General Hospital's Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina Davis) turned heads at this year's Daytime Emmy Awards in a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta gown that has quite an interesting backstory.
The actress tells soapcentral.com that she fell in love with the pink and white stunner ages ago and knew that she'd wear it for a special day sometime in the future. She just didn't expect it to be the night she won a Daytime Emmy Award!
“This was Brenda's wedding dress on the show, and I told my mom when she wore it, ‘I want that dress for my wedding. I need it,'” the Outstanding Younger Actress winner reveals. “But my mom was like, ‘You're 16. You're going to find something else that you're going to fall in love with years down the road. You can't buy it.'”
Fortunately, fate intervened, and Ainsworth's dream of wearing the gown came true. "I remembered it when I was looking through dresses at the studio, and I was like, 'I have to wear this. I'm so in love with it!'" she gushes.
And as luck would have it, the dress didn't even need any alterations before its red carpet debut.
“It fit me perfectly,” Ainsworth shares. “I did have to shed a few pounds, but it was worth it, because it's Oscar! And every girl would love to wear an Oscar dress.”
