Chelsea, reeling from her discovery of Nick and Billie's "affair," angrily blasts them for their betrayal and duplicity. Nick tries to get through to her that it was a one-time thing but Chelsea isn't appeased; she can't believe she was foolish enough to consider Billie her "mother." Chelsea packs her bag. On her way out Billie begs her to stay and talk, but Chelsea makes clear she wants nothing to do with her mother -- ever again.

Meanwhile, Max takes Abby to dinner to thank her for all her help at the garage. Abby assumes they're on a date but when lovesick Jed appears, to Abby's surprise, Max invites him and his sister Willow to join them. Abby lets Jed know three's a crowd, but changes her mind when Aunt Maggie shows up. Aware how Maggie feels about Max, Abby quickly enlists Jed to serve as her "beard," although Jed is unaware.

Chelsea shows up and sobs in Abby's arms. Abby takes her to the ladies' room and convinces her to call her dad and talk to him before leaving town. Willow listens from one of the stalls. When Abby and Chelsea leave, Willow emerges and grabs the hairbrush Chelsea left behind, a plan forming. Later, Willow hears Chelsea leaving a message for Bo that she's on her way over to his house and needs to talk to him. Willow, up to something, follows.

Willow shows Jed the fat check she received from E.J. She wants him to move in with her when she gets her own place. Jed wants to know where the money came from and what she had to do to earn it. Willow flashes on E.J. hiring her to burglarize Bo's house, but downplays her 'assignment' as little more than an 'errand.' Before leaving, Willow gives Jed the check and asks him to hide it under her mattress in her room at the 'Y' because she's afraid she might lose it.

Celeste insists that the only way Sami will ever be free of E.J. is to kill him. Sami argues against this, insisting there has to be another way to regain control of her life.

Meanwhile, E.J. visits Steve in the state hospital and is seriously displeased by Kayla's accusations. Steve begs E.J. to help get him out of the loony bin. E.J. will intervene if Steve promises to stop fighting him.

Later, Sami finds E.J. in his office and agrees to the amnio if he agrees to leave her alone if the baby she's carrying turns out to be Lucas's. E.J. agrees and Sami makes a one-way call. She says she needs to see the person right away.

Bo receives a call from Abby telling him Chelsea is heading over to his house to confide her troubles to him. Indeed, she arrives at Bo's place but thinks better about knocking. Instead, she writes Bo a note telling him she loves him and slips it under the door. Unbeknownst to her, Willow has been watching from the shadows. Once Chelsea is gone, Willow breaks into the house and steals some jewelry, just as E.J. paid her to do. On the way out, however, she drops some of the baubles and stoops to get them, hastily setting down the candle she's used to light her way. In an instant, the flame of the candle catches the curtains, and they're set ablaze. Before bolting from the house, Willow picks up the note Chelsea left for Bo and leaves the hairbrush that she confiscated at the Penthouse Grill. Luckily, Hope and the baby escape from the house without injury. The fire is extinguished, but Bo realizes it wasn't an accident and wonders who lit the match.

Jed hides the check from E.J. under Willow's mattress as he was told, but E.J. finds the check and destroys it. When Willow goes to retrieve the check at the end of the day, she sees it's gone.

Sami asks Nick to forge a lab report saying Lucas is the father of her baby. He refuses, but says he'll get her a blank report which she can fill in herself. He comes through for Sami and gives her the report, but she is stopped by E.J. in the corridor and must hide the damning document. Pushed to the brink, Sami faints, and the report flutters a few feet away. When Sami comes to, she retrieves it, thinking no one has seen her slip it into her clothes, but, in fact, E.J. has.

Chelsea takes refuge for the night in Max's garage after Jed, who happened to be there, opens a window in the back, sneaks inside and opens the door. Later, Bo calls her and she tells him she's leaving town by bus.

Billie and Bo fear that Chelsea is the cause of the fire, but don't immediately tell Hope the reason why. Hope presses until Billie reveals her one-night stand with Nick. Hope and Billie face off, but Bo intercedes and says he thinks they need to talk to Chelsea before they assume anything. They bring Billie back to her apartment. Meanwhile, Bo gets a call from Abby saying Chelsea is at the garage.

At the garage, Nick arrives and Chelsea rips into him, saying she wants nothing to do with him. Nick, trying to prove he's in her corner, offers to give her money to get out of town, if that's what she wants. Chelsea agrees but Bo's arrival stops her.

Later, while Hope comforts a distraught Billie, Bo confronts Chelsea on whether or not she started the fire.

Shawn and Belle arrive on Tinda Lau, where they meet a crusty old ex-Marine bar owner and his sexy daughter, Gabriella. They find a doctor, who gives Claire the antibiotics she needs. Gabriella overhears Shawn and Belle talking about being on the run, and presses them for the reason they're on the island. They sell her a cover story, and Gabriella seemingly buys it. She finds out Shawn is good with boats and cars and convinces her dad to let them stay in one of the guest rooms. Shawn and Belle are relieved not to be on the run for awhile.

Kate finds Philip at St. Luke's, where he is praying for Claire. He admits he feels like a failure for not finding his daughter. Kate encourages him to stop living by Victor's standards and to be his own man. She appeals to him to return to his "other" family: Kate, Billie and Lucas. Philip doesn't think there's any place for him left with the Roberts clan. Kate invites Philip to dinner with the family, and we see him considering the offer.

Steve is not happy when Kayla visits him at the state hospital. She tells him she saw E.J.'s name on the guest registry and inquires what that was about. Steve has no comment and says he wishes Kayla would just leave him the hell alone, for her own good. Kayla isn't about to back down and threatens to tell Stephanie about what's going on with him. In a huge moment, angry Steve grabs Kayla, pretends to hold a knife to her back, and escapes from the hospital.

Billie, with Sami and Lucas, breathes a sigh of relief when Chelsea comes home after a rough night at the police station. Chelsea, however, wants nothing to do with Billie – the addict, backstabbing slut!

Meanwhile, Billie is shocked when Steve shows up at her apartment...

Belle and Shawn are thrilled because Claire's fever broke and she seems to be on the mend. Gabby offers to let the trio stay at the hotel, but Shawn eighty-sixes the offer. Belle and Shawn are welcome to stay at the hotel if Shawn's willing to work on her boat. Shawn agrees on the condition that Duck says it's cool. Much to Shawn's surprise, Duck gives it the thumb's up. We get the feeling that Gabby isn't giving up until Shawn is hers.

E.J. admits to Willow that he took back the check because the last thing he needs is a paper trail. He wants nothing to do with Willow and warns her to keep her mouth shut. Willow, however, isn't concerned about the cops. She's set up someone else to take the fall.

Billie realizes Steve has escaped from the state mental hospital and he needs her help getting out of town. E.J. arrives, unaware Steve is there, and asks Billie to the Penthouse Grill. She claims she's busy having a heart-to-heart talk with Chelsea. When E.J. goes to the Grill later, though, he sees Chelsea with Sami and learns from the girl that there was no heart-to-heart. Knowing Billie lied, E.J. returns to her apartment and calls her on it -- while Steve hides from him in the shadows.

At the Penthouse Grill, Chelsea tells her troubles to Sami, who is very sympathetic. Sami even asks Chelsea to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. During the talk, Sami receives a note and races to the ladies' room. E.J. notices and asks Chelsea why Sami went running off. Chelsea shrugs; she has no idea. Later, however, E.J. spots Celeste sneaking out of the restaurant, and he surmises that she and Sami had some sort of confab. Sure enough, Celeste had met with Sami in the ladies' room and warned her that Stefano is obsessed with her baby and thinks it's a "gift from God." Celeste fears that if Sami is, indeed, carrying E.J.'s child, the DiMeras will take it from her.

Kayla has informed Roman of Steve's escape from the mental hospital. He suggests Steve might be with Billie, but when Kayla calls her, Billie lies and claims she has the flu and hasn't seen anyone. Kayla offers Roman the theory that Steve is with E.J., and the two go to question him. E.J. seems genuinely surprised when he hears Steve has escaped and denies any part in it. He thinks if Kayla wants to find Steve, she should ask Billie. By day's end, a depleted Kayla admits she needs Marlena's psychological help.

E.J. meets with a doctor and finds out that Stefano's transplant went well but that he is having problems with his white blood count and might need to find a bone marrow donor.
