seeing some fire come out of her instead of just ice and kisses her when she brings up how much she dislikes Carly.

Later, Stan shows up to tell them that he found a small clinic in Chatham, Maine that may be the place where Sam was born. Jason decides to go with Sam to Maine to check out the clinic. She starts crying and wishes she had the courage to do it then. Ric comforts her and reminds her that she was very young and didn't have the money or resources to take care of a baby on her own then. Meanwhile, Sam and Jason reach the clinic. At first the director tells them he can't reveal the contents of the adoption to them and the records are sealed from the birth mothers who come every day to find out about their children. Sam tells him that she is not a birth mother but that she is someone who was adopted herself and wants to know her birth mother. The guy smiles and tells her that is different and writes down the last known address of the woman who was her birth mother but doesn't have a name for her. Sam is pleased to get just some lead on her birth mother. Later, they arrive at the address of her birth mother. Sam is nervous but decides she wants to meet her birth mother.
