Illness sidelines Rebecca Herbst

Illness has sidelined General Hospital's Rebecca Herbst. The actress, who was involved in a very public firing and re-hiring earlier this year, will be off-screen for a period of time. A former DAYS star will temporarily step in.


Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth Webber) will be off the General Hospital canvas for a period of time. The actress has been sidelined by viral meningitis.


"Due to illness of Rebecca Herbst, the role of Elizabeth Webber will be temporarily recast by Martha Madison with a first airdate of June 8," a GH spokesperson tells soapcentral.com. "The cast and crew of General Hospital wish Becky a speedy recovery and expect her to be back at work soon."


Madison spent four years as Isabella "Belle" Black on NBC's Days of our Lives. Her last appearance on DAYS was in 2008. Since that time, she has made a couple of primetime guest spots and gone on to star in the web soap, the Bay.


In related news, DAYS viewers may want to tune in to catch two of the show's former Belles at the same time. Kristen Storm (Maxie Jones) appeared as Belle on DAYS from 1999 to 2004.


It is unclear how long Herbst will be out of action. Madison first airs on June 8.
