, taking to Twitter to assure fans not to believe everything they read.
While ABC did release a casting call, Monaco tells Soap Opera Digest
that "there really was no doubt" that she would sign a new contract with General Hospital. The twice-Emmy-nominated actress explains that since she and the network had not signed off on the new contract by a set deadline, it was "standard procedure" for ABC to release the casting call. In fact, Monaco notes that General Hospital executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps, contacted her personally to let her know that the breakdown was being released.
Monaco joined the cast of General Hospital in October 2003
upon the cancellation of the GH spinoff, Port Charles.
