The daytime world was devastated when beloved star Jane Elliot decided to retire from General Hospital earlier this year, so imagine everyone's horror when an ABC News announcement interrupted her final moments as Tracey Quartermaine. The Internet nearly shut down due to an abundance of comments pouring in from disappointed fans, leaving ABC no choice but to listen.
In honor of Elliot's nearly 40-year stint in Port Charles as well as the fans who so desperately wished to view her on-screen swan song, ABC will be re-airing the show in its entirety on Monday, May 29, and has made the episode available for free online viewing now.
"Today's interruption was beyond our control," tweeted ABC executive Nathan Varni. He later added a link to the episode along with the caption: "A #FarewellTracy gift to our loyal viewers, watch [the] episode for FREE (no verification required)."
Varni also updated fans via Facebook, writing: "The full episode will also be available... on our ABC website and ABC Watch app along with Hulu... [and we are taking] the wall down for this episode so all viewers can fully enjoy and appreciate this very special episode for free."
