Jax asks Courtney to move in with him, and reminds her that he has far more space and can accommodate everyone in her loft. Courtney balks at the idea, and tells him that she thinks it's too much too soon, prompting Jax to accuse her of being afraid of commitment. Meanwhile, Diego spies on Max and Meyer discussing paperwork and a deal of Sonny's, but another one of Sonny's men catches him and the three guards beat Diego severely. Brook happens upon a bleeding Diego later, and immediately takes him to Courtney's house. The two burst through the door, and a stunned Courtney and Jax immediately run to Diego's aid. At the same moment, Grace, the child services rep, shows up and is concerned for Diego's wellbeing. Jax and Brook cover up the situation, and Diego agrees, so Grace leaves. Courtney feels horrible, and wants to take Diego to the hospital, but he runs out again.

Lorenzo purchases an automatic gun with plans to end his feud with Sonny. As he's making the purchase, Lois again bursts into his apartment asking if she's interrupting. She's shocked to see the weapon, and immediately starts in on Alcazar about his feud with Sonny over Carly. She guesses Carly rejected him again, but Lorenzo tells her his problems have nothing to do with Carly. Intent on keeping him from going after Sonny, Lois undresses and decides to distract him. Lorenzo takes the bait, and the two have sex on his living room floor. He later tells her he's not a good man, and therefore will not resist using her to take his mind off his troubles, but Lois says she doesn't mind because she's beginning to have feelings for him. The two sit in front of the fireplace and talk, until a knock on the door interrupts them. Lorenzo dresses while Lois covers herself with a blanket, and both are shocked to find Brook at the door looking for Diego. Upon seeing her naked mother in the apartment, Brook is utterly stunned and disgusted.

Alexis and Ric are terrified when doctors rush into Kristina's room and begin inspecting the girl. Their fears are heightened when they wheel her off to the OR, and Steven tells them that she's bleeding internally. Sonny is notified of Kristina's turn for the worse, and he rushes to find Alexis and Ric in the room. Ric blasts his brother for the fact that Kristina began to cough up blood while Sonny's lawyer was harassing them about the custody case, but Alexis tells both men to give it a rest. After Steven returns to tell them that Kristina is better and on the mend, Sonny demands to be there when she wakes up. Alexis calmly reminds him that Kristina doesn't feel well and is frightened, and regardless of blame, she does not know who Sonny is, and he might make the situation worse. Sonny finally allows Kristina's well being to be put first, and agrees that Alexis should be the one who Kristina sees when she wakes up.

A grieving Sam lashes out at Sonny over his approval of the use of their daughter's stem cells. Sam accuses Sonny of being happy the baby died, and of only caring about Kristina and his children with Carly. Sonny tells her she's wrong and reminds her that the baby was his child too, but Jason suggests that Sonny leave the room until Sam calms down. Jason then sits with a sobbing Sam, and tries to help her cope. She turns her rage toward him, though, and demands to know why he's there with her now that the baby is gone. She tells him that as soon as she's ok, she'll leave Port Charles and get out of his life, but Jason clearly doesn't want to see her go. He holds her as she cries, and later takes her to Kristina's room. Sam resists, but Jason forces her to look through the window as Kristina recovers from her emergency surgery. Jason reminds Sam that her daughter is the reason that Kristina is alive, and that a piece of the baby will always live on because of it. For the first time since she collapsed, Sam is able to smile.

Carly and Michael pack up their stuff at the penthouse, and prepare to move themselves and Morgan out. Carly calls John and tells him that they are moving into the cottage that evening, and John gloats about it to Sonny. John warns Sonny that his daughter is his business, and he's thrilled she's leaving him after the danger Sonny has put her in, and the two children he's fathered outside of their marriage. Later, Carly tells Sonny in person that they are moving out, and he asks her to reconsider. She explains to him that she can no longer live in wonder if he'll want her to stay or he'll want to throw her out, and she has to find stability for Michael and Morgan. Unable to tell her how he'll feel in a day or so, Sonny accepts the fact that she's moving out. Later, Carly tries to finish boxing up her family's things, when John arrives at the penthouse ready to help her and Michael with their boxes. Carly thanks her father for all that he's done for her, and despite Michael's cool treatment, John seems genuinely happy to be with his daughter and grandson. Michael tries to finish packing his comic books, but accidentally knocks over the box. John sits down to help box the stuff again, and notices that Michael inadvertently packed a file of Sonny's. As Meyer desperately tries to explain the one incriminating file that remains to Sonny, John is back at the penthouse with evidence in his reach that could finally put his son-in-law in prison.

Mac shows up at Wyndemere to question Emily, but he runs into Connor. Connor plays along when Mac assumes he's Nikolas, and he quickly leaves the room once Emily arrives. Mac questions her about Connor's presence when Helena went over the cliff, but Emily continues to maintain that Nikolas did not kill his grandmother, it was simply an accident-regardless of what Connor might have seen. Mac leaves, but is obviously still suspicious, and this prompts Nik to demand that Connor leave for Canada that night. Emily agrees, but Connor first thanks both of them and apologizes to Nikolas for kissing Emily. Nikolas doesn't buy Emily's insistence that Connor briefly thought she was Mary, and he tells her that Connor won't leave easily. True to Nik's predictions, Connor purposely rips open a stitch in order to stay in Port Charles longer. Once Emily sees that he's bleeding, she tells Nikolas that there's no way that Connor can travel.

Brook is disgusted and shocked to find her naked mother in Alcazar's living room, and she's stunned silent when Diego also shows up at the door. Brook runs off, and Lois goes to put clothes on in the other room while Diego tries to offer Alcazar a tip on Sonny. Alcazar refuses to listen to Diego, and tells him to leave or he'll have him arrested. Angry and fed up, Diego runs off for the docks, where he finds Brook again. He tells her he's running away, and asks if she'll go with him. She hesitates briefly, but decides she's had enough of her mother's hypocrisy, and she agrees to go. Diego leaves to pack his bag, and Lois comes upon Brook. Before her daughter can run off, Lois grabs Brook and tells her she's going to listen to Lois explain. Brook grows angrier as Lois tells her that she likes Lorenzo, and wants to have someone in her life. Brook shouts at her mother that if she really wanted someone she could be with Ned, and that an affair with Lorenzo will cost Lois all rights to decide what Brook does with her life. Brook then yanks her arm away from her mom and takes off. Alcazar wanders up to a distraught Lois awhile later, and attempts to comfort her and take her mind off her troubles.

Courtney refuses to move in with Jax, and he asks her what she's afraid of. Courtney admits that she needs her independence, and tells him that she's tired of always centering her life on the man that she's with. She insists she wants to run her foundation and help Diego on her own, to prove that she can do it. Jax accepts her answer, and leaves, but Diego quickly shows up and begins to pack his bags. Courtney tries to talk him out of running away, but he won't listen to her and he takes his things and runs off to find Brook. Meanwhile, Dillon and Georgie arrive at the Quartermaine mansion, and having been tipped off by Lois, ask Brook how she's doing. They're upset to see that she's packing a bag, and they try to keep her from running off with Diego. Brook begs them to let her do what she needs to do for herself, and tells them that if they care about her they will. Dillon tries his hardest to talk Brook out of it, but she takes her stuff and leaves.

A frantic Meyer explains to Sonny that he left the file on Sonny's desk, and it is imperative that it not fall into the wrong hands. Sonny calms Meyer down, and tells him that he'll go home that minute and look for it. When he arrives at the penthouse, however, Sonny is unable to find the file. He rushes over to Carly's new house, and tries to search the boxes. He asks Carly if she's seen it, but she says that she hasn't, and Sonny quickly calls Meyer and tells him the file is missing. Meyer promises to try to locate it, but the minute he hangs up the phone, he's approached by John who holds the file out in front of him. Meyer attempts to play dumb and then requests a lawyer, but John gives him the file back and promises to help him when the time comes. When Meyer asks about Sonny, a gleeful John says that the file is a textbook for money laundering, and Sonny is about to be put away for life for all of his RICO violations.

Back at the cottage, Carly asks Sonny if the only thing he needs is to find the file, but he says that he also wanted to see the boys. He tries to help Michael understand why he and Carly are splitting up again, but Michael refuses to listen to him and runs up to his room. Sonny then turns toward Carly, who is in obvious pain over their most recent separation. She apologizes for moving out so quickly, but says she had to do it before Sonny decided he wanted to throw her out. She asks Sonny to decide where they stand once and for all, and Sonny, unable to forgive Carly for her lie despite having so many of his own, tells her their marriage is over. Although she heard nothing she didn't expect, Carly is crushed as Sonny leaves the cottage. She sits down on her couch and sobs, until Michael comes back downstairs and lovingly tries to protect his mother. The boy puts his arm around Carly, and tells her that it will be okay and that he'll take care of her from now on.

Jax and Courtney meet at the church prior to the memorial for Samantha's baby and Courtney confides that she believes that she is failing Diego in spite of her best intentions. Although Jax tries to reassure Courtney, they are interrupted when Mike arrives. After Jax leaves, Mike confides to Courtney that he is afraid that Sonny might break under the strain of the baby's death on top of the break-up of Sonny's marriage to Carly.

In Kristina's Hospital room, Alexis tells Kristina that Ric will be going home with them and is rewarded by a smile from her recovering daughter. When Ric arrives, Ric informs Alexis about the memorial service for Sam's baby and Alexis expresses her desire to go to the service with Ric. Ric vetoes Alexis' suggestion, explaining that any public eruption between Alexis and Sonny before the custody hearing COULD be harmful to Alexis and Ric's position. When Alexis asks why RIC wants to attend the service, Ric explains that, even though Sonny is unwilling to acknowledge their family connection, Ric IS family. Alexis succeeds in persuading Ric to let Alexis accompany him to the service, explaining that she feels it is necessary to honor the little girl who was so instrumental in saving Kristina's life.

Meanwhile, in Samantha's Hospital room, Sam is devastated when Jason brings the bad news that Dr. Meadows believes that Sam is NOT strong enough yet to get out of bed to attend her daughter's memorial service. Although Jason suggests that they COULD postpone the service until AFTER Sam has recovered, Sam insists that she believes it is important for her to remember her daughter now. Later, Jason meets Emily and asks Emily to help Sam get ready for the service, because Sam is determined to attend the service. At the same time, at Sonny's Penthouse, as Sonny looks at a cross that he bought as a gift for his daughter, Sonny is pleased when Carly and Michael arrive and announce that they plan to attend the memorial service with him.

Aboard the Haunted Star, Skye pretends to blow up when she discovers Luke getting sloshed, and blasts Luke for wallowing in his bottle. Heather walks in on their 'argument' and coldly enlightens Skye by informing Skye that today is the anniversary of Luke's wedding to Laura. When Skye tries to send Heather away, Skye appears to be stunned when Luke orders SKYE to leave instead. Although Luke later orders Heather to leave as well, Heather refuses to leave and, instead, tries to reassure Luke of her sympathy and support for his grief. Heather pretends to be surprised when Luke confides that he believes that Laura was abducted so someone could use Laura to frame Skye for Detective Duncan's murder. Although Luke angrily vows to find the culprit and make them pay dearly for messing with Laura, Heather continues to pretend to be totally mystified by all of Luke's revelations. After Heather leaves, Skye returns and congratulates Luke for a masterful performance and asks if Heather suspects that Luke has caught on to Heather's deception. Luke declares that he believes that Heather is letting her guard down and will soon lead them to Laura's hiding place. Luke confides to Skye that, although he will eventually find Laura, when he DOES locate his missing wife, Luke will need to let Laura go again, because Luke now realizes that there is no hope that Laura will ever regain her sanity. Skye is thrilled when Luke suddenly declares that he needs Skye, and kisses her.

Liz arrives at the church for the memorial service, accompanied by her brother, Steven. The assembled mourners are all surprised when Durant arrives. Mike coldly informs Durant that he is NOT welcome there, but John argues that CARLY needs her family today, as much as Sonny needs his. As Samantha and Jason enter the church, Sam confides to Jason that she suddenly feels peaceful for the first time since her baby's death. Ric and Alexis arrive AFTER the service begins and slip quietly into a back pew. However, Samantha spots them. When Sam turns around and looks directly at Alexis, Alexis suddenly gets up and leaves and Ric follows her. While the minister talks about love, Sonny shoots a hateful glance at the departing couple. Outside, Ric catches up with Alexis and expresses his belief that it may be that the best way for them to honor Sam's child and the gratitude they feel for the gift of life that the baby gave to Kristina would be to keep their distance from the grieving mother. When Ric and Alexis return to Kristina's Hospital room, Alexis thanks Ric for trying to warn her about attending the memorial service while there is so much hostility between Alexis and Sonny. Ric assures Alexis that she had good intentions, even if Sonny or Sam might NEVER understand her motives. Ric reminds Alexis that she did her best and Alexis's best saved Kristina's life. Later, Ric is thrilled when Kristina gives him an unexpected, impromptu kiss.

Following the service, Jax and Courtney walk in the park, and Courtney confides that she believes that the custody battle brewing between Alexis and Sonny could get very ugly. Jax surprises Courtney by suggesting that it might be possible for Jax and Courtney to derail the custody battle by stepping in and persuading Alexis and Sonny to declare a truce. Meanwhile, Carly and Michael return home with Sonny. Although Michael expresses his intent to stick around to cheer Sonny up, Sonny asks Carly and Michael to pick Morgan up and take Morgan to play in the park as a way of honoring Sam's baby. At the same time, Jason and Sam take flowers to the baby's grave and Sam asks Jason to say a prayer for the baby, because Sam still can NOT say good-bye to her daughter. As Jason prays for the baby, Sam breaks down in tears and cries on Jason's shoulder. Later, when Sam returns to her Hospital room, Sam thanks Jason for his support but admits that she is not yet ready to say good-bye to her daughter. Jason assures Sam that the ability to let go will come, in time. At the same time, as Carly plays with Michael and Morgan in the park, Durant phones Steven and reports that John has arranged for Ric to obtain the file that incriminates Sonny from a source which can NOT be traced to John. Steven warns John that Steven believes that John's plan to send Sonny to prison while preserving John's relationship to John's daughter COULD blow up in Durant's face. Durant ignores Steven's warnings and joins Carly in the park. Michael rudely orders his grandfather to go away. John merely wishes Carly well and leaves. In the meantime, Sonny visits the baby's grave and confides the plans he had made for his daughter, which will never transpire now. When he leaves, Sonny leaves behind the cross that he bought for the baby.

The four kids come out of hiding. Diego is looking for money when he finds a bundle of letters addressed to him and takes them and tells the others that the letters are from his sister. They leave the apartment. Dillon asks him why he isn't with his sister now since he has no other family. He explains that his sister was born in Mexico and he wasn't and that the government deported her before she could get to him to take care of him. He refers to his sister as Maria. He tells them that there is money inside the letters she wrote him and he is going to use the money to get to Mexico. He asks Brook Lynn to go with him to Mexico instead of going to Las Vegas like they planned.

Heather decorates the casino on "The Haunted Star" in Thanksgiving decorations. Luke acts like the decorations don't bother him so he can please Heather. Skye makes her opinion clear, she hates the decorations. Heather tells her she doesn't appreciate anything that represents good spirits. Luke points out that Skye also decorated the casino with Christmas decorations last year and he didn't like them. Skye gets annoyed and storms out. She heads to G.H. to meet with Tracy. Tracy asks her what she wants from her. Skye informs her that Heather just plunked down $2million of Edward's money into Luke's casino. Tracy doesn't approve even though she helped Heather have Edward committed to Shadybrook. Skye asks Tracy to put their differences and mutual hatred for each other aside and team up to stop Heather from conning Edward and the rest of the family. Tracy agrees to get Edward out of the mental hospital so he can see what Heather is doing. Skye returns to the casino to find Luke and Heather dancing and kissing and can't help but feel jealous despite knowing Luke is just conning Heather.

Nikolas and Emily argue about Connor. Emily doesn't think it is safe for Connor to travel when he just reopened his wound. Nikolas thinks Connor did it himself so he could postpone leaving the country. Emily thinks Connor will hold up to his end of their deal by leaving the country and not telling the police what he knows. Nikolas leaves for awhile, unaware that Connor overheard their argument. Later, Emily comes into the living room and thinks Nikolas returned home but realizes that it is actually Connor. She tells him he shouldn't be hanging around in the open in case the cops show up or something. Connor thanks her and Nikolas for being nice to him and helping him out. He asks Emily how she met Nikolas. She tells him that she and Nikolas didn't fall in love with each other until they were adults but admits she had a big crush on him when she was a teenager. Connor tells her that he doesn't understand how Nikolas waited so long to realize what a great woman she was and fall in love with her. She tells him that they were with other people and that it wasn't like it was for him and Mary, who fell in love out of high school. Connor tells her that he would have appreciated her sooner than Nikolas would have and tries to kiss her again. Emily slaps him hard across the face. Connor tells her that she made a big mistake right now by hitting him.

Sam has a dream that her baby lived after all and she and Jason bond with her daughter. She wakes up and realizes she is still in the hospital and had only been dreaming. She gets up out of bed and leaves her room. Meanwhile, Sonny and Jason question their financial advisor about where the important confidential file could have landed after they can't find it. The financial advisor, Myers, had taken the file out of his briefcase and had placed it near the other table on the floor before Sonny and Jason entered the room. Myers suggests that one of Sonny's kids took it. Sonny insists they don't have the file. Myers looks around the room and points out that he sees the file on the floor near the other table in the corner. Sonny tells him that it wasn't there before. Myers suggests that maybe it landed there later. Sonny warns Myers that he better not be trying to set him up or there will be consequences. While this is going on, Ric shows up on the docks. He is looking for the person who tipped him off about some important file that he had for him. Ric sees a man standing on the docks and asks him if he called him with a tip about some important file. The man tells him he didn't call him and leaves. John Durant watches Ric from afar to see if he falls for the bait he left. Ric sees a business envelope laying on the bench and goes over to pick it up. The big envelope has his name written on the front. Ric looks at the contents inside. Alexis talks to Kristina before she is brought out her room for more tests. Steven tells her that they are just going to check and see how the bone marrow is working and if it is producing enough red blood cells to indicate whether Kristina is on the mend or not. Later, Sam goes to see Kristina in her room. Jason shows up to her room and finds she isn't there. He finds her in Kristina's room. Jason comes in and talks to Kristina. Alexis finds them there. She asks to speak to Sam outside the room. She apologizes to Sam for what she said to her that day and asks for her forgiveness. Sam seems to accept her forgiveness. Alexis asks her why she came to see Kristina. Sam tells her she wanted to feel close to her own daughter by being near someone she helped. Alexis tells her she understands why she would want to see Kristina but tells her that Kristina is still too weak to have visitors who she doesn't know. Jason tells her that they were just visiting and they leave and go back to her room. Sam tells Jason that she feels emptiness right now and wants to have another baby. Later, Ric shows up to see Alexis and Kristina. Alexis tells Ric that she is afraid that once Kristina is well and out of the hospital Sonny will fight her for custody. Ric tells her that he may have the evidence to put Sonny away for good this time. However, Ric is reluctant to use the evidence against Sonny right now since Sonny is still grieving for his lost child and that it would be cruel to go after him right now. Alexis disagrees with him and tells him he must do his job and arrest Sonny before he can buy some judge to allow him partial custody of Kristina. Ric suggests they should still hold off for awhile. Alexis insists he arrest Sonny now. Ric meets with Durant on the docks. Sonny and Jason meet with his new lawyer, who wants to bring up the fact that Alexis harassed Sam like she did in court to help portray her as an unfit mother. Sonny refuses to allow her to do that in court since he can understand why Alexis would do that since she was distraught and brings up that what happened to Sam wasn't really Alexis fault. His lawyer tells him that now is not the time to use kid gloves since Alexis won't do the same in court. His lawyer tells him that she is already going to have Carly and Michael take the stand in his defense as a good father. Carly and Michael show up to see Sonny. Michael tells him he wants to take the stand and tell the court what a good father Sonny is and how great it is to live with him. Michael does feel threatened when Sonny tells him that he wants Kristina to live with him. Michael asks him why she can live with Sonny but not him and Morgan. Carly and Sonny reassure him that he will always have a room at Sonny's even if he lives with Carly. Carly heads to the docks. Durant sees her hiding around the corner while he is talking to Ric about the evidence he has against Sonny in his possession. Durant does an about-face and tells Ric to destroy the evidence since it doesn't come from a reliable source and that he will make a fool of himself in court by presenting the evidence in court. Ric asks Durant if he is saying this to protect his daughter. Durant denies it. Ric tells him that Carly will be fine and will be better off without Sonny. Durant tries to persuade Ric to drop the evidence. Ric is adamant that he has concrete evidence that looks legitimate enough to bring charges against Sonny. Ric takes off. Carly comes over to Durant and asks him to try to stop Ric from using the evidence. Durant tells her he will try his best but Ric seemed determined to arrest Sonny. Sonny shows up at the hospital to see Kristina. Alexis sees him in the hallway as he is getting ready to go into Kristina's room. She asks him leave Kristina alone for now since she is so tired and weak still and doesn't know him. Sonny tells her he won't allow her to push him away since he is her father and has rights. Alexis pleads with him to put Kristina's needs before his own and let her rest. Steven comes over and tells them that from the tests he ran on Kristina it looks like the bone marrow is working. Sonny thanks Steven for saving Morgan first and then saving his other daughter's life and tells him he won't forget what he has done for him. Ric, Lucky, and another uniformed cop show up. Sonny asks Lucky what he is doing there. Lucky tells him he is sorry but he came to arrest him. Sonny thinks he is being arrested for the restraining order Ric got to keep him away from Kristina and tells Ric that he had that restraining order revoked. Ric tells him he came to arrest him on other charges such as tax fraud, extortion, and money laundering. Sonny looks at Alexis accusingly.
