Steve Burton returns to GH

ABC officially announced this past week that Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) will be reprising the role of Jason Morgan on General Hospital for an initial period of six weeks. His first airdate will be Friday, August 25.

Burton portrayed the character of Jason Morgan Quartermaine from 1991 and left the show in 1999 to pursue other projects. He was tapped to co-star in a Steven Spielberg television project called Semper Fi, a show about marine cadets. The show hit shaky ground when it was not picked up for the fall season, but was considered for a midseason replacement. Word came down this week that Semper Fi will not be brought in midseason, but instead, the two hour pilot is under consideration as a television movie, which is scheduled to air sometime early next year if it gets the go ahead.

Riche tells us, "We have some very exciting story planned and we are thrilled that Steve could be a part of it."

Burton himself says, "General Hospital is like family to me, so it will be nice to spend time back at home." Burton won a Daytime Emmy Award in 1999 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
